peter i missed yea and i use to watch yea when i was growning up as a kid and i heard they were suppose to bring back this past hockey season what happen
Charge more for the commercials and reintroduce Peter Puck between periods. I learned shitloads from that animated character, back in the day. I have fond memmories of CBC hockey. It's a shame that dollars mean more than the spirit of Canada"s youth.
Nice catch on that 1:40 moment....Must have been using the '83 Oilers for demonstration purposes (Even Fuhr had 50 goals that year, didn't he?) BTW, 2 line pass is legal now----This is from '74 I think it said....I was 4 that year. and I have to admit, loved watching every Bruins game with my Dad (good times)---but I loved the intermissions with good old Peter Puck (wasn't on all the time in my area, so it was cool when he was on), and Mini One-on-One matches,,,,,
Canadians spend all this time to animate a whole cartoon to make sure their kids will keep playing their national pastime?
Are you taking notes, Bud Selig?
But I LOVE MY HOCKEY! Granted my team's the Anaheim Ducks, and I've been a fan of theirs since Selanne came in 1996, but hey--7 playoff trips, 2 Finals appearances, 1 going 7 games in a heroic loss and 1 GOING ALL THE WAY FOR THE CUP!
In just 17 years! We're a GOOD expansion team (go back to the 'Peg, Phoenix, Bring Back the Jets!)
@obiwanobiwan13 QUACK QUACK QUACK!! Wasn't the 2007 Stanley Cup Final fun to watch? And how about Scott Niedermayer passing the Cup to his brother Rob? About bringing back the JETS: I agree. Their last game in the 'Peg was standing room only! Phoenix doesn't deserve NHL Hockey, Winnipeg DOES!!
These were great! They're also a look back in time: There's no such thing as a two-line offside any more. The rule was revised in 1976 (I think) to allow offensive players to accept a two-line pass if he was behind the red line before the puck crossed it.
...fell in love with hockey as a five year old watching Peter Puck with my Dad...back when my jersey went down to my ankles....still love the game..thanks Peter!
I remember this back when I was a little boy. Only reason I watched hockey night in canada. As I recall this usually aired during the second intermission. Some days I miss my childhood so much
These were made by H-B. Actually, I think prior to these airing on Hockey Night In Canada in the mid 70's, they had their first airings on CBS on Sunday afternoon hockey in the late 60's and early 70's, between periods. Hockey, of course, didn't last long on CBS and Peter Puck was never to be seen on American TV again.
Peter Puck was created by author, print journalist and former analyst/announcer for Hockey Night In Canada, Brian McFarlane. Peter Puck was also featured on NHL broadcasts for NBC-TV in the United States. His father, Leslie McFarlane, wrote several early editions of the 'Hardy Boy Mysteries'.
Peter Puck was sooooo cool ! It was so much fun growing up with cool shit like this. I just miss the simplicity of the NHL and the humble honesty of the game back then.
One has to wonder if there were other sports related cartoons in the works, such as "Billy Baseball", "Frankie Football", "Carla Curling Stone", or maybe even "Johnny Jockstrap".
