Great example for a carry permit is air bags. You dont buy a car with air bags so you can go wreck and try them out, you get them to save your self and your family in a unavoidable situation. You never use your firearm unless other wise you or someone would other wise be killed or injured. Keep in mind if i wanna kill you I can go buy a hatchet from walmart for 13.99 and you will be dead before you hit the ground the goal is not to kill it is to protect.
Watched the whole video. I have a S&W MP.40 and am in the market for a holster. I believe I'm leaning toward a sholder slung holster due to the gun's size and how I need to conceal it for work.
I think it's kind of a paradox that the places where the criminal element is really dangerous, like Baltimore or Pitsburg, are the places that wouldn't allow it.
NYC doesn't even allow you to keep one at home, although it is currently a relatively safe city.
Anyone else think its weird how at my age (18) I can apply and legally carry a handgun, but I cannot buy a handgun or ammo for it? (This is in my state at least Im not sure about other states)
@Bathory20Seven Where I live I was just 16 when I bought ammo for my dad's 9MM by myself. Asked the clerk why I can buy it and he said "You can't shoot bullets without a gun" with a cop standing there. So it might depend on what state you're in.
Hickok45, while I. Here at one of your videos I figured I could give you an I idea/question. I was wondering whether you could consider doing a video on open carry. I know might seem redundant after all of your concealed carry videos but maybe you could give it a try and I'm sure there are viewers (myself included) who would be interested in getting a legitimate talk about this subject. Anyways keep up the great work!
Why is it that every time I sit down to enjoy one of Hickok's videos YouTube decides to be dumb and load approximately one percent of the video every 3 hours? It's makin me mad that YouTube is so fast with the videos I could live without but is slow as ever with the good videos. Oh well. At least i know my wait will be well worth it.
Thanks for the reply. Forgot to say that I do have a Concealed Carry Permit for Georgia. Like you, I work in a "gun free" area and would not carry there. We aren't even allowed to have a firearm in our vehicle while on the property (this is a government office I work at.) But I do carry where firearms are permitted and sure didn't want to be locked up for a little wallet holster. No reply needed, but thanks again for all you do in your fine videos.
Hickok45, I enjoy all your videos. Regarding pocket or wallet holsters, I recently saw a "guide" on Ebay regarding them. It made me a little uneasy. Here is part of a quote "Wallet Holsters which allow the gun to be fired while it is still in the holster, are now considered "Any Other Weapon" (AOW)" by the ATF and could result in a federal crime unless registering with a Class II manufacturer, chief of police, etc. What in the world are they talking about? Any info?
@LVen21, Yeah, the guys who lent me the little wallet holster I show in my Pocket Carry video were telling me about that. The gun cannot be totally concealed by the holster if it will still fire, something like that. I suppose all the little wallet holster makers are aware of what parts of the gun have to be visible, etc. Good to be aware of the law, though.
@MysteryoftheGods I think you are talking about double action. The "double" in double action means the trigger performs two actions: cocking the hammer and releasing the hammer.
thanks Hickok for allowing me to think a lot more before i went out and spent money on something that would or could be more harmful than good. I still have a lot to think about so ill just say thank you again and get back to your uploads.
Another factor might be considering your level of interest. As you said, some people grow up or become fascinated with guns, want a gun, and plan to go to the range at least weekly. In short, it is a hobby or lifestyle for them. For many others, they recognize that being armed is as important as having working life insurance or fire extinguishers, but those three things hold an equal lack of excitement. How much range time you're willing to put in affects weapon choice also.
Sir Hickok, what frequency would you recommended switching out magazines on a concealed carry pistol of good quality for maximum durability? Also, do you recommended loading the magazine at highest capacity for months on end? Thanks, for all your videos! - just another fan
Hickok are you a teacher? because you mentioned you cant carry no matter what and in another video you said you have a 3 month vacation in the summer.
I wear a suit almost every day and a shoulder holster would conceal my 1911 best. Is there any reason why "experts" advise against this besides the relatively longer draw time?..
@MrChimochay They probably don't own a shoulder rig. I use a shoulder rig when in suites for my 1911s and N frames. Sometimes I use a shoulder rig because I can.
I've heard people say they don't like shoulder rigs due to "Lack of muzzle" control. Sounds like a personal insecurity to me.
I'm doing some more prep for my impending CCW, and came back to this video... thank you again for raising the important questions, and for allowing people like me (inexperienced carriers) the benefit of your experience and advice.
P.S. One of the holsters I'm looking to purchase is the Crossbreed (but I'm leaning toward the Mini Tuck).
Referring to around 10:00, don't pay attention to the people that feel that no one should own guns. You don't need to even talk to them about your opinion. 99 times out of 100, they're still gonna think that way, and will continue to be stubborn. They are complete idiots, to put it in the politest way, and will never see it clearly. Guns are a means of protection. There are a ton of bad people out there that will do anything. Making a law against guns WILL ONLY TAKE GUNS OUT OF THE LAW ABIDERS.
@grizz474 Absolute bullshit. There are TONS of schools that allow Concealed Carry Permit holders to bring their firearms to work with them. Guns in schools should be mandatory, this way when some psychopath decides he's gonna go shoot up a room full of kids, he'll fucking get his.
@CaliforniaCarpenter7 Well, if there are schools that allow teachers with CCWs to come to work armed I'm unaware of them. I don't know of any schools in Minnesota that allow CCW as far as I know. I'm not arguing the merits of teachers being armed I simply stated that where Hickok works he's not allowed to carry as far as I know. There's no doubt that if he carried in the classroom the classroom would be a safer rather than a more dangerous place.
@grizz474 Nope. You stated: 'He doesn't have much of a choice, if he wants to teach."
I stated that that assertion was "Absolute bullshit", which it was. Would you like a cookie? I don't know what "schools in Minnesota" have to do with a dude that teaches in Tennessee. Herp, derp, XD
Good for you for being on the right side of public opinion on the issue of firearms in schools. 1,000 internets to you, good sir.
@CaliforniaCarpenter7 THANK YOU! you have restored my faith in human kind! it's always nice to see someone who thinks more "real life" then "over paranoid mom"
@CaliforniaCarpenter7 I realize this comment wasn't directed at me but I'd REALLY like to know where you live that you find TONS of schools that allow concealed carry permit holders to carry their firearms to work with them. I do agree with you that I think that schools (of all levels) SHOULD allow teachers and staff (and colleges and universities should allow students with permits to carry) but I just don't see that happening, yet. I think it only make sense but we're not there yet.
@Soulrider2012 I live in California, as could be figured by looking at my name. The Elementary School, and High School that I went to both allowed teachers to carry, I live in a county that is big on gun rights.
My Police Science teacher carried more than one gun on his person at all times, and he had no reservations whatsoever about telling us he did. Feels good, bro.
It really depends on the community. Go to PTC's and community meetings and get involved!
Love you vids Hickok, great work! Im from sweden were its absolutely illegal to carry weapons, and kinda agree about that law, actually its really hard to own a weapon at all unless you join a shooting club and actively compete. However i like weapons of all sorts and its really interesting watching your clips. Bet it would be fun having a conversation about handguns and their usage with you :). Have a nice day and keep up the good work!
Hickok45, thanks for posting this video. I bought my first gun earlier this year (beretta 96a1) and I have been researching legal carry for a few weeks. This video is exactly what i needed to see. is my side arm too large to carry concealed? and what kind of holster would you recommend. Your opinion has tremendous influece over me (and my friends).
@Ocelllian2 A good rule of thumb is any federal building (including the post office), police station (after the metal detectors), most hospitals, any time of public school, some universities, and a number of private busineses. Now, places like the private business and hospitals by law have to have very clear signs stating that it is a gun free zone. I am not so certain about the universities. I think it depends on the particular university.
@garzac7815 Universities also have to have clear signs. At school, I turn mine gun into the police station before going to class. If I had the option to, I wouldn't. Toledo is NOT a very friendly place!
@Ocelllian2 I will say this (and I think most CCW people would agree), at a place like a hospital, business, and especially a university I would carry even if the law stated it was not allowed. Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6. Ultimately there is no such thing as a "gun-free zone". If someone wants in with one... odds are they will get in ( as it has been proven over and over). The carrying of a gun is up to the who is carrying it and is willing to deal with the consequences.
Ah, philosophy. Don't you love it? If there were no such critters in this world, then perhaps there would be very little reason to carry a concealed weapon of any type apart from hunting and protection from wildlife. But that is a fairy tale from the dens of hell. Going a bit deeper philosophically, it is an intrinsic human function to have a defense mechanism be it a wielded weapon, your mind, or bare hands. One does not question martial arts or physical defense training but rather which type.
I am watching True TV the gun a Bersa 380 for sure, That the murderer has murdered two people with a 380 gun. I read the evidence tag.
that may put to rest the people that might say, or assume a 380 is not effective? Its a rather unfortunate situation, with a rabid mad dog killer murdering two people because a gal pinched him on the ass at a bar. The killer is a scum bag, but it appears one of the 380 bullet went through the 250 lb guy into the gal. So it seems 380 is overly effective.2 dead
Hey I have a shotgun, no pistol, is it legal to carry that in a holster? Lol, I know, I'm not gonna do it, everyone would call the cops on me, but is it TECHNICALLY legal?
I love your videos, been watching them for a while now! I have a question for you....I live in Augusta, Ga and I was just curious what the difference is between Legal Carry and Concealed Carry permits? If there any differences, or are they the same?
@JBirdDrmmr If you don't mind me interjecting with my own response, allow me to offer some insight. Legal carry includes any method of carry that is not against the law. This includes open carry in most places. A permit to carry concealed (whatever it might be) is required in most places in order for concealed carry to be a legal form of carry.
Quick impulse decisions can be life or death. When I was held up by armed robber, I could have been shot in the back as I ran to get my gun, I was not.
On the other hand I would have shot the robber impulsively had he not been fast enough to reach his get away driver before I could shoot him.
In retrospect the Robber and I were both fortunate. Either of us could have been dead. I could be charged with shooting fleeing robber, I as a victim could be in jail. Don't shoot fleeing, even police can't
i just wanna stay that its not always people that are the danger, i live out in the sticks and im more worried about a bobcat or a coyote coming up on me than a "bad guy"
@photoboy2005 Living in the sticks puts you where firearm protection is as necessary as boots, gloves, hat and a coat. Dangerous and rabid critters as well as a possible wayward bad guy, I wouldn't go to the mailbox without a way to defend myself
Personal Decisions and Real Life? you need a Legal permit,
and you need to EDC. I own a number of businesses, and actually been a Cop, a Sheriff and security officer. In one business,I ACTUALLY was held up by armed robber. I had a gun, NOT ON ME, as I ran to get it, I could have been shot in the back? After that I always had a 38 in my pocket, on test drives, and my store Counter. As a cop I never shot anyone, in over 1000 arrests, lots of physical fights, no body dead.Legal EDC light D/A guns

first off, your videos are awesome. i think you bring alot of knowledge to the table and point out alot of angles that some people might not think of, beit with concealed carry or just on gun comparisons. i've got about a year until i get my concealed carry permit and am trying to get as many opinions and try out as many options as possible. i was excited to see this video come up and learn that you were going to continue with the series. keep up the good work!
@CJUS511TAC CIA agents certainly do. For example, the most notorious CIA asset fall guy, Osama Bin Laden, aka Tim Osman is usually cited as the "mastermind" behind 9-11.
Another really good vid. Atleast you are allowed to carry firearms, because here in the UK we are left to deffend ourselves with our bare hands, against criminals with knives and guns. So the only way you can deffend youreself with either is to be a criminal.
useful background info, thanks for putting it out there. I've struggled with what type of carry method quite a bit since getting my permit. I too would like to hear your thoughts on the Shoulder Harness (ie Galco classic lite). IWB carry just seems to be too uncomfortable and likely to print vs shoulder harness concealed under a button down shirt. yes its slower to get to ,but its more comfort would seem to indicate to me that you'd be more likely to actually carry.
@tpaynemm I battle with sciatica alot, so prior to the Galco Summer Comfort, IWB was uncomfortable and I really disliked IWB.
But with a good belt and the SC holster I find that it sandwiches nicely against the body and the weight nearly vanishes. But I do have a Galco Miami Classic shoulder holster I really like for when I just want my belt line free.
I use the Summer Comfort, Miami Classic & Black Hawk Serpa paddle when carrying OWB. It only took 12 years to get to a point of what works
@tradbowyer1975. I've been carrying for 12 years and was at the same point with a holster you are at. After all this time I finally bought a Galco summer comfort. The best holster I own for real close to the body carry.
great info. I got my permit before I got my handgun and honestly didnt think about how I was going to carry. as of now I have a gun that I dont carry because I have not found a good way to carry it. mine prints to much and I dont have the money to experiment with different holsters and belts. you need to think these things through before you buy your gun and setup.

I would also mention to question if you would be able to take another persons life. Be it man or woman, would you be able to live with destroying another man or woman?
You might be destroying someones brother, sister, mother, father, friend, or partner.
If something did happen if it was their fault or naut, can you do it and live with it?
I think that is one helluva question to think about when carrying.
@Nexgcs, Yes, but the purpose of carrying is to help ensure that you get a chance to see if you CAN live with it. You can only use deadly force if your life is in immediate jeopardy, so you certainly won't have to live with it if you do nothing; you might not live with anything, a clear conscience OR not. At the point of my life's being threatened, I'll care very little who the evil one's family is or why they didn't raise the critter better. :-) I'll reflect on it later if I survive.
Yeah, I'm just thinking about the affects After You've used it.
In the US some of our soldiers come back with PTS-disorder and some of the causes are from what they had done or witnessed.
So If that can happen to them, Soldiers who were trained compared with civilians without those types of combat training. Then I believe my point in considering the after affects is necessary in considering to carry.
@Nexgcs Well I'm gonna pretty much shadow what hickok already said. It's irrelevant if you're not around to feel anything. I'd much rather my friends and family go to a therapist after taking someone's life instead of the alternatives. Heck, it might save you from an animal attack, you might just decide that it's not worth it on the spot, who knows... but have the option.
It's something to think about but it's secondary to logistics and if you should carry.
@Nexgcs If it becomes a question to you whether you care about someone's life who's physically threatening yours, I feel you have many other things to sort out than what gun to carry. Like why does your life mean so little to you?
@Nexgcs If by that you mean will you be able to pull the trigger when faced with great bodily harm or death, sure ask yourself. You must be able to pull the trigger, but I bet many people who say no, probably would wish they had a gun if their life or the life of a loved one was threatened. In reagards to how you would feel afterward. You are alive and the scumbag who tried to kill you is not. And you will be alive to ponder the sadness of that fact, but I bet you would not change places.
@Nexgcs ; You can't be serious. Let me get this straight dude. YOU would not 'destroy' another persons life, when that person is about to murder you, your mother, father, sister, etc. ? THANK the LORD I'm not related to you. To me, that shows you are either a coward or an idiot. It could be understandable to feel remorseful at taking the life of someone, even though they were evil. However, to not act upon a situation because of how you would FEEL afterwards is ridiculous.
@Nexgcs I wouldnt have a problem shooting someone that needed it. Like a child molesting scumbag! Child molesters dont deserve to live. They cant be reformed and they do NOT change.
@Nexgcs why would you even aim to potentially take someones life? If you really have to use your gun for self defense it is possible to aim for a none lethal body part, like a leg for example.
@ MyLastSiege B/c the perpetrator is no longer a threat when they're dead. When a reasonable person pulls out their gun, it's b/c they are fearing for their life or someone else's--as in, innocent people may die soon-- so not only is the use of deadly force justified, it's reasonable. In the event that you need to pull out your gun and use it, you're going to shoot to stay alive. If your life is in danger, the last thing you'll worry about is shooting their calf muscle b/c it hurts really bad..
@Nexgcs why do you even bother to watch & comment on a gun related video when your clearly against all thats even remotely related to weapons? Personally I'm against having guns for self defense, but I'm still like guns in general.
I'm totally for having your personal tool of self defense. What you're not understanding is that when considering the choice to conceal carry, with every squeeze of that trigger, with every bullet coming out of that barrel you are liable for it.
You may shoot and miss or over penetrate and hit someone completely innocent. Training and proper education is always top priority. You don't want to misinterpret the situation either. Think about it when You decide to Carry. God bless.
@Nexgcs IF Someone is going to attack me or shoot at me, I'm going to defend myself in any way necessary. The questions you ask never come into question when someone is threatening your life. I've been in the line of fire, and trust me, you just think about surviving.
I guess I'm doing something right in getting more people to think about it then.
But in other situations, such as a Law Enforcement officer who hears gunshots across the hill at the middle school... yadayada anyways I just wanted people think about it, and from different perspectives.
hey buddy.i really enjoy your videos.i watch you and a few others on youtube via my cell phone.im in chattanooga.got the impression you are a tennesseean also.maybe we'll cross paths someday.would be great to meet you.your videos on legal carry are excellant.thanks for all your work and efforts.
Many good points are raised in this clip. Some other things people need to keep in mind is how often they'll train to carry concealed. It's not as simple as it seems in the movies. How do you draw from a light jacket vs a heavy winter coat, drawing from a car, drawing when your wife or kid are with you, stuff like that. And at the end of the day, since you are responsible for each round that comes out of the barrel, are you skilled enough not to be a safety hazard to those around you.
Great points brought up. If anyone watching this wants to get more in depth I would recommend reading any of Massad Ayoob's excellent books on Concealed Carry. Well worth the time and money.
@monkeyandtheEngineer you did watch the entire video before replying to my comment correct? Both were "down talked", the shoulder holster once and the 1911 at several points. Now the shoulder holster I can understand because most people don't understand the benifits of them until you actually use one with a large frame pistol. However on the 1911, that just stuck in my craw. Its a superior design, its safer than most other guns, & anyone can find one to suit their needs.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
For once I'm a little disappointed Mr. Hickok, your points against shoulder holsters & especially the 1911 seem uncalled for. On the shoulder holster, in certain situations it is the ONLY way to carry. Specifically vehicle carry, while wearing suits or smiliar fancy clothing, or even carrying two guns at once without losing your pants. As for the 1911, its the only handgun I would trust my life too, & FYI it fits into the front pocket of any pair of jeans to the grip & a t-shirt covers the rest.
@job1181, They can work; it's just that a lot of people see them on Starsky & Hutch or something and end up with a loaded gun pointed at everybody they encounter (out the back), especially when they grab it. Nothing wrong with a full size 1911 if you can carry it all day with whatever your attire. Not many in the real world find it practical - some do. I'm just posing the questions people need to ask themselves and that I've worked through myself.
@hickok45 I can understand your concerns on the shoulder holster because you're having to consider the newbie who just bough his first gun and carry rig. There are muzzle down shoulder holsters from Galco but I understand your point. On the 1911 still not sure why you down play it over glocks or pocket guns. It's a superior design with 2 active safeties, & comes in several sizes to meet whatever the need the shooter has. The pocket .38 or LCP shouldn't be considered the end all be all in a CCW.
@job1181 Its fair to say, one cannot please every one? Many, years ago,One of my first gun was Colt 1911. I didn't like than or now.
One of my first holsters was a shoulder holster, after two hours it hurt. Guns and calibers? I carried light 357 loaded with 38's as did the Miami FBI agents. Why? comfort and control. So for many years,Its Light D/A S&W 638.Pocket Holster, S&W BG 380,Bersa 380. IWB D/A Bersa 40, or Glock 26 unchambered. IWB or Pocket holsters are best. Carry 48 ounce 1911, no way
@surfside006 yes its very fair to say you cannot please everyone. I'm not exactly sure what the nature of your comment is... either why you dislike the 1911 or what you prefer to carry. On either front I would not care enough to get into a long winded conversation on either topic. But as to the nature of my comment to Hickok, it was simply saying when presenting a subject you cannot exclude anything based on personal bias. I don't like glocks but I wouldn't exclude them as a choice to a new CHL.
@surfside006 lol sadly or maybe for the better, the issue of the best CCW or the best caliber for personal defense has turned into the new "whats the best caliber for deer" argument that has taken place around the hunting camp fire for the last 100yrs+. As to your two comments, aside from weapons or calibers, I fear a bit for your safety with you dislike of carrying chambered or cocked & locked. I've had to draw my gun a few times over the years & never once did I have time to rack the action.
@job1181 Fear not, all my carry guns are chambered, double action, none on safety. some both double and single action. From 380, 9MM, and 40 S&W. I have Glocks, loaded not chambered. My EDC S &W 638 has a shrouded hammer for single action, I had this model for 40 years, however I now am a Automatic believer.
and switching to one of the chambered 380 automatics. and seriously considering my Bersa 40 or My Beretta 9MM for EDC. I hate the weight, Twice as heavy as My S&W BG 380. Pocket carry EDC
ladies and gentleman please..if u do not have a relaxed and calm demeanor, if u do not have a strong moral compass and a questioning nature, if u ever get in fight's or altercations that are not a direct result of your current employment stop listening to Mr Hickock on concealed carry, He is assuming u have all of these attributes and are a responsible intelligent person, the right to carry does not give u the right to carry most of you cannot drive a vehicle correctly do not go get a gun.
Thank you for the videos!!! I recently got my OH permit. Carrying a Gen4 23 in a Stoner band and a Glock Sport/Combat OWB. Looking for a good IWB leather. Keep up the great work Sir!
@pwoznic Yep lived in CA for years until they started making an issue of what guns I could own based on how they looked, (if they looked like a weapon of war they were named an assault weapon under CA law I finally relocated to TN here with a Class and proper training I can carry a gun also TN does not issue a concealed carry permit it's a right to carry permit, so if my shirt pulls up and someone see's it some hotshot rookie LEO doesn't haul me in for Brandishing.
I'm in a country where gun laws changed drastically and only one firearm can be registered for legal conceal carry. In the past I all felt most comfortable with a small of the back carry. I'm hard set between a G23 and a G27 (shot with both but never carried one before) but keep in mind this will be the only firearm I can carry on any day. From your experience would the G27 be too small as a primary carry or would a G23 still conceal well in the small of back carry? (hot weather tucked in shirt)
@GeeBeisH If you're hard set on the Glock (an excellent choice) I'd stick with the G23 myself. If you're open for something else, Take a look at the Sig P250. You can change multiple sizes and calibers with one serialized gun.
@GeeBeisH Go with the 27 and never look back, I don't know anyone that doesn't shoot the 27 as well or better than the 23. Other than barrel and grip length they're the same gun. Barrel length doesn't really matter for carry but grip length really matters for printing. You can make the 27 grip longer (with pinky extensions) but you can't make the 23 grip shorter, you can even use a 23 barrel with the 27 if your set on a 4 inch barrel. Anything bigger that a 27 is just that, bigger. My 2 cents

LVen21 1 month ago
Hickok45, I enjoy all your videos. Regarding pocket or wallet holsters, I recently saw a "guide" on Ebay regarding them. It made me a little uneasy. Here is part of a quote "Wallet Holsters which allow the gun to be fired while it is still in the holster, are now considered "Any Other Weapon" (AOW)" by the ATF and could result in a federal crime unless registering with a Class II manufacturer, chief of police, etc. What in the world are they talking about? Any info?
LVen21 1 month ago
@LVen21, Yeah, the guys who lent me the little wallet holster I show in my Pocket Carry video were telling me about that. The gun cannot be totally concealed by the holster if it will still fire, something like that. I suppose all the little wallet holster makers are aware of what parts of the gun have to be visible, etc. Good to be aware of the law, though.

I wear a suit almost every day and a shoulder holster would conceal my 1911 best. Is there any reason why "experts" advise against this besides the relatively longer draw time?..
MrChimochay 4 months ago
@MrChimochay They probably don't own a shoulder rig. I use a shoulder rig when in suites for my 1911s and N frames. Sometimes I use a shoulder rig because I can.
I've heard people say they don't like shoulder rigs due to "Lack of muzzle" control. Sounds like a personal insecurity to me.

CaliforniaCarpenter7 2 months ago
@CaliforniaCarpenter7 Well, if there are schools that allow teachers with CCWs to come to work armed I'm unaware of them. I don't know of any schools in Minnesota that allow CCW as far as I know. I'm not arguing the merits of teachers being armed I simply stated that where Hickok works he's not allowed to carry as far as I know. There's no doubt that if he carried in the classroom the classroom would be a safer rather than a more dangerous place.

@grizz474 Nope. You stated: 'He doesn't have much of a choice, if he wants to teach."

How do you know if a place is a "gun-free zone?"
Ocelllian2 5 months ago
@Ocelllian2 A good rule of thumb is any federal building (including the post office), police station (after the metal detectors), most hospitals, any time of public school, some universities, and a number of private busineses. Now, places like the private business and hospitals by law have to have very clear signs stating that it is a gun free zone. I am not so certain about the universities. I think it depends on the particular university.
garzac7815 5 months ago
@garzac7815 Universities also have to have clear signs. At school, I turn mine gun into the police station before going to class. If I had the option to, I wouldn't. Toledo is NOT a very friendly place!
deathrooster14 5 months ago

One does not question martial arts or physical defense training but rather which type.

that may put to rest the people that might say, or assume a 380 is not effective? Its a rather unfortunate situation, with a rabid mad dog killer murdering two people because a gal pinched him on the ass at a bar. The killer is a scum bag, but it appears one of the 380 bullet went through the 250 lb guy into the gal. So it seems 380 is overly effective.2 dead

JBirdDrmmr 6 months ago

Don't shoot fleeing, even police can't

useful background info, thanks for putting it out there. I've struggled with what type of carry method quite a bit since getting my permit. I too would like to hear your thoughts on the Shoulder Harness (ie Galco classic lite). IWB carry just seems to be too uncomfortable and likely to print vs shoulder harness concealed under a button down shirt. yes its slower to get to ,but its more comfort would seem to indicate to me that you'd be more likely to actually carry.
tpaynemm 6 months ago
@tpaynemm I battle with sciatica alot, so prior to the Galco Summer Comfort, IWB was uncomfortable and I really disliked IWB.
But with a good belt and the SC holster I find that it sandwiches nicely against the body and the weight nearly vanishes. But I do have a Galco Miami Classic shoulder holster I really like for when I just want my belt line free.
I use the Summer Comfort, Miami Classic & Black Hawk Serpa paddle when carrying OWB. It only took 12 years to get to a point of what works

Nexgcs 6 months ago
@Nexgcs, Yes, but the purpose of carrying is to help ensure that you get a chance to see if you CAN live with it. You can only use deadly force if your life is in immediate jeopardy, so you certainly won't have to live with it if you do nothing; you might not live with anything, a clear conscience OR not. At the point of my life's being threatened, I'll care very little who the evil one's family is or why they didn't raise the critter better. :-) I'll reflect on it later if I survive.

MyDisciple 6 months ago
@Nexgcs If it becomes a question to you whether you care about someone's life who's physically threatening yours, I feel you have many other things to sort out than what gun to carry. Like why does your life mean so little to you?
phantomshtter 6 months ago
@Nexgcs If by that you mean will you be able to pull the trigger when faced with great bodily harm or death, sure ask yourself. You must be able to pull the trigger, but I bet many people who say no, probably would wish they had a gun if their life or the life of a loved one was threatened. In reagards to how you would feel afterward. You are alive and the scumbag who tried to kill you is not.

God bless.

Its a superior design, its safer than most other guns, & anyone can find one to suit their needs.
job1181 6 months ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
For once I'm a little disappointed Mr. As for the 1911, its the only handgun I would trust my life too, & FYI it fits into the front pocket of any pair of jeans to the grip & a t-shirt covers the rest.
job1181 6 months ago
@job1181, They can work; it's just that a lot of people see them on Starsky & Hutch or something and end up with a loaded gun pointed at everybody they encounter (out the back), especially when they grab it. Nothing wrong with a full size 1911 if you can carry it all day with whatever your attire. Not many in the real world find it practical - some do. I'm just posing the questions people need to ask themselves and that I've worked through myself.
hickok45 6 months ago 21
@hickok45 I can understand your concerns on the shoulder holster because you're having to consider the newbie who just bough his first gun and carry rig. There are muzzle down shoulder holsters from Galco but I understand your point. On the 1911 still not sure why you down play it over glocks or pocket guns. It's a superior design with 2 active safeties, & comes in several sizes to meet whatever the need the shooter has. The pocket .38 or LCP shouldn't be considered the end all be all in a CCW.
job1181 6 months ago

@job1181 Thanks for the feed back, certainly every thing is about personal choices.
My dislike of the 1911 is simple. its to big and to heavy, and single action to both.
As to Glocks, I do not like cocked guns period, either a 1911 or a Glock,or any other cocked gun.
In a way, I would exclude any Cocked and locked, as a carry gun, that's my opinion, and any big heavy gun period.
That does not make me, you, or Hickok bad? Simply our opinions. thanks again. My opinion is small,light,D/A S/A auto

I've had to draw my gun a few times over the years & never once did I have time to rack the action.
job1181 5 months ago
@job1181 Fear not, all my carry guns are chambered, double action, none on safety. some both double and single action. From 380, 9MM, and 40 S&W. I have Glocks, loaded not chambered. My EDC S &W 638 has a shrouded hammer for single action, I had this model for 40 years, however I now am a Automatic believer.
and switching to one of the chambered 380 automatics. and seriously considering my Bersa 40 or My Beretta 9MM for EDC. I hate the weight, Twice as heavy as My S&W BG 380. Pocket carry EDC

ladies and gentleman please..if u do not have a relaxed and calm demeanor, if u do not have a strong moral compass and a questioning nature, if u ever get in fight's or altercations that are not a direct result of your current employment stop listening to Mr Hickock on concealed carry, He is assuming u have all of these attributes and are a responsible intelligent person, the right to carry does not give u the right to carry most of you cannot drive a vehicle correctly do not go get a gun.

how would you suggest carrying a colt 1903.
qwertas1243 6 months ago
@qwertas1243 Carry any gun you can conceal and that you feel comfortable shooting. Don't wanna bring a brand new gun out that you aren't used to. :)
Wilson1592 6 months ago
@Wilson1592 sorry, i meant how would u physicly carry it.(pocket/ wasteband/ small of back/etc.) i live in texas near the gulf, so its pretty hot.
qwertas1243 6 months ago
I hate being in NJ. We're a "may issue" state which means you gotta be rich enough to bribe a judge to get CCW if you're a civilian.
pwoznic 6 months ago

GeeBeisH 6 months ago
@GeeBeisH If you're hard set on the Glock (an excellent choice) I'd stick with the G23 myself. If you're open for something else, Take a look at the Sig P250. You can change multiple sizes and calibers with one serialized gun.
BearCoup 6 months ago
@GeeBeisH Go with the 27 and never look back, I don't know anyone that doesn't shoot the 27 as well or better than the 23. Other than barrel and grip length they're the same gun. Barrel length doesn't really matter for carry but grip length really matters for printing. You can make the 27 grip longer (with pinky extensions) but you can't make the 23 grip shorter, you can even use a 23 barrel with the 27 if your set on a 4 inch barrel. Anything bigger that a 27 is just that, bigger. My 2 cents

Of course, homeland security has rebranded terrorists as gun owning americans, tea partiers, veterans, and apparently white people.

@daltonamo so think about that, when you start your videos off with, oh look a terrorist. Big fan here of your stuff though.
