  • OMFG you are a great guitarist so young and you are going to be famous like George Benson one day;

  • @GigglingGirI Man, wow! That quite the compliment. Thanks!

  • Wow 15 years old and that fact that you'd even listen to this music is amazing in itself. But to play with that kind of tone and feel??? Damn I'm 51 and you could teach me a lot--you already did. Right on!!

  • @SaintClarity Oh, thank you! I appreciate your flattering words. Sorry for the late reply.

  • Riveting. Thank you.

  • @nat4mac Gosh, thanks so much!!

  • I am in love. Keep up the outstanding playing.

  • @barefoot55 Thank you so very much! I really appreciate your words, and I love your piano playing!

  • First I saw your rock me babe clip and I liked It really but now I'm blown away!

If you play Wes kinda things on your age you are really musically gifted.

It's good that you are open to different styles and you see all the great bluesmen as the ones you can really learn a lot from.

    I think you're awesome!

  • @foggy4180 Thank you so much! It so nice to hear that you appreciate the old blues guys, too! :)

  • I love the "hybrid picking"

  • @hardbop805 Thanks

  • Nice job! And nice jazzbox! What kind of amp are you using?

  • @FullMetalTrucker Hi, I am using a Fender Hotrod Deluxe. Thanks for the compliments, too!

  • What a wonderful job.Well done,I'll commit today to hearing everything you have posted on Youtube.

  • @JJF10101957 Gosh, thank you! I so happy you like what I am doing!

  • Wes would totally want you to play it your way, that's the nature of the blues IMHO, if you copied it exactly, or did it exactly the same way everytime, you'd be nothing but a human ipod.

  • @lowew79 You are exactly right, and that is how I see it as well. Music is not supposed to be a regurgitation of how the last guy did it, it's supposed to be an avenue where you can freely express your soul and feeling through the music.

  • Hey Alicia, great playing and for goodness sake, stick with it! You'll be continuing the great contribution made to jazz guitar by women such as Mary Osborne and Emily Remler. Keep listening and I hope you've started playing with a real rhythm section. The pre-recorded material is fine to help you find your voice but the real skills are learned playing with real musicians. If you haven't got anyone close by see if some local musos would mind you sitting in for a couple of numbers. Good luck!

  • @ethelthefrog60 Thank you so much. I am completely flattered that you would say all those kind things!!! I can't believe you think that I'll be like Emily or Mary. That it just so wonderful to hear someone say. I appreciate it very much that you think so highly of what I do.

Unfortunately, jazz groups are few and far between where I live, but anytime the opportunity arises I take advantage of it.

  • @bluesbaby8 That's great to hear, Alicia. Even if you can't find a whole band, try another like-minded guitarist or even a piano player. Guitar and piano is one of my favourite combinations for my own playing and I am always inspired by all the Bill Evans / Jim Hall recordings. Anyway, there's no rush, even though you probably have the energy and concentration to play 24 hours a day. Take your time, and don't forget to experience life in general; in the end that will shape your playing.

  • Man you suck!!! I'm just joking. young lady. You sound fabulous. You keep it up. I've been playing forty years and you sound way better than me!

  • @cgptony11 Thank you for the nice comment. I am so happy you like what I am doing!

  • most people that try to play wes tunes sounds terrible. Not you.. nice.

  • @Supermarbru Thank you for the very kind compliment!

  • I am astounded, very well done. I love your Guild, is it the Artist Award?, I wonder what year it is... I love your playing as well... thank you papatom/stratconnection com

  • @papatom609 Hi, thank you for the really kind comment. I am playing a 1996 Guild X170 Manhattan. Sorry for the late reply!

  • Excellent. You really brought a smile to my heart. Keep your dream going.

  • @gruntrvn Wow, thank you! That means a whole lot to me! Thanks, thanks so much! Sorry for the late reply!

  • Wow, great!

  • @cattleprods911 Thank you! Sorry for the late reply!

  • Awesome job! How do I get my 7 year old daughter to take interest in playing jazz??? Keep jazz alive

  • @johnlocke74 Thank you so much. You could play some records around the house, and see if she likes it. Sorry for the late reply!

  • Not sure, but I think you're using a pick. If you try it using your thumb instead of a pick, you will get a really nice mellow sound like Wes had. It's a little more muted sounding with the thumb. Give it a try and you may be surprised how the tone/mood changes. Great playing! Keep on keeping this music alive.

  • @elfhermie Thanks for the compliment. I wasn't trying to achieve a Wes sound on this tune. I was trying to play the song my way.

  • awesome, keepin it alive...

  • @JLEGuitarLessons Thank you!! I appreciate it!

  • Sounds Great! If you want a more wes like sound, try playing without a pick.

  • @natdogg12342 Thanks for the kind words. I actually didn't want a Wes sound. I just liked the tune and decided to play it.

  • Wow ! Love Wes, love the way you play it ! I never had that much ambition, taste, style...or talent...at that age.

  • @Bojazzki Oh, thanks so much. You are far too kind. Thanks, again!

  • Stunned!

  • @ShamanKish Thank you for the mind blowing words!

  • are you using the dr880 on this one too? are you able to send those dr.880 backing tracks to other people? if yes can you send them to me? haha nice playing!

  • @thedonace213 No, I am not using it on this tune. I'm using a Hal Leonard backing track. I don't believe I can send them to you. I mean, there is probably a way, but I am not sure what it is. Thanks for the nice words!

  • Nice guitar! More jazz tone than the other Guild.

  • @MrJLev The Starfire, you mean? Yes, definitely. I agree. The Starfire is so fiery. Gosh! Thanks for the compliment.

  • @SIRONEDRAGON Thank you so much!

  • You've got it all, plus the love for the music. Keep going, listening is still the key, so said Jim Hall, and you've been listening to a lot of good players, i can tell.

  • @androidguitar Sorry for the late reply! Thanks for the very flattering compliments and comment. It means a lot to me!

  • Super Jam!

  • DANG....nailed it!!!

  • @619mikeg Thank so much for the nice words.

  • It's people like you, girl, that completely ruin my self-estimation.

  • I had a Guild just like that in 60s! I don't remember where I got it and where it went. It had a good BB tone somewhere on the middle toogle switich position!

  • @Antarblue That's really cool. Yes, it definitely has a good BB/TBone tone in the middle. Very versatile guitars, in my opinion, you are not resticted to one genre.

  • Good Alicia! Nice touch, feel, vibrato. Thanks for posting!

  • @Antarblue Thanks you so much for the wonderful comment!

  • Wish I could play like that Alice. Well done, you have a lot of talent. Keep enjoying your music. Can't wait till my daughter is old enough to hold the guitar.

  • very well done!!!!!!

  • I wish I could play like that...just simply superb!!

  • Showing overall good feel and tasteful playing, sense for phrasing, and just 15 yet.. I'm impressed :)

    This made my morning

  • What a pleasure to see/hear a 15 year old girl make a good honest attempt to play some Wes Montgomery. This is an optimistic sign for the future of music.

  • Bravisssima! Excellent. I love you, verylemon

  • Is that guitar a Guild? It sounds beautiful!_Chris

  • Yeah, Guild Manhattan! Thanks!

  • Very smooth playing Alicia, loved it from the first note to the last... and another thing I must say, you have a very very good vibrato, very subtle and almost transparent, I don't know how to say it, but it's there without being too obvious. Every time I'm amazed not only by your very good technique, but even more by the soul you have, it really is a rarity for someone so young.

    5 big stars...

    Bravo
