  • nice old cat!

  • muito bom , maravilhoso

    nunca tinha visto ..

    me apaixonei

  • She's not doing anything anybody else can't do. Julie Covington, who originated the role will always be the best. ONJ and Laura Branigan did great versions as well. All others were just, meh...

  • Elaine this is the Best song Ever Written and I Like Many. I am Now Kelly Clerkson's TOP Doctor.

    DOCTOR Dickie.

  • Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon want their uniforms back

  • I remember that moment of my childhood when i heard the new Eva Peron had die, and this song starts in a Spanish version (the original one) so I felt in love with it. But sounds so delicious with Elaine Paige, someone that I knew thank to Susan Boyle. Greets from El Salvador - Youtube is the only source for us to know about these artists, thanks.

  • @jorgemelendex Same thing happened to me from Argentina

  • I've listended to several of these, (thank you, U-Tube), and I'll go with Sarah Brightman as my favorite. Each to their own.

  • @44032 Madonna did a good job also. I am so fascinated with Eva Peron's story and her husband loved her so much he built evita city in the shape of her profile. Many people hated her and said she was a whore but when she died she asked that all of her possessions be sold and the money given to the poor. Amazing woman she was.

  • que honor

  • È uma mùsica triste...

  • Patti LuPone, Elaine Paige and Paloma San Basilio (Spanish version). Never heard anything quite like those three ladies singing this song. I'd love to hear ANY of them sing this live. :-) I was fortunately enough to see Patti LuPone in concert singing this with the piano, but would love the hear the full orchestra with her.

  • i sang this song when i was 10 , thinking i could change things , in my life , this song made me the strong woman i am today , believe in what u sing , xxx

  • איך היא דומה לגולדי הון לא?

    שרה מקסים...

  • I think Patti's original versions have so much more feeling in them. but both amazing talents

  • Surprised that it took her so long to make it to Broadway. She could have saved us from Ms LuPone. Imagine our world without Psycho Mama Rose!

  • I'm named after elaine paige

  • BRAVO Elaine!!!

  • I think this is the best version of "Don't cry for me Argentina"

  • y have we not got artists as good as this these days

  • Is this Lulu from To Sir With Love?

  • nice voice, nice accompaniment, but I hear it conveys nothing, just like if you were listening to a speech Poer understand what you say no more. a poor presentation, devoid of emotion, to play the role at that time to sing it represents;I apologize to anyone who may be offended by my opinion

  • @Clauret Really? I thought that she had a great deal of feeling in her voice.

  • Great voice. I didn't know Princess Leia loaned out her dresses.

  • PARECE Q ELAINE PAGE ESTÁ COM O NARIZ ENTUPIDO....MAS TBM,NAUM SOU FÃ DELA,ENTÃO,OS FÃS Q ME PERDOEM,MAS NÃO ACHEI NADA DEMAIS,FORA O PROBLEMA DO NARIZ...

  • She always mixes the song and feeling up into one spirit. She is agreat singer.

  • This is also a great version of this song. So much feeling goes into this song. Young people should hear this type of real music sometime.

  • @grammy2121 Wise advice! I couldn't agree w/you more, given the music in today's world~

  • Remember the Falklands, " Don't cry for me Argentina"

  • @king122007 thankyou at least somebody understands talent when they see it xxxx :) thankyou X

  • Well perhaps no one "OWNS" a song, once released...Patti Lapone is Passionate & Highly Talented.......Elaine Paige will always be my Evita!

  • Golbalman, you are displaying your own brand of unfortunate ignorance by judging all Americans from a couple of You tube posts. It is a bit presumptuous. Very silly indeed. My condolences to you.

Wonderful performer and a wonderful show!

  • What a sight!!

  • For one of the most beautiful song's of all time. Elaine Paige nails it and dose Evita proud im sure. Argentina must be so proud of Evita and this song by Elaine Paige in memory of Evita.

  • If the comment about Britain are by americans then you just confirm what the world thinks about you... ignorant, uncultured, arrogant and uncivilised. Except for jazz and its offspring, Motown, America had no original music. It came from England, Ireland, Italy, Spain, and the austro-hungarian empire where operetta became broadway musicals. Elaine Paige was the Composers choice. Madonna has some good business sense but is a media invention and knew how to manipulate the system nothing more.

  • Just saying, that's one tacky dress.

  • the best rendition not even Patti Lupone can match it.

  • Remarkable singing, title of the song says don't cry but you still do as the such nice singing from Elaine can't help from crying.

  • @ALFAVILLIA the british are the reason theatre is here, look at shakespear? yes i agree i have heard better then this from others. i strongly agree with the celebrity comment it is based on celebrity but that is people such as WAGS and people like that, not elaine paige who can belt out a tune or two. I thing she is amazing and there was no need to target us as a race? british are simple? thats like saying all blondes are dumb? sterio typicial! there are talented people in every race just sayin

  • @gingerlewis97 well said.

  • @gingerlewis97 well said.

  • brits are simple? how are you! we are talented as a nation! and elaine paige is amazing! simple trianed voice? simple shouldnt even go intot he same sentece as elaine paige! oh and another thing ur comment is incredibly racist? as a thatre perfomner from britain i take offence and i am shrue every other brithsh person does! how are you brits and simple... alittle bit of a contradiction dont you think? so i dont care where you come from dont start with my race or highly amazing people.

  • The Brits are so simple. Elaine Paige is pretentious and boring. She's just a simple trained voice. I had never heard of her before Susan Boyle (and I'm well traveled). There's a reason why we never heard of heard of her. Even Madonna!!! who can't sing, shows more passion. Jeez!

  • Looks like she picked up a lot of weight... is it the dress or is it her... the dress looks way too big for her

  • Why wear such a strange gown? Although her queenly entrance and her dress distracted me, once Elaine begins to sing, the finery becomes irrelevant. She is one of a handful of singers who immediately draws you in - powerful but restrained and heartfelt as evident in this video. She really is a wonder . . .

  • If God made a better singer than Elaine Page, he kept her foir himself.

  • Her voice is perfect. oh my word.

  • This song is a perfect fit for Elaine and she is a perfect fit for the song. I wish young people knew what real music lik this is. No Lady Gaga here!

  • @grammy2121 I am one of the "young people" and I love Elaine Page AND Lady Gaga. You don't have to be biased in your music tastes. Elaine is an amazing talent and Gaga is an amazing entertainer.

  • OMG...She's GREAT!

  • Now THIS is how this song should be sung, no one else (including Patti) can touch Elaine's interpretation!

  • Great voice,,,but a great dramaqueen too.

  • I love the fact that I'm Argentinian :)

  • Elaine is really great. !!!!

  • I believe she dress up through the night, ha ha ha

  • Wow, such an amazing voice! :O

  • lol. I thought it was Lady Gaga with the dress.

  • what an artist!! So deep and moving.

  • @samsonrock777 i concur , amazing voice

  • Still the best!

  • Madonna "did" the movie version of "Evita"....

  • I love Elaine Paige, especially as Grizzabella, BUT not as Eva... -.-

I don't like the way she cuts off the notes... My opinion.

    Madonna ftw.

  • nice version I like elaines emotien in this song :)

  • I think this was overwrought and lacked subtlety.

  • Eat your heart out, Madonna...

  • @cutegrandma why?*???? Madonna is a pop singer :))) don't u understnad it

  • Respond to this video... your comment just showed how ignorant u are....

  • Elaine Paige is fabulous but ever since Evita played in Brazil, a brazilian singer called Cláudia received the nomination for the best Evita. It was fair.

Cláudia is away from the spotlight where she belongs.

Congratulations for both /elaine and Cláudia.

  • I just about die @ 4:03

  • Wow, beautiful voice How old is she?

  • @aab17320jolla Answer to your question. She is 63.

  • @aab17320jolla she was 50 in this clip

  • Did she parachute down in that dress???

  • I love her voice...one of the best interpretations in my estimation.

  • Genialne wykonanie !!!Bravo!!!

  • I love this song...I always cry when I hear Elaine sing...She's extremely talented!!!

  • @kayleighcolfer This is real voice...with high quality...very nice to listen and relaxing.

  • She has so much feeling when she sings. Amazing voice as well.

  • wow

  • shes awesome¡

  • love Elaine's voice and how she puts so much passion in to each performance she truly makes the song hers like she means every note, her voice is like a choir of angels singing

  • DIOS MIO!!! ME LLEGO HASTA LA FIBRA MÁS ÍNTIMA DEL ALMA!! QUE VOZ, UNA GRADE DE VERDAD!!!! GRACIAS!!

  • Fabulous performance, and what she was wearing was utterly stunning!

  • the best performance i've ever seen of this song.. great elaine.

  • Angel from God

  • She is such a beautiful person and sings wonderfully, And still is a beautiful person and still sings wonderfully!

  • She was prettier then. Now she's strange. I'm guessing she had some surgeries...

  • can we compare with Amy Winehouse ???

  • only complain about her singing if you can sing like her o_o she is very good.

  • That. Outfit.

  • why, because when I saw you perform in London you were so true to the charecter, here...I don't know, could be anybody and your outfit is a no no, my opnion

  • Lloyd Webber is genius! And so is Page!

  • The best delivery of Evita I found to this date. I think it's magnificent!

  • Magnificent! Madonna who?????

  • I agree much better than madonna

  • @javarn64 NO WAY..SHE HAS A STRONGER VOICE.. BUT MADONNA. SERVED AS BETTER FIXTURE TO THE MOVIE... , I LIKE THIS A LOT.. BUT MADONNA DID AND EXCELLENT JOB AS WELL

  • I agree much better than madonna

  • @javarn64 I disagree. Elaine has a techinically perfect voice, but she has that overly trained and mannered theatrical voice which I don't like. Madonna whilst technically an average singer has raw emotion in her voice and in terms of her personality- ambitious, power hungry and full of star quality she was perfect as Eva.

  • @TheSolitaryHeart It's not overly trained at all. You probably don't like the style because you're accustomed to popular music, which is just personal preference. To me, madonna's voice lacks in strength, emotion and technique.

  • @theLabradorite Ok it's just mannered then. But listen to Madonna sing Promise to Try about the death of her mother and you tell me she has no emotion in her voice....

  • @TheSolitaryHeart I've never listened to that, but I'm sure she is great. What I meant is her voice is not that great for Evita, sorry if it wasn't clear. I have nothing against her at all. I love many of her pop songs, but as Eva I love Elaine.

  • Go Elaine. you're FAB

  • I love the way Elaine doesn't swallow the mic like most modern singers, absolutely fabulous.

  • @piaffreak1 Of course she doesnt! She is not singing above her vocal ability. Modern singers tend to push beyond their true ability and NEED to stuff the mic in their mouths to increase the gain of the mic!1

  • Can't get over "existunce" and "distunce".

  • Classic! Nothing more needs to be said.

  • OH MY GOD, ITS GLaDos!!!! Mind blown

  • @maobolongaita I honestly hate to disappoint you, especially as a Portal + Portal 2 fan myself, but this isn't the voice of GLaDOS. Ellen McLain is the voice of GLaDOS. Love them both. ^_^

  • @maobolongaita No, this is Elaine Paige and GLaDos was voiced by Ellen McLain. Both have great voices!

  • don't cry for me my love

  • the difference between this and many other great versions is the passion Elaine Page displays in her performance

  • Why do I like this song? It makes me feel sad.

  • Miss Paige has an amazing voice.... this is wonderful ..love all by Andrew Lloyd Webber..

  • Why don't you people stop squabbling, stop cursing, and dispense with your racist crap; act like adults. THEN, listen to Elaine Page and Barbara Dickson sing

    I Know Him So Well.

    Rajah35

  • Elaine owns this song!!! But that's no secret, erbody knows!!

  • I bought that same outfit in Tescos.

  • madonna is much better

  • It doesnt get any better anywhere in the world. She is the goddess

  • Nobody in their right mind would criticize Elaine Paige BUT - having said that Julie Covington's performance of Evita on the original concept album is inimitable - nobody does it better - such a shame she didn't take the part when it went on the stage.

  • SORRY MADONNA I LOVE U, BUT THIS IS MUCH BETTER.

  • Professional!

  • Sorry, I like Jane Zhang's version better.

  • This twat can sing but I still love Madonna no matter how good others can sing. Madonna has something no other singer has. Elaine Paige is boring. She just stands there. Madonna is entertaining to watch.

  • @LibTyrMatrix2011 she may just stand and sing but that just makes you listen to her voice not the way she moves. Although it would be interesting to she how she would dance to this song :)

  • no pity necessary :) respect all music, come from generations of it some just sound better is all......

  • seriously look at the number of hits elaine paige has compared to lupone. no question who sings better

  • @diyuma10 I honestly pity the generation that bases the quality of a performance by its number of 'hits'. Its a shame that you all cannot simply appreciate the beauty and melodiousness of Page's version while respecting LuPone's power and might.

  • @diyuma10

I'm with you on your preference for Elaine Paige but I personally don't think charts mean anything more than a marketing ploy.

They're not a reflection of talent. The only thing that does that is time. As in who's going to be popular in 200+ years? Not something we will ever know so there is no point getting into arguments as to who is the better singer/band/writer/.....

    Just enjoy what you enjoy.

  • sorry ..just listened to both elaine paige and patti lupone ......elaine paige wins hands down.

  • First saw Elaine in the video Memories from Cats. A beautiful woman with a great voice and also a great actor. Check out Memories where she sings better than this.

  • Wow.

  • @Ahdren lupone wishes she had a voice like paige. lupone is good for the shouting and stomping, but she doesn't have an inch of soul.

  • @loggats Listen to Lupone and Audra Macdonald sing the same duet as Barbara Streisand and Judy Garland and tell me she has no soul. Paige has that awful british 'WHITE' sound in her voice, similar to Julie Andrews. Totally sexless

  • @Ahdren wow. when you're done being a racist cunt, get yourself a new pair of ears too.

  • @loggats Racist? What planet are you on? If you cant hear the over enunciated plum in mouth sound she is making, you need YOUR ears checked. Some of the best singers in the world were and are British, I simply don't like her style. The character is a latin woman who had fire in her, not this warm cup of tea Paige delivers. Racist? For your information I'm a white Australian who lived in the UK for years. Thick cunt!

  • @Ahdren so it's a class thing, rather than a race thing? how many neurotic fixations do you have exactly... you fail. And you're Australian.

  • @loggats Well thats a racist comment if you want to get into semantics. Its not a class thing either, or can't you read dim wit? Its a style thing. Only one issue from the beginning. Thats all. You can go now.

  • @Ahdren is this you still failing? major loser.

  • @Ahdren hey hey.. I'd still bang Julie!

  • I had never heard of Elaine Paige until the Susan Boyle phenom....so I looked her up here on youtube.....effin awesome!!!! =D

  • I just remembered a really great music teacher I had in high school, we rehearsed this song with her. I skipped the class once and instead of reporting it she asked me where I had been. I told her I had to go buy the new Nirvana album (In Utero) as soon as it came out that morning and she said that was a good reason. Since she respected our choices in music, she taught me that a passion for music goes way further than your preferred style

  • @Foolanna wow that was long time ago, really great teacher

  • First and best :)

  • I'm sorry but when Evita was made, Elaine Paige should have been given the part. Why Madonna? The backers got jittery over whether they would get their money back. Another longshot for the part was Julie Covington who released the song as single which top the UK charts.

  • @enfieldchace It was offered to Elkie Brooks before Covington. Elkie turned it down.

  • Andrew is a musical genius

  • @SaucyStudio Amen to that

  • Comment removed

  • MADONNA IS BETTER

  • aguante argentina !!!!!!!!!!!!!11 carajooooooooo

  • She's just like Patti LuPone....except talented!

  • powerful, charismatic!

makes me proud to be a woman :)

  • she is brilliant, touching and beautiful!

  • This lady is one of my very few idols in the world. Amazing amazing talent.

  • No one in the world can compare with Elaine Paige's vocal and emotional dramatic ability. Her talent in singing and acting is magnificent and incomparable. That's the reason she's The First Lady of British Musical Theatre. She's a Legend and simply the best! BRAVO, ELAINE!!!

  • @lite7761str there is one. lea salonga. imho.

  • zum niederknien schön

  • Elaine lacks the vocal dramatics to pull this song off. Patti Lupone is the ultimate watermark for this role/song. I fortunately saw her on Broadway in NYC and no one can come close to her.

  • I love her voice, but wonder why she seemed to talk through the song rather than sing it?

  • @rannajim well i think cuz she's singing it like musical

  • Its the old school lady gaga!

  • Elaine Paige may be good in some matters, but she pales in comparison to Patti LuPone singing this song. I definitely don't like it when she cuts off short in almost every phrase. It makes the song awful when there are so many pauses in between words. It makes her seem weak. Yes, sometimes it's good to have breaks, but not as many as she does. Patti LuPone also beats her in giving a performance. You can tell in LuPone's voice that she means what she is singing and gives us action, unlike Paige.

  • Yes she is good. But after listening to all the versions I can find here I still prefer Karen Carpenter's. That little R&R girl sure could sing.

  • She is indeed a goddess of voice!

  • omg the dress :DDDDDD
