I don't think Casey's mom is a bad. Her and Tina are frustrated women who want their daughters to have the opportunities they didn't have. In Casey's mom case, go to a prestigious college, and in Tina's case, being able to give Gen the career she lost due to her mistakes. I know what is like to be frustrated, you want to get back time but you can't, so people often use their kids to ammend for their own mistakes. 'course it's not right, and kids have their own lives, but it's understandable.

I think it's unfair that everyone is hating on the mom. Since it's a movie, it's completely unrealistic, and it's all about dreams. But what if Casey got badly injured, couldn't continue skating, and sacrificed her chance to go to college because she messed up her grades. And she's getting in the game so late, most successful skaters have already been winning championships by 17.

I support Casey so much in this movie.  I wanted to be an actress/singer/dancer but went to a prestigious college instead and was miserable. I look back and regret that I put school before my real passion, and I hope this movie inspires kids like me to do what they really want to do. Even if you don't make it, you'll have so much fun just focusing on your passion.

I can't get behind this girl because despite her nature the mother is RIGHT. Cacey has been at this for what less then a year and she's about to throw HARVARD out the window for something she has only displayed above average talent in. In the beginning she was very enthusiastic about physics and she is giving it up to be an athlete. The mother is not wrong her daughter can do so much good in the sciences and she will give it up for an unstable career with a limited shelf life.

Extra curriculars do help and you don't need a 4.0 but if your grades do not meet requirement you often don't get in and it is established that her grades started to suffer.
