Cochrane got his assed kicked here by Probert, Probert beat Brown the same way. It's interesting to know that after both fights with Cochrane and then Brown that Cochrane's and Brown's careers went downhill after they lost to Probert.
True that Cochrane only lost a handful, and this was one of them. The fights he lost decisively seemed to come after he had the knee surgery (cracked kneecap) in '85. Before that injury, he was one of the top 5 in the league.
I was at this game...I also have a hockey fight tape with it. For some reason, I had forgotten how lopsided this was. Probie was a bad, bad man ... and I hated when he came to town with the Wings cuz I knew that as tough as our guys were (we had Peluso, Manson, and a young, green Stu Grimson)...they couldn't beat Probie at his best. He was a beast.
the Way the announcer talks you'd think the fight was close!! " Glad both guys didn't get hurt"??? Cochrane got his ass handed to him!! Thats about as one sided as a fight gets!
This was one bloody game I remember. The undercards included Duane Sutter vs. Mel Bridgman and Steve Chiasson, Behn Wilson vs. Rick Zombo, and Dirk Graham vs. Gerry Gallant. Miss the late 80's/early 90's Norris Division.

Cochrane was as tall as Probert but Probert had that freakish reach advantage in most every fight.

Back when hockey was the F-ing BOMB!!! Probert and Kocur ruled the NHL. Man, I love watching old school fights.

Ought to show you how tough Probert was. I've seen Cochrane lose maybe 3 fights in his career and this was one of them.

Cochrane was tough but no match for Big Bad Bob, the great Bob Probert, the most entertaining athlete of all time.

Totally agree. that was a tough day for Cochrane. But Glen would take him on again, anytime.

It's too bad Probert didn't get his name on one of those 4 RED WINGS' Stanley Cups. He's an unofficial hall-of-famer.

It shows how much respect he had for a veteran like Glen Cochrane, I thought his announcing of this was quite honorable.
