The amount of particle effects and the smoothness of the animations makes it look like a console game! sweet. plus the effect designs makes each character distinguishable no matter how hectic things get. its well done and i cant wait for its release!!
What i love about GW2 professions is that, each abilities are so unique that its impossible that another player with the same profession will have the same ability as u... THERE'S ONLY 1 OF ME!! xD
@boldi1100 well that's just not true :p if you see a player with the same race, same profession and same weapon.. at least the first five skills will be exactly the same :p 50% that you will choose the same elite skill, since it's only two.. 33% that you will have the same healing skill.. So yeah, there might be more players like you than you think ;)
Yes, please dislike this class more - I always like to be one of the few that pwn your asses. Do not interest you in the gameplay mechanics of this class and get even more overwhelmed. Harhar!

Looks great. I'm hoping for some of the most rewarding combat in an mmorpg, and an open world that is at least half as immersive as Oblivion in giving the sense of a personal, hand-crafted storyline.
I see a lot of comments showing dislike about mesmers. Its an extremely delicate and awesome class in GW1, especially in the PvP aspect. In a GvG/HoH balanced team, the mesmer is what makes plays. Extremely fun to play and has interrupt ablilitys ( try PD'ing infuse health, a 1/4 second cast **for those who played GW1) CANT FREAKING WAIT!!!
@kewikewi12 I think people dislike it so much, is mainly because it is unfamiliar to them, they are used to the traditional, Warrior, Mage and Ranger kind of classes.

Something I read in "Ghosts of Ascalon", The 1st Book in the Guild Wars series taking place 1 year before the timeline of Guild Wars 2. This is the reason I think the final class will be the Mesmer. "Necromancers among the humans have been considered rather unsettling for centuries, even though they work in magic like elementalists, mesmers, and other practitioners."
Blizzard says they will never surrender to GW2, NEVER! … So they will expand their market deeper in to the China and Brazil markets to make up for the one million lost subscriptions fees they lost. LOL!!!

It isn't entirely misleading. There is a NPC enemy that casts purple spell that is somehow similar with GW mesmer's spell colors. This might be a sign of the last profession, and that's it about mesmer part of the video.

I really hope Mesmers can use guns and a sword. You could look just like a musketeer who can fight with a gun, a sword and magic. Unfortunately i kinda doubt it. But the necromancer can use an ax so here is to hoping.
there cant be a mesmer class in GW2. the mesmers where to strong in the first game, they are draining your energy meanwhile they are draining life. if they are in GW2 i will never play pvp

The video showed the team battling a ghost of each proffession, so I think they were pointing out the mesmer ghost the team battled (although I didn't really notice)
In the lore its stated queen jennah is a powerfull mesmer, meaning the profession is still alive and kicking.
lastly in a interview gamespy had with a dev a while ago, it was confirmed that of the last 2 professions to be revieled 1 would be brand new (engineer was later announced), and the other would be a returning proffession from GW1 (not cantha/elona) wich with not having dedicated healer only leaves the mesmer
Just because an npc is a mesmer (assuming this even is...) doesn't mean it will be a playable class. These are after all the ghosts of ascalon it only makes sense to represent the original GW profs among them.
@BillyNilsson yes, why are you surprised? engineers have flamethrowers, remember that GW2 is set 250(!) years after GW1! that means 250 years of technology improvements! and so we have flamethrowers. ;)
@BillyNilsson that's okay, you don't need to play GW1 to be able to enjoy in GW2 :), except for lore ofc, but you have wiki which explains a lot of lore and there are two books (third is on it's way) which connect these 250 years gaps. I believe ArenaNet deliberately set GW2 250 years later so that they can include stuff like war machinery, engineers and all that stuff. :D
While this game does look good, I think its major flaw will come from the lack of dedicated healers. I understand how some people may view this as a good thing, but I honestly don't see how they can make a raiding PvE experience that feels worthwhile and difficult without the presence of danger. I'd imagine the raid damage would be severely dumbed-down to match the no healer aspect. Guess we will see more when it comes out...
@skyzolol Not really. You heal yourself. Every character has a skill slot devoted to healing skills. There are also various ways to heal party members through regenerative effects, even if there are no direct heals. Damage mitigation is also a big thing, and there are a lot of ways to reduce or temporarily deny damage. Also, every class can res, and with the downed state, losing your health bar doesn't necessarily end the fight. The lack of a dedicated healer doesn't mean there's no healing.
I thought GuildWarsCommunity was a trustworthy source. It appears they're just allowed to give NPC's stupid names in the GW games, and lie in their youtube titles.
i can see an elementalist, a necro, a guardian, a worrior, a ranger and even an engineerer... but where do u see somthing that u could somehow call a mesmer.
I have a question.. Will there be some sort of rage mode or something? since Thieves can transform into leopards and Norns can become animals. I also saw Asura's inside machines or something. Someone care to explain to me please?
@FireFz I haven't seen that thieves can transform into leopards, I know norns can transform into the animal they choose that is (leopard, bear, raven, snow wolf.) But no, I don't think there will be a rage mode or atleast haven't heard of it, hope it helped X3.
i think last prof is mesmer ... after reading the 2nd novel of guild wars ... edge of destiny ... large hint ... queen jennah of divinity's reach is a mesmer ... as well as her ebon vanguard lady body guard ...

Also, for all you guys who don't read the GW2 blog or website, These dungeons (or this one in perticular) ware made to have enemy's with skills, looks, equipment and what not, that you can only find in the first GW.
@MetalDarkElf I'm not saying they are not good or anything, its just that with everything i said before (and it may be so in pvp but they are still seen as the least, or one of the least, favorite professions overall) that mesmer would probably be the last profession people want to see in GW2.

Its most likely that the mesmer will return. I'm not saying it will though, but after reading both the books, mesmers are frequently seen (Queen Jennah of Kryta is a mesmer for example). Before the thief and the engineer were released, ArenaNet said that the next three professions will contain "a new profession (engineer), a returning profession with a new name (thief; used to be assassin) and a returning profession". so new will likely be mesmer. As you said, its speculation :)
@MetalDarkElf The engineer is not the new profession, the engineer was based directly from the ritualist and has its skills with the difference that instead of spirits, he uses guns and turrets among other things.
The necromancer got the skills from the old necromancer and the mesmer.
So the totally new class is yet to be revealed cause all the others are either direct ports like the thief(assasin), engineer(Ritualist) & Ranger or a mix like the warrior, elementalist, guardian and necromancer.
Sure, the Engineer borrows skills from the Rt, but look at the concept art for the professions. We've got a yellow (warrior), the green (ranger), dark green (necro) and red (ele). Base colors as they were in GW1. Light blue (guardian), gray (thief) and orange (?) (engineer) were added. There's a purple/pink colored woman with a fan left. It's a scholar wich is "kind of complex and definitely plays differently than other professions". Go figure. Still speculation though.

The only clean ones are Thief comes from Assasin, Engineer comes from the Ritualist, Ranger comes from Ranger according to them. I wonder what they will come up with the new class though. :)
Also, in relevence to when the engineer was released, an interviewer stated it was his new favorite profession. In response, one of the game designers said that the 8th profession might make him (and in all caps) "CHANGE YOUR MIND *wink*" If that isn't a hint, I don't know what else would be,
Pay attention. Look closely at all the pink colored skills used by the ghosts. That is the intention of the title of the video. Only mesmers use pink hued skills.
@My101Mix It's a caster class that uses illusion and whatnot to debuff/disable/control enemies and buff allies and they wear Renaissance Italy style clothing and masks.
@TheBananaPantz Wrong, Arenanet is going to do releases of future campaigns aka cantha/nightfall, but that is a long ways off. Ritualists won't disappear I assure you...and Engineer is too quirky to be called the new ritualist. Still, I can't wait for gw2 dervish XD.
@mojododos They're more like rangers are in gw1, laying bomb traps, tossing out syngergistic skills to screw with the enemy. The gatling gun thing is the only bit resembling a ritualist's spirit, and imho it doesn't resemble it well enough. Also, since when could a rit do a damaging jump/shadowstep? Even assassins couldn't do that (which I hated). The engineer is in no way comparable with a true blue communer of the mists ritualist.
If there is no mesmer they have poked a MASSIVE hole in thier own lore... In the origional guildwars magic was split into 6 stones. All of the additional classes kept to this lore, in that they were either non magical (Paragon / assassin) or there was another explanation such as learnt communing or devotion to the gods. Arena net has always seemed to keep the their lore... it would be a shame if they didn't now... Im surprised no one has pointed this out
@basfoor everywhere...did you not notice the good old illusionary weaponry on the war/guardian (maybe?) or the illusion effect on the ranger (purple aura) which made him invisible to enemies?

there cant be a mesmer class in GW2. the mesmers where to strong in the first game, they are draining your energy meanwhile they are draining life. if they are in GW2 i will never play pvp

there are mesmer npcs to fight in game but thats not so bad although they still suck
but since its a scholar preofession then im sure it'll be a mesmer but mabe it might me a summoner because i had a look and they are certain that there is not going to be chronomancers :(
so its either between mes and summoner but like i said before it will heavily be the expectation of mesmer fans however, lets look at the positives of the game xD!

mesmer will most likely come actually.
for starts its guildwars signature class.
In the lore its stated queen jennah is a powerfull mesmer, meaning the profession is still alive and kicking.
lastly in a interview gamespy had with a dev a while ago, it was confirmed that of the last 2 professions to be revieled 1 would be brand new (engineer was later announced), and the other would be a returning proffession from GW1 (not cantha/elona) wich with not having dedicated healer only leaves the mesmer

Just because an npc is a mesmer (assuming this even is...) doesn't mean it will be a playable class. These are after all the ghosts of ascalon it only makes sense to represent the original GW profs among them.

@BillyNilsson that's okay, you don't need to play GW1 to be able to enjoy in GW2 :), except for lore ofc, but you have wiki which explains a lot of lore and there are two books (third is on it's way) which connect these 250 years gaps. I believe ArenaNet deliberately set GW2 250 years later so that they can include stuff like war machinery, engineers and all that stuff. :D

While this game does look good, I think its major flaw will come from the lack of dedicated healers. I understand how some people may view this as a good thing, but I honestly don't see how they can make a raiding PvE experience that feels worthwhile and difficult without the presence of danger. I'd imagine the raid damage would be severely dumbed-down to match the no healer aspect. Guess we will see more when it comes out...

@skyzolol Not really. You heal yourself. Every character has a skill slot devoted to healing skills. There are also various ways to heal party members through regenerative effects, even if there are no direct heals. Damage mitigation is also a big thing, and there are a lot of ways to reduce or temporarily deny damage. Also, every class can res, and with the downed state, losing your health bar doesn't necessarily end the fight. The lack of a dedicated healer doesn't mean there's no healing.

@FireFz I haven't seen that thieves can transform into leopards, I know norns can transform into the animal they choose that is (leopard, bear, raven, snow wolf.) But no, I don't think there will be a rage mode or atleast haven't heard of it, hope it helped X3.

Also, for all you guys who don't read the GW2 blog or website, These dungeons (or this one in perticular) ware made to have enemy's with skills, looks, equipment and what not, that you can only find in the first GW.

and there is no viable reason that would suggest that mesmer would be it. such as these far fetched hints.
I think i's going to be a profession that doesn't exist yet.

Its most likely that the mesmer will return. I'm not saying it will though, but after reading both the books, mesmers are frequently seen (Queen Jennah of Kryta is a mesmer for example). Before the thief and the engineer were released, ArenaNet said that the next three professions will contain "a new profession (engineer), a returning profession with a new name (thief; used to be assassin) and a returning profession". so new will likely be mesmer. As you said, its speculation :)

@MetalDarkElf The engineer is not the new profession, the engineer was based directly from the ritualist and has its skills with the difference that instead of spirits, he uses guns and turrets among other things.
The necromancer got the skills from the old necromancer and the mesmer.
So the totally new class is yet to be revealed cause all the others are either direct ports like the thief(assasin), engineer(Ritualist) & Ranger or a mix like the warrior, elementalist, guardian and necromancer.

Sure, the Engineer borrows skills from the Rt, but look at the concept art for the professions. We've got a yellow (warrior), the green (ranger), dark green (necro) and red (ele). Base colors as they were in GW1. Light blue (guardian), gray (thief) and orange (?) (engineer) were added. There's a purple/pink colored woman with a fan left. It's a scholar wich is "kind of complex and definitely plays differently than other professions". Go figure. Still speculation though.

Elementalist = Elementalist/Monk mix, Guardian = Paragon/Monk mix, Warrior = Dervish/Paragon/Warrior Mix, Necromancer = Necromancer/Mesmer Mix.
The only clean ones are Thief comes from Assasin, Engineer comes from the Ritualist, Ranger comes from Ranger according to them. I wonder what they will come up with the new class though. :)

Also, in relevence to when the engineer was released, an interviewer stated it was his new favorite profession. In response, one of the game designers said that the 8th profession might make him (and in all caps) "CHANGE YOUR MIND *wink*" If that isn't a hint, I don't know what else would be,

@mojododos They're more like rangers are in gw1, laying bomb traps, tossing out syngergistic skills to screw with the enemy. The gatling gun thing is the only bit resembling a ritualist's spirit, and imho it doesn't resemble it well enough. Also, since when could a rit do a damaging jump/shadowstep? Even assassins couldn't do that (which I hated). The engineer is in no way comparable with a true blue communer of the mists ritualist.

If there is no mesmer they have poked a MASSIVE hole in thier own lore... In the origional guildwars magic was split into 6 stones. All of the additional classes kept to this lore, in that they were either non magical (Paragon / assassin) or there was another explanation such as learnt communing or devotion to the gods. Arena net has always seemed to keep the their lore... it would be a shame if they didn't now... Im surprised no one has pointed this out
