Dude, thumbs up. I heard this tune on a New York jazz station back in the late '90s and I've been in love with it ever since. Norman Brown really outdid himself with this euphoric song.
@MrAtlantajazz face it, I know that this song is good, but the genre is dying, and if we dont do something quickly it will be dead and buried for ever and ever, I know who said that it was dead! I went on a smooth jazz cruise in the carribean with Dave Koz, time of my life, never forget that, but sad to say that was a sinking ship : (
The Wes Mountgomery influence or should I said "style", is a style on it's own. As I said before, "Often imitated, never Dublicated". I beleave Mr. Mountgomery would have been honor to be in the company of two of his musical protochea, Mr. Brown and Mr. Benson. Follow your bliss. P.A.
You can't help but move to this. Lovely tribute to the late great Wes Mountgomery. Lovely music for a cold evening in front of a fire place with your love one. The musical genious of yours truly "Norman b Bad Brown. Thank you for your music. PA
I heard this song today on the XM radio channel Watercolors while I was riding in my car. This is a great song to listen to while driving on the highway with the windows down. They play a lot of smooth jazz songs on there, but I think this one is the best I've heard. I've got to get this CD! Thanks for posting this!
This was also my first Norman Brown CD. I still play it today almost 20 years later & it still sounds like it was just released. Incredible guitarist.
I met Norman in person in 2006 at the poppy festival in Lancaster, CA. you'll never find a nicer person as well as a heck of a guitarist. Remember me Norman! I told you "KEEP REACHING FOR THE STARS, MAN!!!"
i'm 25 and enjoy his music.when i tell folks much older than me i enjoy him and a lot of other smooth jazz artist i get looked at like i'm crazy but what can i say my folks raised me right and never this crazy stuff they play on the radio now.smh
That's what the Weather Channel should do is to make a CD called Local on the 8's which is filled with over 24 tracks of Smooth Jazz artist like these from the 9o's. Can someone make that possible ? ? That would be sweet ;] Rob [Atlantic City Nj]
Ya know what? At the end of any given day, when you think life is a bitch and really sucks at times, you listen to Norman doing this. Guess what: everything's great! Just makes ya feel GOOD.
Norman is phenomenal. However, it's a also a tribute to George Benson, whose genius for melodic interpretation can be quietly heard in the background.
Explosive licks and a slaming back beat, is what sets this one apart for me. This type of music is what i play to welcome in the 1st day of spring. Thanks Mr Norman Brown
This is fine stuff, I'm a huge Norman fan, his arrangements are so musical and unique, yet grounded in the tradition of the greats like Benson, and Wes.
If you have an opportunity please pass along my regards to Mr. Brown. Had a change to see him at the Long Beach jazz fest last September. This man is BADDDDD! Any idea on his next project / release??
His song is dedicated to my son "MELAKIM" when he was born I held him in my arms by the lake and I felt as though I left my body for a few y'all that was YAH.....This is for my young KING my Prince my son...Praise YAH... Shalom Brotha B!!

Love your sound man. Who said smooth jazz is dead? As long as we keep making "good smooth" it won't die.

@cartoonist1975 Great idea-one of the best smooth jazz songs they used to play on their "Local on the 8's" was "Maputo" by Bob James & David Sanborn.
