I thought it may interest you to know, that shark is one of the main components of fish sticks in the US. Those tasty little Van De Camp sticks of breaded meat that come so cheerfully frozen in your grocers frozen food isle, are actually made of a mixture of several fish, one of which is shark. This would explain the aftertaste. ;-P

So... the reason shark meat tastes so horrible, is because sharks don't urinate through normal means. They do it through their skin, much like how humans sweat, except that the ammonia concentration in their sweat/urine is much higher than ours. Shark meat has to be very well washed and sterilized if ever eaten... even then the taste may be dubious.  But good for you =)
