@needzpower2 car was Pullied with a 3.4 inch full exhaust tuned with DHP powertuner, lowered with a pro kit, cars long gone now. but i have a dd buick regal that i drive now also.. love the 3800 series. this car hauled
@sarniaGTP Mines been quite the female lol. spun a bearing which sent a rod through the block. then i spun another. got the whole bottom end machined and balanced. ( was unfortunatly done on my dad's dime, finished paying him off just recently so nothing done performace wise internally :( ) had grounding issues with an o2 sensor. but when it decides to run right it's been dyno'd at 245 hp to the wheels. it has a tune, colder thermestate, colder spark plugs, custom 4" intake. i love it though :)
oh my god was the microphone totally exposed and hanging by a wire or something? then when you were editing the video you cranked up the volume to overload everyone's soundcard so it can sound like total shit?
I have a question I have a 2000 gtp it's all stock for now but Im going to get a CAI cat back exhaust and what I want to know is what other or any supporting mods will I need to run 3.4 pulley also I'm getting a chip to reprogram the PCM to take the limiter off
How do you reprogram the PCM with a chip?? A 3.4" pulley swap only requires mods like: exhaust, colder plugs, CAI and a PCM swap. I'd recommend zzperformance for the PCM swap. It does much much more than just take a rev limiter off!!
@Gtpthesleeper first off u can't buy a chip 2 tune ur car. you can get a pcm or have a custom tune on your pcm. but for the 3.4 you need u bend delete, cai, atleast 180* t-stat, 104 autolite plugs, pcm, and headers would be great but you can run stock headers.
@kenstaten ok the t-stat is not needed but it is a good mod headers would be a smarter mover even just ported ones and for anyone racing this car I recomend a tranny cooler better safe then about $1500 sorry lol
@tylersl14 how is it not true? a gtp comes from the factory as supercharged. thats what makes it a GTP. if you modify it later, to say a turbo or N/A, then maybe, but factory stock, they're all supercharged.
@tylersl14 ok we werent talking about 91-96. let me rephrase, 97 and newer are all supercharged. i assumed it was agreed that we were talking about the model gtp depicted in the video, and not a gtp that was older, and basically a different model.
@Inuyashatg98 this has already been established. i know that. if you look at the later comments, i corrected and said i was referring to 97 and up and not in fact all grand prixs
uhh no a 3.2 TL won't an di mean the Type-S. The first Type-S's did 0-6-mph in about 6.5 with auto and 5.8 with the manual. THe 07 and up does like 5.5 with the manual. A stock GTP is about 6.5 and it's only an auto only and a four speed
the olny reason a stock type-s might beat a stock gtp from a dig is b/c the gtp has no top end due to a stock down pipe it goes from 2inch to 1.75inch and bends in a small U shape where there is an O2 sensor in the middle of the U on top replacing this part you can get up to 15hp to the wheels on near stock gtp's so if you just do that there a big jump in power this is not a slow car if your motor in new or kept well and is a 97-99 they have done 14.9's type-s only 15.1,poor kept gtp 15+ in 1/4
@MaddDogg81 2002 3.2L TL 1/4 mile of 14.8sec.'s 1997-1998 grand prix gtp 3.8L with a 1/4 mile of wait can it be A 14 POINT FUCKING 8 the same time no way but I thought MaddDogg81 said the TL was faster oh but wait it isn't and the funny part is the more u mod the both of them the faster the gtp will be over the TL get this you put 50 into ur car AND I'LL PIT JUST $50 OF MODS INTO MY CAR AND I WILL BE FASTER the only reason the gtp is slow is b/c of the knock it gets when it's stock $50=no knock
It must have been a 2003 or earlier Type-S sedan that only came auto and you have forced induction and a bigger engine with mods. A new TL Type-S is fast and the newest one is also fast
I think I run mids 13's in my RSX-S turbo on only about 6.5psi. I've beaten 14 second cars so I assume I can do under 14. An Acura TL can beat a GTP stock and will roast as non SC Grand Prix
Actually, I raced a TL Type-S and beat it twice in the quarter mile. I noticed it was catching up after the 1/8 mile marker but it didn't have enough to catch me. I think Acuras are nice but they are often over estimated. My car is a GTP and is lightly modded but I was racing a Type S which should make up for the power difference.
actually, my 2003 GTP bone stock with a gutted airbox and K&N drop in ran a best of 14.504 so dont know why u think these cars dont run in the 14s stock. My buddy's regal GS with a home made 3" intake and a cheap cat-back ran 14.46 on "hockey puck" tires
Thats a really good time for a stock GTP. My best time in my GTP is 14.4 with 3.4 and supporting mods. I have noticed that these GTPs vary quite a bit in performance depending on mileage, air quality, elevation, etc.
well all i had when i ran was a K&N drop in filter and a 3" pipe that i ran down into the fenderwell and it was a cold night and i ran 14.504...but i just did a 4" intake and a 7" K&N powerstack and i ran a best of 14.58 on a warm night
i lost to some dude the other day he had a boss dodge charger daytona version i think it had 550 horses not sure but i think it had a v8 , it was pretty cool had halo lights and it was black swear the guy got it to at least 120-125
=D nice i race to but its street racing , i have a grand prix gt 3.8 v6 i mostly just race my friends after school , hes got a acura tl v6 not sure on the liter , and then just some random people on the streets somtimes i usaly win but we all loose somtimes
very nice vid, but the sound from the first 20 secs sounds like a power/yard tool revving frenzy. I like it. it made me laugh. then the racing started and my jaw dropped to the floor. in awe.
hey it s my home track. i like being 30 mins from a dragstrip. yeah some of those gp s go , my buddy used to have a 92 gtp. it was a 3.4 liter with the 5 speed and went pretty hard. i think they called those the richard petty edition.u would b a close race with my mustang maybe i ll see u out there sometime.
what, a gtp with a 5 spd.? I've never heard of that. that would be awesome. I have never seen that anywhere. I didn't even think they made a manual tranny for a 3.8 or 3.4 front wheel drive.
Back in the 90's GM did put the 5 speeds in some of the front wheel drive W-Body's. The old style GTP's w/ the DOHC 3.4... and the Z-34 Lumina's w/ that motor as well. They were extremely rare... i think only like 600 or 700 Luminas were ever made w/ a 5 speed from 92-94.
I ran a 13.91 @ 99.27 w/ a 2.06 60 ft with my 97 GTP several years ago. Only mods were 3.4 pulley, u-bend removed, and a cai. No pcm, downpipe, catback, race gas, rockers or anything else except headlight removed, no spare. Those GTP's can really respond with a few tweaks.
What'd you do to your GTP? It sounds like a beast (Unless that's the sound quality). I've just got a smaller pulley for the supercharger, and it runs high-mid 13's.
what mods do you have? and how much hp you have?

a 3.2L TL will loose to a GTP if both cars are stock in all ways other then 2 events
City mpg and top speed, the TL has a like 130+ top speed and the gtp has a limiter at 129
with a new chip in the gtp it doesn't even come close
