Say whatever you want about Brendan and his (plentiful) issues, but I do think that this is quite a refreshing take on the difficulties of coming out. I perfectly buy how tricky it must be - especially for someone like Brendan with all his machismo and twisted religious/cultural ideas - to come out to one's kids. He is a psycho, obviously, but from a point of view of portrayals of homosexuality on telly, I think this is one of few that actually, genuinly interests me for the sake of it.

i don't think it is ok the way the way Brendan treats Rae but I believe she is incredibly stupid to take on someone she KNOWS is a psycho. I understand that she is trying to 'stand up for Ste' but i think a lot of the time (same with Noah) people who think they are doing something noble for Ste are really just pulled the deepest into Brendan' games because really they aren't doing it for Ste they are doing it to get one up on Brendan, to prove they can defeat him. It's a power struggle.

Oh my god. I was starting to get really bored with Brendan's story (I don't know why, probably because of the lack of Ste and excess amounts of Lynsey) but this just made everything a lot better.

Rae's got balls. I know a lot of people don't like her, but I've always had a bit of a soft spot for her. I like how she's brave but not a psycho. (ahem, Brendan)

oh Rae, yelling at people about their awful life choices may be cathartic but it doesn't actually get them to change...if it did, it would put rehab out of business. Haven't been watching this much because I hate the 'opposite of the boy who cried wolf' trope where no one believes someone till it's too late. Glad I caught this though. Deliciously melodramatic and not gonna lie, I teared up at Brendan's confession because I truly believe he'd be a different person if he knew how.

I really like that they did this with Brendan, because most of the times the coming out story stops with the parents, or the close friends, rarely do you see characters coming out the their children. Very nicely done! I've missed Ste and Brendan, but I hope that with this admission, and Declan's acceptance that they will be able to be together. Well, once Ste forgets about that little incident with Rae. Can't she find another storyline? Thanks for the upload!
