Oh my God, those were the days. Some of my earliest memories were of this thing. The one in Rockford where I lived had a weather broadcast in the background.
Thanks for uploading this, it's really awesome to see how this channel used to be back in the year I was born.
I liked how they played music from the radio station in the background.
I had never seen the Electronic Program Guide before, but I definitely remember the Prevue Channel before it became the TV Guide Channel, I like both of them better than the TV Guide Channel.
But now it seems that the TV Guide Channel is going to completely get rid of the TV listings altogether after 25 years. :(
The guide data comes for wgn america a channle that was never on any Chicagoland cable system. So they did have it but never offered wgn america and wgn ota to people in Chicago land.
I actually have a video somewhere of the error message you speak of - looked kinda like DOS in a red colored small text. So this was an Amiga, huh? I hate the TV guide channel these days and miss this one. I recorded a lot of this stuff like this at the unused ends of videotapes. Will need to go through and post more, as there is a small group of followers on this. Did you see the Telaction video I posted, by chance? Now that's a blast from the past.
I also remember when Media General Cable add Premium Prevue Channel next to Electronic Program Guide then when TV Guide buy out Prevue they became Premium TV Guide Channel
Media General Cable in Fairfax Country VA now Cox Cable use to have Electronic Program Guide from 1985 untill 1996 when it was replace by Prevue Channel which later became TV Guide Channel
That is exactly like the one I remember on Adelphia Cable years ago...Wow, there is actually a live announcer on the radio at 1AM, usually today it is all automated at that hour.
Is it true that back then you needed to hook up a Amiga computer to get this menu guide?

@MatthewMTU Not on your TV at least, you would just turn on the channel and see this

Wasn't this the theme song to either "Mac and Me" or "Munchie Strikes Back" but Dulce was great at Selling Furniture.

analog cable is dieing and digital has it's own guide on screen also there is full screen TV Guide channel with no guide at all.
It may be fun to a fake HD 16:9 EPG and or a digital full screen guide for mini digital boxes with no guide.

At about 1m00s, someone misspelt "you're" as "YOUR".

My grandparents once had the same exact Electronic Program Guide station too, but with a ad ticker on the bottom of the screen.
Their cable company later replaced it with the TV Guide Network (which was then the Prevue Channel) sometime around the mid 1990s.
