The Abyss - Special Edition - Laserdisc Release

Just watched this film after perhaps ten years. It is truly ahead of its time. Too bad the studio did not allow the original film, because of its sensitive material, to be released. The Special Edition is better than the original release. Alan Silvestri knocked himself out with the score, perhaps the only film score of his I like. D. Alexandr D'Maddalena

Thank God for laserdisc. It was a fucking treat beyond belief to see The Abyss fully restored.

Only seen the NTSC THX laserdisc copy never owned. Owned PAL laserdisc special edition once that had poor transfer from Encore with noise on one of the left or right channels? Own the PAL region 2 DVD which is far from perfect as it has (green smearing) around bright white lights in the underwater blue. This is telecine technical issue that needs to be fixed before they release it on bluray.

I love that movie. I never wanna see something else than the directors cut of Abyss, because this movie needs the missing 30 minutes of Story.

Wow. And the special edition version is one of my all time favorite films.
