Well, if all it's doing is shutting down, chances are it's not necessarily damaged. It's shutting down to prevent damage. Cleaning up the dust and the cooling assembly should solve the shutting down problem and you'll probably be back up - good as new.
@tigrafwedw: The best thing you can do to put it off is to keep it elevated and try to avoid working on it in bed with it sitting on your pillow. Obviously, it takes longer to build up if you work in a more dust-free environment.
@Skynetduo: Ya - those things have a lot of screws. I remember the firs time I took a notebook apart about 8 years ago or so. Think I ended up with about 6 left over screws. None the less, the thing still worked. Made it easier to take apart the next time! ;-)
thank you for the info. This was bugging me for so long.I was wondering what was going on with my laptop. Is there any way to prevent this from happening or at least delay it?
and jeez, isnt there another way to remove the dust from that area? :(
Thanks! that is exactly what is happening to my laptop... my boyfriend is fixing it. He is using your video as a guide... thanks! And yes a steadier cameraman would be good. LOL

Sorry about the camera work. I will do better next time. Perhaps a tripod?
I hope the video was useful to you and that your boyfriend got it back up and running!

@Soul2SoulTreasures Thanks! Yes, well, maybe I should have someone else besides the narrator do the camera work. LOL
Just hope people learn something. Can save them a buck or two.
