It's good yes, but I refuse to say that it's GNR anymore. It's a total different sound. Not as much soul, and a lot less chemistry between the "new GNR". The only GNR is the old group with Slash and all. Chinese Democracy is good, yes. But it isn't GNR anymore. Not dogging Axl OR Chinese Democracy but it's just not the good old GNR most of us love.
if you listen to the full album, you'll see that its not a whole different sound. songs like There Was a Time, Street of Dreams, This I Love, Scraped, IRS, Riad have a very GNR sound.
there is a lot of soul in some songs and wild energy in others. slash and duff quit. life doesnt end when somebody leaves.
i call them Nu Guns to differentiate them from the old GNR. at the end of the day its about music and the music is very good.

the nu GNR are not trying to sound just like slash. theyre displaying the skills of the new guys rather than trying to be a cheap imitation. there are some bluesy solos but also a lot of other more technical stuff.
slash himself has said that CD is a great statement by axl.
slash admits in his book that he quit in 96 and for two years axl couldnt believe it and tried to get slash back. axl has been painted into a cartoon villian. its silly. no human being is that one-dimensional.
