As different as this series was from the 80s He-Man, it does still tie itself in to the original series. They start out on Eternia and end up where ever this place was supposed to be, I forget. The Sorceress transfers Greyskull's power to a spaceship...I think...and then they fly it to this place. Or something. It's been a long time. My only point is they did make more than a token effort to tie it to the first series, no matter how oddly they did it.

There are THREE animated versions of He-Man - the early 80s original, this one (which I think was made in 1989), and the 2002 one.

At 30 I still have more or less the same reaction when I see this. I like overall look which seems to have a lot of anime influence, and the story changes didn't bother me so much really, but the "power of the good and the will of the magic" thing just sounds awkward, the transformation sequence into He-Man has no visual punch just like the 3-note keyboard music has no impact.

Well, the first He-Man was a very good production. Very original in terms of music/songs (classic) and photography (Very Psychedelic art). I think we won´t have this kind of art anymore, today cheap productions are preferred. We will never see original ones like Galaxy Rangers, He-Man(first-one), etc.
