There is nothing to stop a homosexual from getting married. A homosexual man and a homosexual woman can get married just like any other couple. What they want is to do something else and have the courts force the rest of up to play along as it is is "marriage".

Anybody who goes thru the process to adopt a child (and there are a lot of hurdles) really wants to love that child! Does that mean single people in Arkansas can't adopt either! So all these kids are still sponsored by the state? Whatever! One of the most backward states there is. MS and AL are probably first and second followed by TX next. The whole south needs dire help!

I agree with you Matt. As an African American male atheist I see the hypocrisy. I don't think it is completely our fault because we were denied an education for so long and forced to believe in certain things, which is why I believe that we (blacks) are so far behind as a people to this day. I think that because blacks in America were forced into Christianity, we believe homosexuality is a sin, which is why I think the majority of blacks in this country are homophobic & voted for prop 8.

As a native Arkansan who has long since moved to Seattle it saddens me that few things have changed. The ballot measure was a referendum on gay parents that had the collateral damage of destroying many children's lives. It is my hope that the US Supreme Court will one day grow a pair and end this silly legalized discrimination forever.

I'm black and I do believe that many African Americans are hypocrites and they don't even realize it. We've had to overcome many obstacles that are similar to Homosexuals such as lynching, bashings, and we have had to deal with many laws that were so called Separate but Equal. It's sad to see that even a group of individuals that have been through similar situations have failed to learn from their past history in making our future a bit more tolerant

The world is full of real problems that aren't even in the public consciousness yet because the average person is so busy worrying about non-issues like homosexuality. Only religion can hinder the brain to such an extent that they can defend their own beliefs and needs so fervently, and then turn around to strip someone else of their rights for imaginary reasons. The worst part is that they think they're being 'moral'! I swear, I will do everything in my power to crush religion someday.

During the civil rights movement Dr King and others struggled to get laws passed for racial equality, But Its very hard to ammend the constitution, So they didnt pass laws for negro rights instead they passed nondiscrimination rights, which is okay but everyone wants to benifit from the ammendments to constitoution that blacks fought hard for.

I didn't even hear about the one in Arkansas (I live in California, and the news stations were covering Prop 8 to the exclusion of most everything else).
I agree with Matt that it's even more repulsive than Prop 8, though. It kind of touches a personal nerve as well, since I actually hope to adopt a child someday, but may or may not ever get married.
I'll just add it to my list of examples to tell people who ask me why I'm so hostile to religion.
