exactly. due to the late release he cannot use the power from his vertical leap sufficiently. he releases the ball when he begins to land, so it's more difficult to develop a soft touch.

What a shitty coach.
If you're going to run shooting drills, have the shooter do some line drills, and then blow a whistle to get him into a transition shot.
Or run an elbow shooting drill.
