Your way of thinking doesn`t make much sense to me. Wyatt just could write these wonderful ballads because he had his crazy-fucked-up fase in the SM. Even thought I also preferr his solo works to those with the band (which I also adore), he's only able to write it today in cause of everything he has lived. And it's also necessary to remeber that his best album, Rock Bottom, mixes crazy experiments with pop accents
