why don't you try the program "wax"? it's free, similar to movie maker, AND has cool transitions like sony vegas!

do this: keep saving it, so imcase you have to close it or it closes itself, you can open it up from when you saved.
dont use to many effects. that can really clog it up
dont make your video too long.
