@saraj12, I'm from the US and I don't see why scotland wouldn't want this fabulous resort. As long as the resort is environmentally sensitive, who wouldn't want all the money it's going to bring in? What I don't agree with is forcing someone to give up their land. Government shouldn't be allowed to seize private property for something like a resort, even if the resort will bring a lot of jobs and valuable tourism to the area. Personally, I would have taken the $700,000 if i'd been that man!

@sndblstr It's simple, Scotland doesn't wan't this resort because we already have over 500 golf courses, that's about the same as Texas in a area a 1 tenth the size so there's certainly no shortage of places to play golf! Sure the 'Farm' has been in the family for years, but they seem to lack the resources to properly maintain it, and since neither of them are getting any younger and with no young ones to pass the decrepit property on to, they may be happier in a newer home.
