White Pony and Diamond Eyes are my two favorites. White Pony still carries some of the trip-hop influences while Diamond Eyes was a very original sound. Gotta love Deftones

How the hell is Deftones a better album than White Pony? Maybe Diamond Eyes or SNW but the self-titled was pretty lackluster for the group. Doesn't mean it was total crap though. I convinced myself a long time ago that the Deftones lack the ability to create total crap; they just can't.

I also think part of the reason people don't give self titled the credit it deserves is because it has such an original and timeless sound for Deftones. It was the album which in my mind, is self titled, because it completely represents everything positive about Deftones.

In these comments it looks like pretty much everyone is putting self titled up against Diamond Eyes, and in my honest opinion, self titled kicks the living shit out of Diamond Eyes. Whoever says self titled sucks never really has a good reason. They just go "oh yeah worst album self titled". Im so sick of seeing people hating on it. Ok, maybe you like diamond eyes or SNW better, but that doesnt make it any less good of a record *in general*. Every song on it is just good.

Been a solid Deftones fan since ATF. Seen them live multiple times, love it every time. Of course as mentioned all musical taste is subjective... But I'd probably say each of the albums (having their own sound and theme) is just as good as the others, in its own way. You can tell the progression in their sound, and appreciate every installment.

Diamond Eyes has a dynamic kick that people did not get from the band since the Around the fur into white pony era.... But Self titled and Saturday are both reallly good albums....(the team sleep feel is really strong in the SNW) It's hard for me to really say which is better... I would just say that their most memorable album is White Pony cuz it really took them to the next level as artists, but I never see wrong in what the tones do man, the have soo much vibes.... Such a great fuckin band

@buzzsaw1003 Funny, because I know tons of long time fans from public metal forums and in real life who consider their self-titled album to be their worst. Diamond Eyes, to me, is their best flowing album. All music is subjective, and to say that only new fans would like it, is quite a generalization, and hell, an out right lie. Diamond Eyes, again, just me, is a welcomed addition to all that is the greatness of Deftones. It certainly has their quality brand of music.

@OnesOwnKingman I'm currently 18, and went backwards in albums from the middle by time line and then back to the current since I found them later into their career. I like their old stuff more... but I like Diamond Eyes as well. When they open up with Diamond Eyes live It is one of the most heavy things you will hear ha... Then again, they do a pretty good job of making you pleasantly deaf in all of their songs live haha.

@staygo1d me too but i disagree. I love Deftones self titled. Probably my favorite, just goes to show, that everyone is not the same, and can connect with something different than yourself. I mean fuck, Battle Axe, Bloody Cape, Pins and Needles, Minerva, when girls telephone boys... that whole fucking album rocks. Not a big fan of "lucky you" but everything else on that album kicks ass.
