  • Je les ai vues quelques fois dont à Ottawa au Chamberfest 2010.

Margaret is from Montréal where she still teaches I believe. Their great and so unpretencious.

  • To the user that wants to Learn viol. You can usually rent one from a society. I know in SF you can rent them for $30 a month from the local viol society. For example.

The tassels are purely decorative. I'm not sure of there is a historical purpose such as showing a courts official colours etc. Savall may use them to distinguish and identify his etc. This is purely hypothesis of course. I'll ask my teacher (Susie Napper) and she what she has to say.

  • I would like to learn to play the Gamba. Where might I find one that would be good for a beginner?

  • Why do some viols have the long tassels hanging from the pegbox. I have noticed that some of Savalls bass viols have tassels too; can someone tell me if they serve a purpose, etc?

  • @intormentis Some people find it pretty.... No other reason, really.
