  • you dont even need this big of a plot.unless there are gonna be 100 deer eating on it every day. My food plot will have mayb 10-20 deer on it at the most.its way smaller than this. But i put a ton of seed down. looks like green carpet in the mdlle of the woods, lol deer must love it.

  • i planted a small plot of oats, triticale, clover, and turnips in the woods about mid october, and it is growing good. been warm this year tho. usually in the 50s or 40s

  • @6rrose I think it is a little late for this year to plant. On the back of the bag for the NO PLOW, it will tell you the optimum date ranges to plant in your area. I thing where you are, is the same as us, it recommended from mid to early April through early May. You can also plant again in mid September for the fall and winter. Glad you like the video and hope it works out for you. Good luck!!

  • This is awesome and is what I'm hunting for. This is 11/19/11 and I'm in Brookville, IN (southeastern part of IN) about 3/4 mile from the Brookville lake. My question is when can I get started. Do I wait until spring of 2012 or is there something I can do yet this year or early next ? Thanks again and good job !!

  • I have did this stuff in WMA's in GA deep back in the wood and I have shoot nice deer of the small food plots like 12 foot long ,4 foot wide I do it because Georgia DNR sucks and they don't offer food plots and the land is way over grown where you almost need a Machete to get back in the deeps part of the woods so we have very bad land management in Georgia .So yea this works great without tilling when you need to have a food plot in badly managed land.

  • im 14 and i been putting deer plots together for the last 3 years and the last i been doing it by myself. plowed and no plowed plots. most effective is the no plowed i don't know why but the no plow works the best for me. i put them everywhere: woods, feilds, nasty wet marsh. everyone one has bee effective none of them have not been touched by deer! it gets fun to see what the deer like if they like the sweet stuff or the biter stuff. mine like the sweeter kind. im from wisconsin. great job man.

  • a leaf blower makes things much easier and isnt heavy.

  • Great video guys! perfect for what I was looking for, Thank!

  • @MiniOutdoorAdventure We are glad that you both found this video and it gave you the information you were looking for. This is the exact reason we made this video. After you plant your plot, go to our website and e-mail us some photos. We would love to see how it turned out. Best of luck from the Brow Tine Pro Staff!!

  • @hunterjaymiller Sorry for the late response! Thank you very much for the suggestions. We are going to be following them and might even make mention of your suggestions on an upcoming food plot maintanance video. We appreciate your followig our videos and value your input.

  • Awsome video. Just what i was looking for on youtube. Im gona be putting in my first food plot ever this fall. Cant wait

  • Good video. I have a couple of ways to make them even cheaper. 1) Buy your clover seed from a local farm seed supplier. I use Heritage (used to be Landmark in Urbana) Find out what kind of clovers the farmers in your area are planting and use those. 2) Buy bulk fertilizer like triple 19 and just use less (you can also get this at Heritage. 3) Herbicide to kill the grass and broadleaf weeds is expensive. So, just take a weedeater back there and cut off the tops of the weeds and grass.

  • I make most of mine using Roundup, a harrow drag behind the 4 wheeler, and a hand seed spreader. I plant mine in Champaign County too..they look beautful...but the deer won't touch the brassicas. I called a company that sells purple top turnips..they didn't believe me. When I showed them photos of the 1.5 acres of untouched turnips they told me my deer were stupid :) Going to plant a small corn field by hand this year.....

  • great video. i live in clark co and have several friends who put out food plots Mainly in Champaign co though. they say it works
