Could you tell me what version of Daphne you are playing this on? It's the one game I cannot get to work because it says it's missing a file in the rom. 02.bin is the missing file.
That's what you control, the crosshairs. Makes it more difficult than simply pressing left or right when the arrows flash as it has to be positioned right in order to have enough time to move it to the required location in many instances.
My lord, this is one of the most gloriously cheesy FMV games I've ever seen! It takes a special kind of anime to have no clue as to what is happening while still having one helluva good time.
I'm no stranger to the ways of Japanese manga and anime, far fetched stories. But this one takes the cake. What the heck is the deal? why is everyone after you so bad? why are they flying low with choppers? why is there seemingly no problem driving through a massive arena sized storm sewer? I'm more baffled then anything after watching this. But Otherwise. good skills man, your really good at this :)
Couple of more notes and a question or two, since I never played this version:
After watching the whole thing, I think I actually like the Sega CD version's soundtrack better in general.
It looks like the SCD version has a few prompts that weren't in this one at all, I can't really think of a good reason to do that. (I noticed at least one spot in the last level had a brake in the SCD that wasn't here, I think.)
Do you have to aim for the boxes when turboing in this one?
Yeah the Sega CD version is pretty ugly and much too choppy... it's a shame video technology was so bad in those old consoles, lots of FMV games I would have loved to see in much higher video quality.
Thanks a lot for the upload. I absolutely loved this game. The animation is astounding, to think all of that was animated by hand, the level of skill is incredible.
I have to say I'm a little disappointed. Not by your playing, of course, that's always good. More by the content of the game itself; the attract mode made it look like some kind of prototype Twisted Metal/Carmageddon affair, rather than a quick time event.
This game looks awesome...to watch. The gameplay looks horrendous, like the Dragon's Lair games. You didn't play them cause they where so fun, you played them for the chance for some cartoon t&a as a horny little kid :D Atleast I did...

@AlienInferno
I had that same issue, I'm sorry but I can't remember how I solved it.
I think you actually have to find a version that contains that file.

I'm ashamed to admit that I never knew that the Sega CD game Road Avenger was a port of this game.

The red car and animation style keeps making me think of an 80s cartoon, Mask.
I wonder if Roadblasters for the NES was based at all on this, though Roadblasters played more like Spy Hunter.

Anime time-space: everything miraculously slows down when you're about to hit something.
Anime driving: small corrections of your direction are impossible. You have to turn the wheel completely at least 3 times or not at all.
Anime driving 2: You're only allowed do drive at the following speeds. 137 kph, 221 kph, 30 kph. Anything else will end in the universe imploding.
Anime agriculture: You need at least 356 harvesters.

Wow, I like the nice clear visuals of this one a lot compared to my old Sega CD copy. I like the Sega CD's opening theme better though.

I didn't know they could make such beautiful games in 1985.

Awesome stuff, are you going to record the other ones too? (Time Gal, Ninja Hayate and Cobra Command?)
InsertDisk2 9 months ago
@InsertDisk2
I might actually do that, but sadly these aren't available for Daphne or any emulator I know of... so I'll have to play some console ports.
I'm thinking I'll record the Playstation versions.

@laffer35 Ahh, that's too bad they aren't on Daphne. But yeah, PSX should work out too.

Great longplay. Is this done in Daphny Emu ? I got all Mame Roms but non of the laserdisc games work (although claimed supported).
I request Cobra Command as next vid :)

@AmigaOmega
Yes, it's done in Daphne, the game works perfectly there.
It doesn't have any recording functions though so you have to use FRAPS or similar programs to record stuff.
