i love this band..i'm a big fans,a real fans...what ever they did with the song is always awesome....i never complain anything about their song,i never hate anyone in the band. because i'm a big fans...if you don't like a little bit different sound in their song..just stop listen. you're not a fans....stay way from this band...
You guys care far too much about this shit. Yes Jason's kind of a generic session drummer dude, but fuck it I don't see what he does that's so bad. And I'm a drummer and a goddamn good one before you even start. The weird sound effect is kinda cool, nice to see them trying new stuff.
ugh, what's with the retarded sound effects in this song!? "wiggling a sheet of cardboard backstage" sums it up. completely ruins it. they've been injecting many POINTLESS sound effects/electronic rhythms in so many old songs when playing them live lately. sounds so bad!
This has nothing to do with Jason. It has to be with Robert Smith. Saw 'The Cure' Live back in 2004, and they're a great live band, excellent performances all the concert. The problem is the new stuff. It just don't move me anymore like they did in the past. Still got my Cure Collection, some vinyls were sold in the middle of this decade, I keep buying the remastered cds, but I'm no longer excited to get new songs from them. Good Luck, cureheads.
I'm sick of reading posts against Cooper. Get over it. Is not his 'technique' or his skills as a drummer. You're comparing the best albums of The Cure (with Boris), to the Non-relevant music that Robert Smith has written since 1996. Nobody cares if The Cure releases new albums anymore. Last Great Album was 'Wish'1992. Hard to say this because I still love their early work: there's not a single song since Wild Mood Swings that has the label of 'classic' or even 'remarkable'.
That sound is the echo of the drums off objects, that happens a lot in concerts in open areas. They aren't added sound effects or whatever. Also, coming from someone who has played the drums their entire life, believe me, Jason is a lot better than Boris as a drummer, he's a lot cleaner and overall more talented. Just listen to his fills, especially in the most recent records.
haha jason better than boris? hahaha are you jason's relative or something?
if he is so great then 1.) why jason is not considered for an interview in a drummer's magazine? boris' drum patterns where always considered as good examples of drumming/
2) why he hasn't came up with good intros like the ones in Just like heaven, in between or why can't i be you?
3) why he needs the aid of the tapes with lots of percussion sounds prerecorded?
I'm not Jason's relative, I'm someone who's played the drums for over 10 years haha. The tapes and sound effects are not to "aid" Jason, I can't imagine he can even hear them. It's just to add to the sound. Whether it's Jason's decision to add those or Robert's clearly the band likes the sound of it. Also if you listen to the self-titled Cure record the drum fills Jason plays on that record is incredible! How can you not hear it! Just listen to "Us or Them" it's breathtaking.
@KingsleyTV i really tried to like Jason but it's impossible to like something (his work) this dull and lifeless. Add to that the terrible drum sound and the lack of good musical tast and we have what fans call " the word drummer in Cure history".
Us or them is a mess of random drumming all over the place!
@gnzvideos It isn't a mess, and since you aren't a drummer, you wouldn't know that. Look you don't know what you're talking about you are just going by what magazines say and by what sounds good to yourself. You know nothing about proper drumming technique or style so you really can't say who is better. I personally prefer Boris over Jason too, but Jason really is a better drummer. Technically speaking, Jason is much better, and I do know what I'm talking about.
@KingsleyTV that I'm not a drummer? so you must know me well hahahaha
Jason is technically better? oh sure sure haha.. the way he plays those messy and trashy half-opened hi hats, the way he bashes the cymbals, the way he doesn't play all the notes in the Disintegration drum pattern, sure he is technically better :)
p.s. have you seen the video of Close to me in Brasil 1996 or A forest in Pearl? look how he doesn't catch the rebound in the snare drum .. technically better than Boris??????
@EnricoBagnato Roger has revealed that the prerecorded sounds began with jason's arrival. And it can be confirmed by listening to WMS that is full of stupid electronic sounds, also Bloodflowers.
hi man wanted to know if there a cd or a dvd with this show
already thanks!

yes it really suck, but maybeit's not jason's idea, he's just the cure's drummer.
of course that idea came from the boss bob smith.
Jason do a good job, but of course nothing to do with Boris, boris williams is of of the best drummers ever, he's the man!!!!
