I'm no expert but isn't adding air, "+" setting on the safc (3.06 in the video) actually reducing the fuel mixture and making it lean (Not adding fuel as said in the vid) and subtracting the airflow, "- " setting on the safc (3.35) is adding fuel to the mixture and making it rich (Not subtracting fuel as said in the vid)
@Marshmallowrex because with the amount of boost I was running (~7psi) there was no need for timing adjustment, yes it would have been nicer at the time, but I did not have 600+ dollars to spend on a AEM FI/C, or 2k for a standalone HYDRA system for the tiburon, there are very limited choices when it comes to tuning the Hyundai Tiburon. It did get the job done with no issues what so ever. street tuned it just enough to get it to the dyno.
how is your laptop connected to the car? OBD2 to USB ? I want that software! its really cool! But my wideband is the AEM UEGO which is independently with the ecu..
So i guess this will not work with the stocks ensors that my car has? i got an s2000 by the way
hey what u all got done to your tibby i just bought a stage 2 alpine supercharger and im getting the safc 2 to tune so thanks for the vid very helpfull
hey i have a 2004 hyundai tiburon gt 2.7 with a safc-ll to as well. i baught the car with it installed already and sometimes my exhaust will make a different tone and when it sounds like it should it drives perfect but when it makes a different tone sounding almost like a bogging sound or a truck exhaust but when it does this its a lot slower! i was just wonder if you could tell me if its because of the supper air flow converter
to bad I cant pull timing on safc =/ would be ideal,I'm trying to run around 11:3:1 - 11:5:1 afr at WOT with 10 psi on sr20det but my wideband doesnt datalog so I need to have a friend watch and tell me what RPM are running a little rich or lean and do from there,I really reall need to invest in some form of datalog I didnt relise how important it would be till tune day came.
Im planning on buying an SAFC 2 with instructions but but how do you connect it to your computer ? does the bran new one come with like ... something that connects to the computer?
hey i have to say thank you this really did help i just picked up a 91 eclipes and i really dont feel like paying someone else tune it...... Its more fun to do your self
Nephew bouht a Civic and we had to initialize the settings after they were changed to get the car to run. Do we need a computer to program it? Are ther any general settings for a 97 Civic?
@korndog517 Hey may I know what program you are using in the vid for A/F ratio. Ive got a wideband, but i need something which can read my RPM so I could get a RPM vs A/F ratio graph.
@lerlo Its a AIR Flow Controller A.F.C. S was because there is a model before this so they called this one Super. Its a piggy back controller that intercepts the air flow pulse re calibrates it to user input and fools the ECU in to thinking there is more or less air flow and adjusts fuelling accordingly.
You can not adjust timing or inj pulse cycles etc however it is good if say you want to smooth out a flat spot coursed by minor modification that are outside the stock ECU parameters
Was the ecu backing the fuel off when you added fuel. I'm thinking about buying one but i hear on some cars the factory ecu will negate any changes you make. When it reads it rich it trims the fuel.
nah its not hard, but then again, im not running bigger injectors or anything like that yet. if I was running bigger injectors to compensate it would be a little difficult but nothing to bad
hey let me ask you whats the in and out for the 350z?

when you "added" fuel it didnt really affect the a/f ratio but for a split second.

Hey, wow thanks for sharing man.
Can I ask afew questions?
I heard the SAFC cant really add fuel and it requires a FPR for that.
Also its only tunable for WOT situations.....
lerlo 2 years ago
well the adding fuel part is true, but no you can tune at any point, just that the PCM will compensate for what you have tuned in closed loop

a240zt 2 years ago
It will only negate the fuel when the car is in closed loop, if the car is in open loop is where this type of tuner helps (i.e. open loop = WOT)

Surely its a good idea to map that under load on a dyno, like a stand alone one?
It would be quite hard to do it on the road really.

nah its not hard, but then again, im not running bigger injectors or anything like that yet. if I was running bigger injectors to compensate it would be a little difficult but nothing to bad
korndog517 2 years ago
So you just try to keep the air fuel ratio at as near to about 12.3 isn't it?
laurieh 2 years ago
Well since Im N/A and not running boost i keep my AFR around 13.1~13.4. if i was boosted, i would be running around 12.5
