And the irony is "Better By You Better Than Me" (the song they supposedly listened to prior to the deed) was a cover song originally done by a non-Metal band called Spooky Tooth. Same here, I jumped on the JP wagon since SadW and Sin After Sin was brilliant also.

Stained Class forged the metal sound that was unique, no one else had it at the time. My 1st JP show, Oct. 79, I was 17 and they were at their prime prior to crowd pleaser, radio friendly tunes and MTV period, not my favorites. For me, early JP is defining metal at its purest and all I listen to of theirs.

This is one of the best, Priest tracks and actually the riff in the beginning. Rob Halford, is king of the Priest. It doesn't matter, whether he is gay or not, he can rock his ass off. I like the music but, I am actually a Kiss fan. I also like Judas Priest, Motley Crue, Twisted Sister, Metallica, Van Halen, Styx, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Deep Purple, Rainbow, it Varies though.

Stained Class was the album that brought me to Heavy Metal. I am so grateful to them.

However, as a live band in 1978 (Liverpool Empire) they were underwhelming.

They've improved and now I can turn my cans on full po' and hear them as they were meant to be - FULL F*****G PO!!!!

Priest hasnt done this since the late 70s but Halford did both Stained Class and Tyrant in 2000 and they did Never Satisfied from Rocka Rolla in 2002 and 2010. why hasnt Judas Priest done any of these since the 70s and 1983 for Tyrant?

Their families, probably attempting to make money off of the incident, attempted to sue Priest because they claimed that, in playing Better by you, Better than me backwards, you hear "do it", apparently meaning they killed themselves because of the song. Little did they know it was actually a cover...

The album has a lot of spiritual themes. See also Saints in Hell and Exciter. This one seems to reference the fall of humanity into sin. Rob was raised in a Christian home, and this seems to have influenced even his early lyrics. I think this album is brilliant.
