He did not lose control from spinning fast. He was paralyzed from the collision with the other jumper. Flying in the head down position at speeds of 165mph makes people move across the sky really fast. They collided on accident and he had an AAD that deployed his reserve. AAD = automatic activation device. It cuts your reserve closing loop to deploy your reserve at a certain altitude if you are moving faster than the activation speed. This is for cases such as this or if you're knocked out.

As a skydiver learning to freefly myself, this is very frightening to watch. No one wants to test their AAD out, especially in a situation like this. This is something I have only seen in my nightmares, and I cannot imagine what was really going on. Also, you have some damn good friends. Your friends reacted exactly like they were suppose to. I live in the town where this happened and yes chris is paralized. hi shoot opens automaticly by his syprus.. a parachutes deploys itself at 700 ft. and also he didnt break his neck when he hit the groung it happened while in freefall when his student hit him feet first in the chest.from what i hear chris is doing great today, he writes music and is developing a suit so he can jump again. SKYDIVE DELAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Chris was jumping with a student ( purple suit). The student slowed his rate of freefall by changing position and Chris did not have enough time to react. Chris's head impacted the students ribcage and Chris broke his neck in midair. That is why you see Chris's arms and legs flopping around. Chris was had a back up parachute which automatically deployed at 750 feet when Chris was unable to pull his main canopy. Chris had a hard landing because he was unable to control his canopy when he landed

@kiko4685 They were free-flying inverted, and if I remember correctly, collided with each other, resulting in him breaking his neck instantly, and becoming a quadriplegic. You can see his body in ragdoll phase during decent in freefall, and under canopy. The chute activated automatically at a preset altitude via a device known as an AAD (Automatic Activation Device) like a "Cypres System". Pre-programmed for say: 1300ft at 100mph - it activates and deploys the chute automatically.
