I agree with Valon, FFV had one of the most enthralling storylines of the series, it was a beautifully made game and will always be one of my top 4 favorites of the series
Due to where this song is used in a number of games, it has perhaps the most inspiring song of the series... though, sadly if you say "The Final Fantasy" theme to most people, they think of Prelude >.>

see people who don't know why videogamers do videogames, we do videogames beacuse most of us are athleiticly terrible (at least some of us are ie. me :( ) so instead of going out and doing stuff, we stay in our rooms playing in virtual worlds that some random people have made. see, most of us gamers don't have real life adventures, so instead of finding them we play videogames.

@BillaWoh yes! people might think it's weird to play videogames all the time, but we do it to learn, to learn right from wrong, good from evil, false from reality, monsters from bullies (i can't see a difference really :P)
we shall continue to strive on in our games, wether it be in rpgs or in action games, WE SHALL GAME! and one day, when people think we are too old for gaming, we MAKE videogames (well thats what i want to do when i grow up) so that other kids may have this same expirience!
Final Fantasy IV will always hold a special place in my heart because it was the first Final Fantasy game I had ever played so hearing the theme brings back memories of my first battles and stuff

it's too bad this franchise went down hill once Sakaguchi left. Was the best video franchise of its time and will always (hopefully) remain a great video game franchise.

@looneyluke888 it feels i just defeated the final boss and while im walking down a long isle with all my freinds stairing at me i go to the end where the king of the nation gives me a gold metal and crowns me the prince of half of his land and the credits are rolling.
@FFYears FF13's failure to be enjoyable isn't because of its gameplay mechanics, though. On the other hand, Kingdom Hearts isn't a traditional RPG so that's not a particularly good example, and it IS customizable because you get to control what abilities you equip and even to an extent how your character growth proceeds. FF4's character growth was TOO simple by modern standards -- not that simple is bad, but it's simply not what most players expect.
FF9 went back to FF4's model and people criticized it for a lack of depth in gameplay. Now, in the interest of keeping the discussion interesting, some games (FF6 and FF10 come to mind) have been criticized for having TOO MUCH flexibility -- that is, there was too little to distinguish the characters from each other. (FF5 doesn't get this because it's like having a party of 22 distinct characters instead of four generic characters) -- so obviously it's possible to go too far the other way.
@codahighland that's a good point,indeed an interesting discussion :). i liked 6 a lot,but i can see why people criticize the magicite system.i don't mind a little customization,i just don´t like it when they exaggerate.ff7's materia system was kinda good,but could've been better made.ff8 is just...ughh:(....i freakin LOVED ff9,beautiful story,great characters,and a welcome return to basics,one of my fav. games ever.ff10's gameplay mechanics are not the worse ever...

@FFYears CT was a masterpiece in terms of its story, for certain, but its game mechanics were rather bland overall. The multi-techs were a nice touch, but modern gamers expect both compelling story AND interesting mechanics. I'm not criticizing those games at all (I LOVED FF4 and CT), just pointing out why things have changed since then.
@codahighland yeah and look how bad the main ff series is now.i had zero fun while playing ff13(it's kinda the avatar of games: all visuals,and little else). after that game i started playing kh: birth by sleep and i'm loving it.there's purity in simple rpgs,there are pure qualities in their simplicity. why does every rpg nowadays has to have overly complex gameplay mechanics(looking at you ff8)? the old games were better because they kept it simple.costumizable rpg mechanics are overrated.
Lets see... I and II are the originals and sound very technoish, III was techno in an orchestral way, IV was the first to use an orchestra and had a very grand, militaristic almost, sound, V was more graceful and delicate than IV with more of a focus on peace than wart, VI was majestic and very much like IV in the beginning, then it let loose with with the intensity and runs of the second half. VI is the best then V, then IV, then I, then III.
Sorry, my mistake, but there is still a version missing! 1 and 2 are both together as "origins", but the theme can be only from one of those two, i bet 1. Then i tougth 3 was 2. Then, i make my question again: No final fantasy 2 theme?
@usuariofuturista if you listen to both 1's and 2's versions(the original 8bit ones),you'll see that they're the same,there's no difference,therefore i decided to just put 1's version together with the origins cover,to imply that that track belongs to 1 and 2.
Hearing this theme always makes me cry for some reason... I love it so much, so I can't exactly pick a favorite. Although, the first time I heard it was in FFIV, so I might mentally compare other version to that specific one.
Reading the comments between the uploader and stuff, the first FF i palyed was 7 on the computer, then a hiatus til my parents got 10 in 03. well, i think i played emulated copies of IV, V and VI, although they were named 2-4.
@Reiinhart to me they just should have had a classic gameplay style with mp(seriously what's with removing mp in ff8 and ff13?) and have the characters learn magic and abilities by leveling up like ff4,chrono trigger and in dragon quests.to me that's the best kind of evolving system,i wished they used that in every game.

@drxwnedxwxrld i'm glad you like it,the reason i hate it is because it's nothing like the other ffs.it's extremely linear(no traditional shops,no huge explorable world map where you can go to varios places,you just walk and fight),the music(except some tracks that are epic) is the worst yet in a ff(no classic prelude,no classic ff theme and the new victory fanfare is horrible), and the plot and characters are average at best.mario galaxy 2 feels like a mario game,why can't ff13 feel like a ff?

@FFYears I know. FF12 is extremely underrated. It's my favorite along with FFIV, XIII and I guess VIII. And idk. I'm not a veteran of FF (I played almost all of them, but I actually started playing FF a few years ago), so the victory fanfare/prelude being absent along with all the other changes didn't bother me.

@Reiinhart in my opinion ff8 should've had a simpler way to costumize your characters,it's overcomplicated.in my opinion square should do like enix does with dragon quests: keep ffs exactly like they always were.
@FFYears I dunno about FF8 though. Though the customization for each character was really hard to understand, when you finally get the concept, you can strengthen your character until its immune to most of the negative status, or have the highest defense that it wont go past 3 digit. But FF12 was DEFINITELY overrated.
I can just imagine the hero and he's friends fighting evil and after all of that, just looking at the world on top of a tall rocky cliff with the sun glittering on their weapons and armor..

@TenshiLurodi It will have characters in story in XIV. Just because its an online game doesnt mean the story wont be good. We just have to wait and see how it turns out. One things for sure, Final Fantasy XIV will be more a traditional final fantasy game than XIII was, even if it is an online game, it has all the elements to make a fantastic final fantasy experience.
Final Fantasy VI will always stand out in my mind as my personal favourite. Just so many memories from playing that game. Hearing this theme at the end when youre sailing away on the Falcon with Terra's hair blowing, true video game mastery right there people.

@FFYears FF13's failure to be enjoyable isn't because of its gameplay mechanics, though. On the other hand, Kingdom Hearts isn't a traditional RPG so that's not a particularly good example, and it IS customizable because you get to control what abilities you equip and even to an extent how your character growth proceeds. FF4's character growth was TOO simple by modern standards -- not that simple is bad, but it's simply not what most players expect.

FF9 went back to FF4's model and people criticized it for a lack of depth in gameplay. Now, in the interest of keeping the discussion interesting, some games (FF6 and FF10 come to mind) have been criticized for having TOO MUCH flexibility -- that is, there was too little to distinguish the characters from each other. (FF5 doesn't get this because it's like having a party of 22 distinct characters instead of four generic characters) -- so obviously it's possible to go too far the other way.

@codahighland that's a good point,indeed an interesting discussion :). i liked 6 a lot,but i can see why people criticize the magicite system.i don't mind a little customization,i just don´t like it when they exaggerate.ff7's materia system was kinda good,but could've been better made.ff8 is just...ughh:(....i freakin LOVED ff9,beautiful story,great characters,and a welcome return to basics,one of my fav. games ever.ff10's gameplay mechanics are not the worse ever...

@codahighland ...or anything(even though the sphere grid is another example of exaggeration) but the abysmal plot and unlikable characters ruined it for me.never played 11(online rpgs are not my thing).i liked 12,unlike many fans i saw what they were going for: a return the nes style of ffs,even though the costumization went too far,but i managed to get used to it.now playing ff13 was like watching a star wars prequel.it's a sterile game that's devoid of any ff charm.

@FFYears/@gigadule: Simple -- there's no character customization. Every time you play the game, the characters get exactly the same growth and the player gets no sense that they're in control of how they power up.

@FFYears CT was a masterpiece in terms of its story, for certain, but its game mechanics were rather bland overall. The multi-techs were a nice touch, but modern gamers expect both compelling story AND interesting mechanics. I'm not criticizing those games at all (I LOVED FF4 and CT), just pointing out why things have changed since then.

@codahighland yeah and look how bad the main ff series is now.i had zero fun while playing ff13(it's kinda the avatar of games: all visuals,and little else). after that game i started playing kh: birth by sleep and i'm loving it.there's purity in simple rpgs,there are pure qualities in their simplicity. why does every rpg nowadays has to have overly complex gameplay mechanics(looking at you ff8)? the old games were better because they kept it simple.costumizable rpg mechanics are overrated.

Lets see... I and II are the originals and sound very technoish, III was techno in an orchestral way, IV was the first to use an orchestra and had a very grand, militaristic almost, sound, V was more graceful and delicate than IV with more of a focus on peace than wart, VI was majestic and very much like IV in the beginning, then it let loose with with the intensity and runs of the second half. VI is the best then V, then IV, then I, then III.

@usuariofuturista if you listen to both 1's and 2's versions(the original 8bit ones),you'll see that they're the same,there's no difference,therefore i decided to just put 1's version together with the origins cover,to imply that that track belongs to 1 and 2.

Reading the comments between the uploader and stuff, the first FF i palyed was 7 on the computer, then a hiatus til my parents got 10 in 03. well, i think i played emulated copies of IV, V and VI, although they were named 2-4.

@Reiinhart to me they just should have had a classic gameplay style with mp(seriously what's with removing mp in ff8 and ff13?) and have the characters learn magic and abilities by leveling up like ff4,chrono trigger and in dragon quests.to me that's the best kind of evolving system,i wished they used that in every game.

@FFYears what i liked about the game final fantasy 12 was the licences aspect - because you didnt need deticated healers and real powerhouses, this way everyone did a part of everything. so as long as everyone got to learn the same magic and stuff then that would be great, but ff4 was a little hard, what with all the rosa and the summoner girl being 1 hit KOed and then cecil having to rely on potions!.. umm plz reply, give me your opinion on WHY you liked that type of leveling.. @gigadule what i loved about the licenses and gambits is that they made the gameplay costumazible to each player's tastes.many people couldn't see what square was trying to do with ff12: a nes style final fantasy with more focus on gameplay instead of story.rpgs are games,even though many people rate as movies nowadays.if people say the nes ffs were great why not give this one equal credit? sorry for the long reply,i just enter "ff12 is sadly underrated and ff13 sucks ass" mode there,sorry. @drxwnedxwxrld i'm glad you like it,the reason i hate it is because it's nothing like the other ffs.it's extremely linear(no traditional shops,no huge explorable world map where you can go to varios places,you just walk and fight),the music(except some tracks that are epic) is the worst yet in a ff(no classic prelude,no classic ff theme and the new victory fanfare is horrible), and the plot and characters are average at best.mario galaxy 2 feels like a mario game,why can't ff13 feel like a ff?

@FFYears I see why you would hate it because of the linearity, but I feel that you hate the music because it's not Nobou. Or maybe you just hate it. Idk. I see why people would hate the game kind of... but I feel many of these people who hate FFXIII are mad because it's not Nobou. I like Hamauzu's battle and boss theme more than any other FF's, btw. And FF always reinvents itself, I don't think it's ever going to fully go back to the old formula.

@drxwnedxwxrld that's not it.i liked the ff12 soundtrack and nobuo only composed the vocal theme song.my problem is that i find the music to be just plain forgetable,and the fact that the game does not carry on the tradition of having the classic theme,prelude and victory fanfare(the new one just....urgh) doesn't help.say what you want about ff12(underrated in my opinion),but to tell the truth,it was the closest we got to a new nes style ff.the best recent ff was the ff4 for wii:clasic style ff

@FFYears I know. FF12 is extremely underrated. It's my favorite along with FFIV, XIII and I guess VIII. And idk. I'm not a veteran of FF (I played almost all of them, but I actually started playing FF a few years ago), so the victory fanfare/prelude being absent along with all the other changes didn't bother me.

@FFYears I dunno about FF8 though. Though the customization for each character was really hard to understand, when you finally get the concept, you can strengthen your character until its immune to most of the negative status, or have the highest defense that it wont go past 3 digit. But FF12 was DEFINITELY overrated.

@TenshiLurodi It will have characters in story in XIV. Just because its an online game doesnt mean the story wont be good. We just have to wait and see how it turns out. One things for sure, Final Fantasy XIV will be more a traditional final fantasy game than XIII was, even if it is an online game, it has all the elements to make a fantastic final fantasy experience.

Final Fantasy VI will always stand out in my mind as my personal favourite. Just so many memories from playing that game. Hearing this theme at the end when youre sailing away on the Falcon with Terra's hair blowing, true video game mastery right there people.
