When you join the Army, you complete a family care plan in case you are deployed. When you get pregnant as a single mother, you have the option to get out of service. If you don't take the option, its YOUR fault, you are NOT excused from your military duties! My mother and father (both retired Army and Marine Vets) were activated during Desert Storm within the same month. They both had to fufill their duties 4 months after I was born.

Females fearing deployment purposely get pregnant or sabotage their family care plans to avoid that deployment. I'm sorry to be the realist here - when a person joins the military they are obligated to perform their duties. Women who become single mothers have greatly impaired their ability to meet those obligations.
Women should be required to be on strict birth control (Norplant or the ring perhaps?) during their first 6 years in the service. 2nd enlistment (if they choose), once they have demonstrated they have met their obligations children should be allowed.

The main salient point - which was mentioned in the papers over here but seems to have got by these people - is that she was given a couple of months after her deployement notice to arrange child care. The army then CHANGED THE DEAL and ordered her to get on a plane after a few days instead, leaving her with no plan and no time to arrange one. What she's acutally been saying is that everything would have been fine if the army had just done what they'd said they were going to do all along.
I hope the army will see her extenuating circumstances and let her go with an honorable discharge. Often times, a mother MUST put her kids first. Wouldn't it be more dishonorable if she left the kid with no one to care for him?

The fact of the matter ,is that this happens all the time, I have personally seen it. During my seven years in the army. Females fearing deployment purposely get pregnant or sabotage their family care plans to avoid that deployment. Everyones always talking of equal rights until they are expected to do equal work then they want special treatment. I say court martial her. She deserves it.

I'm sorry to be the realist here - when a person joins the military they are obligated to perform their duties. Women who become single mothers have greatly impaired their ability to meet those obligations.
Women should be required to be on strict birth control (Norplant or the ring perhaps?) during their first 6 years in the service. 2nd enlistment (if they choose), once they have demonstrated they have met their obligations children should be allowed.

The main salient point - which was mentioned in the papers over here but seems to have got by these people - is that she was given a couple of months after her deployement notice to arrange child care. The army then CHANGED THE DEAL and ordered her to get on a plane after a few days instead, leaving her with no plan and no time to arrange one. What she's acutally been saying is that everything would have been fine if the army had just done what they'd said they were going to do all along.

my daughter didn't have a family plan either and they kicked her out. I supported her decision that the baby needed her more than the war in Afhganistan did and that she was to remain firm and just be discharged from the military. The tried to make her pick ANYBODY in order for her to be deployed. They told her to meet someone @ church, the store, etc. Babies need their mom. hear hear...dames may be capable..but its pretty twisted to expect them to be slain for the State Department...cuz....thats what the army IS....always has been....a place for the unemployed to be culled so the rich can get richer....society is sick when it expects its women to fight..the main reason they are there at all is cuz so many MEN are wising up and opting out.

The woman signed up for the US military. She needs to go where she is ordered. I sympathize with this young family, but as I said she needs to do as she is ordered.

Wow, your a dumbfuck. I am a wuss and I don't want to go to war, and THAT is why I am not planing an signing up in the armed forces.
What I am saying is given her situation, she shouldn't have signed up for a military career knowing that she would HAVE take orders, and some of which would be in the form of deployment.
And maybe she was going through a different time when she signed up, or just wasn't thinking that far ahead. Which is WHY I sympathize!

You having the common sense not to sign up for the war is commendable, congrats!! You're (not "your" as you wrote when you called ME a dumbfuck) lucky! There are some, who come from struggling families who are promised by over-zealous and quota-meeting recruiters at their high-schools, etc. that they can "be all they can be," etc. promised they will never go near the war, anything to sign you up.

yes.....and Cali has like 58% unemployment rate...(don't quote me on that).Yes you are right the recruiters will say anything.And her friend could not take the child and the Family Services claims the baby like a piece of property ,the child used as collateral or leverage! Like they own her and cast her child to the dirt . Look the job market sucks bad everywhere,the army has saturated most job sites with their promises for real work,with some loop holes attached...I could go on and on.

you don't know if she chose all this. Yes she chose to be in the army, but you don't know her life, you have no idea what may have prevented her from getting a family care plan. Maybe the guy she loved deserted her? maybe the condom broke? maybe she is a low income citizen who couldn't get a family plan. You don't know so don't assume shit. You are not omnipotent

No, the newscast did not publish her life story, but based on in this article we have no idea. Perhaps lack of forethought was the reason she had this child in the first place? I never said that she chose to have a child. I NEVER said that. My point is she is in the Army and in the arm you take your orders.

Look if you have such a strong moral position on this, then why are you compelled to shout (caps & explanation marks) and continue to argue with me?
All am I saying is it is regrettable that this woman is in the position that she is. I pity here, but when you sign up for the military you are no longer an individual. You're (happy now) part some something much bigger than that.
If your point is the army is in the wrong thats fine, but its wrong doing doesn't mean she is in the right.

I feel bad for her. Clearly things aren't going her way otherwise she wouldn't be in that position.
But its unfortunate (and hard reality) that she signed up for the US military and that means that you are going to have to take orders like that, and if you don't you have to handle what follows.
The Army might just drop the charge(s) because of public opinion.

They shouldn't let single parents in the army. These people sign over their children to people who can't take care of them. This is irresponsible parenting. What the hell do these parents think is gonna happen when they sign their contract with the army. That They're never gonna move and have a lot of free time? Too many cases like this.
