  • The gameboy beats the gamegear cause of the fact that the gamegear used 6 batterys that died withen 2 fucking days =/

  • had a game gear and a game boy. still play my game boy

  • 0:16 for a really weird theme lol

  • I remember, after a few weeks, the only thing I used my Game Gear for was the TV Tuner. Watched the very first episode of Power Rangers on that sucker while on the way to a family reunion. Just made it through the episode before the battery died lol.

  • Game Gear. Still holds the record for the fastest way to kill 6 AA batteries I believe.

  • Makes me wonder: why they won't do PS Vita ads in this brass, competitive style aimed at kids? Adverting has gotten bland.

  • @Poever copyright laws, one company can't talk about another without authorization. At least on an official forum that is

  • SEGA!!

  • if only they had a good library of games, some would have looked over the battery situation :\

like the gb (grant it, it was a good system and love sega but if you dont have good games to back it up...its not gonna stand a chance)

  • if gamegear had good battery life it would of destroyed gameboy

  • @TheAgame914 And if it was less money.

  • Game Gear, I had to changed my pants after watching a Kid with the Game Gear in the movie Surf Ninja.

  • cool

  • cool

  • 90's game ads REALLY made you want things badly.

  • Graphics don't matter only gameplay....unless the graphics are just dots

  • game gear does kick ass

  • I've repeatedly told you what i don't like about Sega. Should i use smaller words so you understand?

My picture is completely irrelevant. Try harder.

  • @peri60966 Whatever, we have preferences. I in particular don't like Miyamoto.Although, I do enjoy Virtual Boys.

  • @peri609667 I am bored so I like writing comments to see if I get a response. Most of the comments are from idiots( which I have given up arguing with), a few are misunderstandings(one being the reason you are not responding to 5000NoobTube), and there are a few who are a bit smart. I don't care if it's an armor-piercing bullet, I just want to eat deer!

  • Uh Sega, THE GAME GEAR DRAINS BATTERIES TO FAST AND MOST OF THE GAMES SUCK!!!!!!!!

  • *don't go shoving it down my throat. Goddamn word limit.

  • Yes, I was not only talking about Sonic.

  • ... and then the gameboy color was invented

  • derp derp battery joke......

  • 0.29 million times loooooooooool SEGA BAU

  • I thought dogs were colourblind

  • man the game gear was even better than the gameboy advance. but yeah....... Dem Batteries......

  • i remember this

  • The dog at the ned said "FUCK OFF!"

  • wtf a dog shouthin sega. lol

  • Wow, Sega were a bunch of assholes. Their entire marketing campaign boils down to "You're a retard if you like other game companies. Buy our shit." I'm glad they went out of business, Karma's a bitch.

  • @peri609667 Agreed. Genisdoes what Nintendon't... Well Ninten-stays in business while half your employees are working at McDonalds Assholes.

  • @peri609667 Since when are they out of business?

  • @peri609667 Actually, Sega is STILL in business. They've just giving up building their own consoles and portable game units after their Saturn system failed. But twenty years ago, it would have been unimaginable to have Sonic the Hedgehog on a Nintendo system...but that's the reality now!

  • @cowellwannabe71 Actually it was Dreamcast that was their last system not Saturn.

  • @peri609667 All companies do that n00b!

  • @6000NoobTube No, they don't. Every company pretends their product is the best thing ever, but they don't slander other companies and their own customers. Only Sega does that.

Go watch a Gameboy commercial, or anything else from Nintendo. Show me where they say "Sega sucks, and so do you if you like them". You won't find it.

If you want to disagree with me, that's fine. But make sure you have a valid argument first. "n00b".

  • @peri609667 Sega DOES do what Nintendon't anyway. High speed that still doesn't satisfy your ADHD, a forgiving health system, and more satisfying plots. I never got the monkey ball thing, but still.

  • @6000NoobTube Opinions are like armpits - Everyone has one or two and they all stink. IDGAF about yours, so don't go Nintendo has the rights to the biggest franchises in the world - Zelda, Mario, Pokemon, ETC. Wii sales trump Xbox and Playstation combined. Sega isn't even on the charts. Sega were in so much debt between 1993 and 2004 that they relied on donations just to prevent bankruptcy. Things haven't improved much.

If you prefer Sega, that's cool. I'm just saying that Nintendo won the war.

  • @peri609667 That sir or ma'am is your opinion. By the way, even if you don't have an arm, you still have that area where your arm began called an armpit.

  • @6000NoobTube No, those are the facts. I'm well aware that you couldn't care less about my opinion, so i didn't bother to present it.

Regardless, i've proven you wrong. Not all companies resort to the dirty tactics Sega use. Sega does walk all over its customers. Nintendon't.

  • @peri609667 HA! So you agree Sega does what Nintendon't

  • @6000NoobTube Yes, and it does them wrong. Your point?

  • @peri609667 that your picture looks like crap. What is so wrong with Sega?

  • @6000NoobTube Certainly, they were different. Sega tried to leap in graphics, taking huge risk while Nintendo focused on game play and accessibility, taking small risks.

They both did brilliant jobs, i think these types of commercials offended more than pleased. Thus making Sega lose the fight!

  • if sony did this stuff about psp to nintedo's ds thered be lawsuits up the ass!

  • @mickmackmann I don't think Nintendo is that a big of an ass.

  • lol at the end game boy raped the game gear

  • gameboy beats gamegear, so shut up sega

  • @Supergamerofchaos

    Only because

    A) Most people had gameboys by the time game gear was released, and kids are the primary market for handhelds and they get what their friends have.

    B) If it didn't eat batteries like a sive, it would have faired better as well.

    C) The Turbo Express is the best handheld of that era (before Nomad) since it played the same titles as the main system. But again, poor marketing, poor battery life and Nintendo's grip on the market killed that too.

  • The guy in the end scared the living crap outta me.

  • lol... idk wat kinda dollar tree batteries you guys used for your game gear, but mine always lated like 4 to 5 hours :/ you buy cheap, you get cheap.

  • I'm watching this while playing my 3DS

  • Imagine if Nintendo did this with the 3DS and PsVita?

  • ha ha I love the sound effects they gave the Gameboy freakin funny stuff. Bloop plip bloop bloop.

  • Okay, to make a commercial for their portable gaming console is one thing. But to make fun of the best handheld ever created, makes a joke out of themselfs.

  • I kind of liked the game gear, but it was tetris that kept me hooked up with my gameboy more.

  • i still have my sega game gear. i thought the battery life was pretty good. it still works, except there's no sound unless you have headphones plugged in

  • Maybe if he Game Gear had a slightly better library of games, it would've held up better. Perhaps a re-design too that had a more efficient back-light.

  • GAMEBOY! you fuckin dog lol

  • I dont like this comerical

  • The Gameboy color pwns the gamegear BIG TIME!

The game gear is effin huge and you need to spend about $20 on batteries to play 30 seconds of crap games (although sonic was quite fun)

  • wow i had a gear game as a child ops wait a second i still have mine

  • My first ever system. AND FOR YOU IDIOTS COMPLAINING ABOUT BATTERY LIFE THAT'S WHY YOU BOUGHT THE CHARGERS!!!

  • I still own my game gear. Any takers?

  • I like creamed spinach.

  • @fuck192ass

None of us had heard of it as kids. We all had Game Boys. Like I said Sega was a household name and Mega Drives were the most popular console so its strange. But i'm not even sure it sold in Europe. I've heard of it since obviously.

  • They should make an ad for OLEDs and use the Game Gear as a reference to the shitty example. I had a Game Gear. They were cool, but you could tell the picture quality wasn't amazing. Not a deal breaker, but still missing clarity. The TV Tunder was fun. Too bad I can't get an analog signal with it anymore.

  • So many batteries! Why so many batteries! I asked myself that when it first came out

  • Nintendo could have made their own battery guzzling brick if they'd wanted. Instead they went for games, affordability, portability and battery life. Its funny how growing so many people had Game Boys and Sega Mega Drives and yet I never even heard of this. Such a failure it was.

  • these things suck more juice than a russian hooker on a california freeway

  • lol, I still have a game for this system! Now I have to get the old system and play it! XD

  • good thing i have a ac adapter

  • Game gear is shit....I got eye glasses because of that piece of shit. Thanks Sega!

  • @123doomdoom ahaha same here , damn it! i was 6 >.>

  • Dont mess with sega.

  • Yeah and guess who works for Nintendo now?

  • It takes 400.000 Double-A batteries to play the Game Gear, for 12 seconds.

  • @merkur32123 the most random heavy reference ever.

  • @merkur32123

So it takes 20.000.000 double-A batteries to play the Game Gear for 10 hours

What the Gameboy can handle with one double-a battery and one ball pen refill

  • @merkur32123 Thats why you buy in and get the rechargable battery pack then clip it on your belt loop and walk around like a dork....I did....

  • @merkur32123 lol i got that

  • @merkur32123

Or you could get an ac adapter, which by the way is the same as the model 2 genesis adapter.

  • @jcrowley1985 Or you can do the LED mod and get 8 hours from 6 batts.

  • @merkur32123 Or plug into a wall

  • @merkur32123 That 12 seconds worth every penny.

  • @merkur32123 or an AC adapter to play forever?

  • @merkur32123 Y U DO A MEET THE HEAVY JOKE?! alright it was funneh :P BUT SEGA SHOULD MAKE NEW CONSOLES :D id buy those instead of nintendo XD just kidding its easier and cheaper to have sega games on other conbsoles :D

  • Dogs aren't colorblind. They just don't see the same spectrum we do.

  • I loved Game Gear. It was way better than Ninendo's lousy 8 bit Gameboy. Sonic was the best game to play on there. Yea it drained the batteries, but there's was also a charger that you were able to buy. Game gear and Neo Geo were definitely ahead of technology around it's time.

  • So much no games on Game gear that they show'd sonic twice...

  • SEGA DOES WHAT NINTENDON''T

  • how can a dog say "SEGA!!!!"?

  • Did that dog just say "FUCK YEAH!"?

  • Sega made it to the next level before NIntendo, butt Nintendo finally beat that level in 2001 with the release of the GBA. Then it went to the next level wtih the DS and then again with the 3DS. What has Sega done lately?

  • @WebVMan make games. they stopped makin consoles after dreamcast.

  • @WebVMan

Sega has done your fat hairy beast you unfortunately have to call your mother.

    SEGA!

  • I remember having a Game Gear,they jiced up batteries like Gasoline to a muthafuckin car,I swera I spent $30 a week on AA's.

  • GG Shinobi 1 and 2 own, that is all.

  • i always wanted a game gear.

  • See you on the 3DS VC, Game Gear!

  • @Sylverstone14 the thing is the gamboy and game gear where out at the same time.

  • @newf360 Yeah, but even though it had color, it ate up batteries like hell and ultimately "failed". I still think it was a noble effort by SEGA to bring it out.

The games for it are coming to the new Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console in May so I'm happy for it.

  • @Sylverstone14 I owned the Game Gear when I was younger and I loved it.It was the best handheld at the time. Yeah it ate up a lot of power, I just used a couple sets of rechargeables.Every console has its downfalls, like the 3DS causing headaches and vision problems(which the long term affects are not yet known seeing as this is NEW tech)I will still buy it because the games look amazing and you can still play in 2D.I didn't know about the game gear games coming out on the 3DS, that's great

  • Yio...GameGear was a breaktrough...But somehow...GB outsold the other

  • @hollowman113 That's because GB had tons of popular titles and franchises on it, namingly the huge Tetris and even huge-er Pokemon.

  • so what if game gear sucked. at least sega had the balls to say "fuck you!" to the competition.

  • I love how back then people could criticize the competitors in their commercials.

  • tetris was still better then half of the game gear games that were made!

  • Saying dogs are stupid, also stating anyone with a gameboy was retarded. Wow. How low can they go?

  • one word: pokemon

  • WTF was at the end!&!&

  • game gear will never beat gameboy!!!, simply because of pokemon!!

im just saying, pokemon was serious shit

  • @Aaytastic game gear was dead by the time pokemon came out...

  • lol...i still have my game gear and it's in good condition. i love the 90's!!!

  • Sega joined with nintendo, so theres no chance of a new gamegear.....

  • SEGA should release a new Game Gear it would be much cheaper than a home console and if it were their entire focus they could spend their time and resource to make a great selection of games, anything beats the awful rubbish they've been releasing since the DC died.

  • Man, SEGA sure had a lot of balls to insult nintendos product's. It makes me wonder what they would say about todays competition(if they were still in the console business).

  • I still have one *_*

  • If only the gameboy micro came out in 1989...

  • Creamed Spinach games are like bowls of creamed spinach soup, if you have good taste, you love 'em :P

  • Crazy, but it´s 8 bits!!

  • Creamed spinach color games were pretty fun, though.

  • wow! the batteries on the game gear lasted long enough to shoot a 33 sec. commercial ?? I'm impressed! :-P

  • The gamegear was fun but the battery problem was really bad, on a car trip I had to keep buying batteries every couple of rest stops.

  • Uhmm what if i was color blind....F#$%in commerical!

  • Not to be the odd one out, but I loved my Game Gear! All you had to do back then was get the AC adapter for it. It's what my mom did when she bought it for me. I have fond memories of staying up late on school nights to play Sonic Chaos. I would give anything to go back to those days

  • This thing took up 6 batteries and it went through them in about 3-5 hours. No joke. It was ridiculous. The only time I ever used this thing was at home attached to an adapter. When you're 8, you don't have the money required to buy new packs of AA batteries every day lol.

  • The only good games sega showed were sonic games and shinobi! Now com'on those games were great but it's like that it!?

  • game gear sucked it was bigger and the batteries were always sucked dry it takes like 6 batteries

  • - DC adapter makes things better

    - If only the battery problem wasn't so prevalent/big, the superior speaker, and the color/backlit screen kicked the shit out of the GB, IMO [having had the original GB, the GB pocket and playing the shit out of them beforre going to GB color, and then the Advance]

  • I EATS MY SPINACH! NOM NOM >:D I ALSO EATS MY BEAUTIFUL VIBRANT SKITTLZ! XD

  • This is a big mistake by sega imo.

They make Nintendo look bad, or tried too.

People are gonna think. hmm wow is Nintendo really that bad, i gotta see this for myself.

Just like a bad movie, people will watch it for curiosity shake to see if the movie is as bad as people really say it is.

Why include you competition in your ad's ? you are advertising for them.

    Just include your own product.

I own both machines and like them both so I am on no ones side here.

    Im just saying...

  • @NESHero And just like Sonic 06! the only reason people are still playing it is to see/show how awful it is!

And it was the console wars. They were SUPPOSED to do that ;D

  • @NESHero Haha, the way you say this makes it sound like this commercial JUST came out! But in the end, if this is how you thought when it did come out, you were right! Look at where Sega is now, and look where Nintendo is now!

  • sega is a real jerk!, so... Gameboy is not copyrighted?

OUch... sega called gameboy a creamed spinach color.....

Then Nintendo should call sega (or probably sonic) a "Homeless Hobo who doesnt have a home to love him"

  • BAD DOG!!

    CHOOSE GAME BOY!!

  • I used to play the Game Gear a lot, but....with an AC Adapter

  • sega is like the mac of today, propaganda is the only thing they can do cuz they are losing in teh competition

  • so. am i a dog because i play on a pea soup green screen?. well. thats ok. at least then i am getting more than 10 games.

  • I loved the music for the Game Boy on here :D

  • I love sega, but I always hated their advertisements, youcan sell well without shamelessly insulting the competition right in their faces, still SEGA used to rock (and I still believe they still do)

  • everyone knew that gameboy was better, even though, it wasn't in color. it had better games

  • @scatcoitus Naw, it just had the better battery life, which in turn gave people a reason to buy it over Game Gear, which in turn caused developers to see where the money was to be made. Game Gear had a lot of great games early on.

  • Dog: SEGA!!

  • all they're advertising is the color. That's like someone offering you a Mountain of Sliver and a Mountain of Mud, and the only think they could say about the mud is that it has color.

  • Nintendo turned Sega into 'creamed spinach' despite all the dirty politics and gimmicks Sega pulled in the 90's. Now all the Sega moguls are drinking from the toilet in a public restroom in a Nintendo office, getting smacked over the head with a Wii nunchuck for being a bad dog. Woof...

LMAO@ The sound at 0:13 Priceless!

  • @SilentWeaponsIII lol but a n64 controller would hurt more

  • Haha. :3 Loved reading these comments. There still a massive Gamegear/Gameboy debate XD Still Gameboy did come out in colour eventually. :)

I still prefer Nintendo for most of my games.... Its more about the types of games they provide rather than the console.

Still, you wouldn't catch any company doing this nowadays... They would get hounded by the media! (such as ofcom... Not sure if they have this in America. Sure do here ^.^" )

  • I got a good one!: Some kid plays a gameboy. Then a wierd guy comes out from a bush and says: hey, theres an easier way to lose batteries

  • i remember this lol

  • oh yeah sure,go ahead and say the gamegears better(which is a lie)but whos consoles does sega use for their Games?

  • Had to take out a loan to pay for the Goddaned batteries!

  • @RileyRichardz Tell me about it, 6 batteries... at least the backlit screen was nice.

  • i will say that sega dreamcast was leaps ahead of its time.

  • SEGA's games suck and it suck, Gameboy have white-black colour, but his game is best

  • I just agree if you say its today's Sega's games, but if it's the retro's..

Any good gamer knows that Sega games are great! If not awesome.

I really like Nintendo selection, but even more Sega's.

  • @JerrikV

at least gameboy isnt the name of a game :p

  • This commercial is stupid, it insults dogs, it implies spinach is bad, and then it proceeds to show only Tetris on the GB and several Game Gear games, dishonest... !

  • @LexingtonWells As well as saying Nintendo fans "have an IQ less than 12" and "drink from the toilet". Sega was VERY aggressive with their advertising back in the day; all they ever did was insult and bash and flame their competitors at any cost. Was kinda silly.

  • @Gotmilk0112

    psssssssssssttttt.... so did nintendo

  • @lightlittlebrownboy Where? I can't seem to recall a Nintendo commercial that directly bashes and flames Sega in the style that Sega did. The only thing I can think of is the DKC commercial which only says "Not on Genesis". Nothing at all like "Genesis does what Nintendon't", and all the other BS that Sega put out like "blast processing".

  • SEGA were the underdogs at the time, so they probably had reason to believe they needed to be aggressive to get a leg up on Nintendo @Gotmilk0112

Not that this justifies it, just that Nintendo was already dominant so they did not need aggressive marketing.

  • @Gotmilk0112

Everywhere, but it wasn't retarded in you're face with SEGA's nausea inducing marketing regime running through the streets naked holding consoles in their hands ringing doorbells through suburbs like gibbering monkey's awful bad... I mean it was more subtle. Some shameless plugs in movies and commercials. Yeah sure- they actually made sense and didn't feature "BLAST PROCESSIN," but these were companies competing over territory and Sega just had a bad strategy for sure.

  • The point of the commercial was that the GB was not in colour. That only Tetris was shown hardly makes it dishonest. @LexingtonWells

As for insulting dogs, the point is that they DO have IQs lower than humans, which is why comparisons to them in terms of intelligence are supposed to be insulting... granted, they are more loyal than us and probably more badass than us, so it does have potential for Insult Backfire...

  • @LexingtonWells Hehe, actually it's actually pretty accurate, there wasn't much on the Gameboy that didn't downright suck, except for Tetris, until years after this commercial was made. Ditto for Game Gear though, but that's not the point. I remember this commercial fondly.

  • I had sega and ristar for it

  • My cousins have a game gear its not that good its the same as an old Game Boy.

  • shame it chewed up batteries like a mother f#$@#er

  • @davidtabone93 lol it was nothin compaed to the sega nomad. that shit ate 6 AA's three meals a day.

  • @BeLiketheSquerrl So did the game gear, unfortunately. >_<

  • @davidtabone93 yea if it was not for that it would have beaten nintendo and a new version would be on the market today

  • I just use my Dreamcast's DC cable. :D

  • The batteries shouldn't be a problem at all. Didn't they last 5 hours per use? That means they would last you a 5-hour road trop without even replacing them, and that isn't even taking into account the idea of bringing spare batteries for the road trip. @davidtabone93

  • @neoYTPism Yes, but when you could get around 30hrs of battery life out of a Gameboy. Five hrs just didn't cut it..............Rumor has it, this boy had to pack another bag on his road trip just to carry extra batteries for his Game Gear...... hehe

  • @davidtabone93 The LCD screen, and the ridiculous amount of hardware put into it was a real battery eater, but it overcame that problem by having an extension to it that increased the life of normal batteries, allowed for it to be plugged into a cigarette outlet in a car, and even had a rechargable battery pack, but that was only an optional extension to the already expensive $300 dollar console.
