  • Me & Fred G. Sanford mix our Ripple with Champagne & call it "Champipple". =^)

  • charles freck from a scanner darkly brought me here

  • it's the only wine that doubles as radiator coolant

  • @shadow LMFAO

  • Why the Marie Antoinette ref? Because the next day you're gonna WANT your head cut off?

  • So, THIS is what Fred Sanford always talks about on Sanford & Son eh?

  • I want some champple!

  • Thumbs up if Sanford and Son brought you here!!

  • @BricktownBubba watching it as i type. lol.

  • @BricktownBubba Yeah! Was watching reruns of Sanford and Son and someone said that ripple was a type of Champagne so you settled the bet for us. Thanks!! I told em:" See, YOU BIG DUMMMY"!! Ha Ha!

  • You big dummy, they don't make ripple no more. So we gonna have to open up a bottle of Cold Duck. Hurry up Grady!

  • Dick Tufeld is the announcer in this "spot ad" that usually appeared during local station breaks in the early '60s.

  • Also the offical wine of Marie Antoinette

  • WPLJ, Thunderbird, Golden Spur (in the big square bottle) How could I have forgotten about Ripple! Thanks!

  • just had a riiple cause of watching this advert

  • Do they still make this stuff?

  • @GypsyFairy85 no, it disappeared with the demise of the Sanford and Son tv show.

  • Are you Rippeling!!!!

  • 0:10 - Wow man! Ripple and turkey! Ripple and ham! Ripple and . . . Fritos! Ripple and deviled eggs! Ripple and hot dogs! Ripple and Doritos! Ripple and Tina's burritos! (Actually, Ripple drunk with Tina's burritos is a recipe for disaster; guaranteed to make one "chunder", as the Aussies say.)

  • The commercial should say, "Ripple: Get Ripped!"

  • Too bad they don't make Ripple, anymore.

  • Wow! Who knew that they'd had commercials for this stuff? Nowadays, Ripple is a standard term for cheap, cheap wine.

  • You big dummy. get me my ripple! And throw out that gorilla, I mean aunt esther.

  • Wow Ripple, I remember it well. The year was 1974 , I was 14 what a night!

  • I've always wanted to know what Ripple was, ever since Jodie Foster asked Tommy in the movie Alice Dosen't Live Here Anymore. "You wanna get high on Ripple?"

  • " I like to mix Champagne and Ripple and get a Cham-Pimple ". - Red Fox

  • Do they still make Ripple? I always heard Fred Sanford talk about it on Sanford and Son, is this the same ripple?

  • @starkid77 No they stoped making it along time ago befor i was even born

  • "Hear that, Elizabeth, I'll be coming to join you honey! With a glass of ripple in my hand!"-Fred G. Sanford

  • sanford and son :D

  • I always thought Redd Foxx would have been a natural spokesman for Ripple because he used to talk about it all the time on "Sanford & Son". Ex: Champagne & Ripple = Champipple!

  • And, of course Night Train!

  • How do I describe the taste? It wasn`t too bad. Kinda like a semi-carbonated fruit punch. There probably was a high sugar content too. It tasted a hell of a lot better than T-Bird. All I know is that it did the trick and the price was right. Other than the red Chianti wine my father drank, this was probably one of the first wines I ever tasted. Also, it was fairly popular among college students at SUNY in the early 70s.

  • Ahhhh memories! Used to buy this every Friday and Saturday night when I was 18. Me and the boys would get so sloshed, we said we would never drink it again, but we always did! A good cheap high-especially if you were a college student and cash strapped, "Pagan Pink" was the one to drink. Does anybody remember "Boone`s Farm Apple Wine"?

  • Can you describe what Ripple tasted like? I did a taste test of Thunderbird with a friend, and we plan to do Cisco and Night Train Express - Thunderbird was awful stuff. We also tried Thunderbird TC, which was marginally more drinkable, but both bottles got pitched. Yuck. Can't get Ripple any more. - what was the awesomely-named Pagan Pink like...? And yeah, these really begat the term 'wino' - we just had to know firsthand if they were even drinkable.

  • And yes, we saw Boone's Farm where we found the Thunderbird (Bobby's Liquor in San Jose, which also had high-end stuff). Boone's Farm is, from what I've heard, not nearly as horrid as Thunderbird, etc. - more along the lines of a wine cooler, and thus not necessary for us to try. We just wanted to try the wino wines...

  • ghetto wine!

  • The classic 1960/70's cheap high ,and worst hangovers ever ,but the cold toilet bowl on your forehead felt good.

  • Champagne + ripple = champipple =)

  • omg...WHAT A GREAT IDEA THEY SHOWED..."Ripple" with ThanksGiving turkey. You can be damn sure that next turkey day I am serving Ripple with it

  • A time-honored alley wine perfect for those special occasions behind the dumpster.

  • I wish they still made this! If it was good enough for Fred Sanford it's good 'nuff for me! LOL!

  • In 1971 when I was in college, you could get a bottle (any flavor) for $1.25. I've never consumed it since and therefore have not recentlyl checked the price. I hope it didn't go up by much-it wasn't even worth $1.25

  • You big dummy.

  • There was one episode, he mix in Lamonts Beaujolais with some RIpple and called it Beaujolipple

  • Fred Sanford used to mix Ripple with Champagne- He called it 'Cham-pipple' ! Ha ha - I loved Sanford & Son !

  • omg this is vintage, what was that stuff like 50 cents a bottle? lol

  • "Next time you Feel like getting so hamred that you forget how walk, talk, or breathe, have a Ripple."

  • low grade wine with sugar added. barf

  • "Gallo makes wines with loving care". They made Ripple for teens everywhere.

  • gallo made ripple too! wow...thunderbird AND ripple.

  • As well as Night Train.

  • And Bartles & Jaymes :)

  • and the good old Night Train Express. whoot! whoot!, all aboardto Shit face city.

  • Wine Spectator magazine reviewed some winery's newest vintage one time, and the taster said the stuff had the essence of a German barnyard. Must have been a very bad year. There was once a wine sold in the Midwest called Rosie O'Grady at one buck a gallon. Best drunk after being kept in the pickup till it was 95 degrees in the cab.

  • "barnyard" is actually considered a good quality in many high-end burgundys.

  • That was Mozart right? She looks like she would vomit and contort if she even had a whiff of Ripple. I think it looks delicious though being a big fan of "sweet wines" myself. Wild Irish Rose had a good flavor back about 12 years ago that had Ginseng in it. Winos need a better memory so they remember how good their life used to be?

  • Riffle ya say?? Yeah, yeah... Riffle's how I lost my first wife...

  • The national wine of Watts

  • @tomcalif1 and Harlem... and much of DC... and East St. Louis... heck, even Katrinaville(N'yawlinz)!

  • Ripple needs 2 make a comeback. I've always wanted 2 have a little taste: Thanks 2 Fred Sanford.

  • I bet after a glass of that...you would think its winking at you

  • The drink that winks back at you...hee hee

  • I WISH THEY STILL MADE RIPPLE

    LOL

  • Fred G Sanford. would mix some Champagne and Ripple together and call it Champipple

  • I was just gonna say that!

  • All hail Fred G. Sanford!

  • Helped with his Arthur-ritus

  • Hey, wha kinda wine ishish? Keepsh winggin ad meeee!!!!! >:o( ...

  • Gosh, look at her hair. She looks like mozart.

  • The perfect compliment for Ripple's "ring a ding flavor is"....Gorilla Cookies! Wheres aunt Esther ? Heeheh!

  • haha! this makes me think about the Grateful Dead and Sanford and son. lol Some people will get what Im sayin. xD

  • Fred G. Sanford approved lol they don't make this anymore ?

  • and this time the G stands for Gallo! haha

  • haha! omg (Bigman) i thought about that too! (Sanford n Son)

  • I wish they still made ripple. It would be perfect for an elegant dinner party!

  • Try rot gut. I'd rather stick to drinking sterno.

  • it winks back at me :)

    any other one?

  • fantastic! but where is sanford & son?

  • ripple packed a punch.
