This and Apostrophe brings back memories, a former roommate & close friend sang the 'riffs' on the aforementioned & Overnite Sensation, as she was an Ikette at the time, so my friend Debbie Wilson along with Tina Turner & Linda Sims another Ikettes sang on both of these classic songs. Hollywood of yesterday (the music scene) we all knew one another (or the entertainment business), and help each other climb 'that' ladder. Great hearing this again.
The sound effect is what one is supposed to hear between sleep and awake... I think George Duke gets much cred for the synthesized orchestration and arrangement of keyboards on Zomby-Wolf.
@moltonfiya You can give duke credit for alot of things zappa did. Also, what dweezil was describing with the mysterioso sound was called a Timbre and zappa used them as themes thruout alot of his music ,not just this song.
@fadethetrade In music, timbre (pronounced /ˈtæmbər/, like the "tambour" of "tambourine", or spelling pronunciation /ˈtɪmbər/; French: [tɛ̃bʁ]) is the quality of a musical note or sound or tone that distinguishes different types of sound production, such as voices or musical instruments. The physical characteristics of sound that mediate the perception of timbre include spectrum and envelope. Timbre is also known in psychoacoustics as tone quality or tone color.
@muddack Ok now enlighten me on the "western octave" structure compared to the Easters or asian equivelent , where notes would sound "atonal" or "hard" on the ears of a simple man in america. or play me a song in 6/8 time,by the way, what is another name for 6/8 time, .I will mail you a box of dental floss if you will oblige me.
@yuppie5612 Why shouldn't they make money off it? Is it a charity?

I think that Mr. Zappa's original mix is better than the one available for sale now.
