@BrenTheGorgeous and also just because a singer hits a G5 doesn't mean their not a contralto, I'm a deep contralto and I can belt all the way up to Bb5, and regularly belt A5's. Being a contralto doesn't hinder ones range at all, any woman or man for that fact can hit that note if they have the ability.
@BrenTheGorgeous that's not her NATURAL voice if you listen to her songs pre-Jive you will hear a contralto not a soprano, she falsely sings with a timbre of a soprano but she isn't a soprano naturally. And if she wear a soprano her upper chest register and head voice would be way more developed and way more controlled and it would be almost impossible for her to hit a G2. She isn't nor has she ever naturally been a soprano.
@primohomme her natural singing voice is very deep, the voice she uses is NOT her natural voice, and though she may sing using the timbre and in the tessitura of a soprano, it's obvious that where her comfort zone is in her lower to mid registers which she uses with considerable ease and her voice before Jive, was very deep and rich. Based on all of these qualities she is naturally a contralto.
@ladysasha90 o_0 She sings mostly using falsetto and her upper register and her voice is light and girly, that screams soprano. I am sorry but she is no contralto.
@rihannafam your wrong on so many accounts. 1.) Britney's lowest sung live note is a B2, her highest live belted note is a F#5, and her highest sung live falsetto note is a C#6 live. So that's 3.3 OCTAVES right their. 2.) The only exclamations were the A5. 3.) It's funny that you talk about live singing becuz your fave's range is smaller then Britney's, she sings live and she's quite bad at it and she never sings the original belted note in the right key so let's not thrown stones
By what I hear she uses proper vocal technique, too bad she's so underrated as a singer. I don't like her, I'd rather listen to other genres but it doesn't mean I can't analyse her voice. I wasn't expecting anything like that from her: effortless belted notes, controlled head voice notes and beautiful falsettos. If she's a lyric soprano how can she hit a g2 without vocal fry? And why some think she's an alto? An algelical crystal voice. She's a lyric soprano, at least for my ears.
@MattyTheDark I'm sorry but there is nothing even remotely about Britney's voice that says lyric soprano, she may sing in the tessitura of a lyric soprano and the timbre might come off as one, but she is most definitely a contralto and you can her that in the comfort and ease that she has in her lower register and her tone pre-Max Martin. And not only that but a lyric soprano could never sing a B2 with so much ease the way Britney can.
@ladysasha90 When I used to listen to her I always remembered her lyric soprano voice, always delicate, like a crystal, and now you say she's an alto - interesting. She must be a great singer to sing in the soprano range throughout so many years without damaging her voice. When Miley Cyrus and Carly Smithson speak they speak like altos because they are, but Britney speaks like a soprano (?). I know altos can hit up to some baritone's low notes, but sopranos likely never.
@ladysasha90 I ever read a comment by a classical singer where she said Britney is a lyric soprano and explained why she thinks so. There's no way for me to think she's an alto listening to her songs after Max Martin but hearing her before him, and before getting famous, I can think she's a sort of an alto, not like Carly Smithson, for example, but there's something that makes me think she is (or was, don't now) at least a mezzo-soprano, likely an alto.
@ladysasha90 And don't feel sorry, you are helping me with another interesting thing in singing. I remembered when I thought I was a baritone before realizing I'm a tenor. God bless you.
@BrenTheGorgeous She is naturally a contralto based on the simple fact that her lower register is where she sounds best, and her natural singing voice is very very very deep.
more than three octaves? after all, she has less than 2! and actually a little more than one: p She could not have ever sing this live! And her voice is processed in the studio! Falsetto and it is nothing but a short squeaks! (exclamation) if it mattered to the vocal range that Christina Aguilera would be more than 5 octaves! but without that has 4 <3
@TheTomimomi455 Make sure to include her "Eb5" in Titanium by David Guetta feat. her! :) On youtube there aren't any videos of it on the right pitch, so if you want I can send you a link to a download website where you can get the song on the right pitch for free :)
Nice video! I think that she isn't a good vocalist but I love her songs so much!!!!! Her low notes are the best part of her voice, so effortless!! I think that the vocal fry can be counted in the vocal range, for example the Bb2 of Miley Cyrus in Liberty Walk is in vocal fry but she was singing because she goes from Bb3 to Bb2! I'm gonna make vocal range videos for each of Miley's albums, the first will come out today and it will be fantastic!!! Stay tuned! =D
@toni7777ful And how are low notes edited when the only one was "Piece of Me", like really? You actually go from Britney video to Britney video to talk about how her lower register is edited, o_O like WTF I could see if you said her upper register but really her lower. Britney Spears is NATURALLY A CONTRALTO low notes are like breathing to her.
@ladysasha90 I don't want to put Britney Spears down as you may think or try to show if she a bad singer. Nothing of that kind. And those who react on my comments negatively and write me rude things are ignorants. I want to really find who she is. I asked several prof.vocal coaches. They told she's soprano. In Russia she's considered so. I don't really know. To believe she's contralto I need to hear her live low notes. But her lows really seam edited to me.Maybу because of effects.
Love her! She was a really good vocalist in her prime, it's shame her potential was more or less wasted... But she's a legendary performer regardless. I love her low notes so much. Great video :)
@XgiugioX1 There are only a couples of notes with autotune out of an eight and half minute video, and I don't now if you know this or not, but autotune doesn't create the note it only adds an effect to so your comment holds no validty in concerns to this video.
Anyway, I think she had to pay more attention to improve her vocals in the beginning of the carreer, so now she could be better. I think there are million of better singers than her, but I really think she's a regular singer.
:O Are you sure her vocie is this big? If it's real, I mean, if her voice is not over-produced in studio, I'll give her some points because of her huge voice!
@EDDsp2009 Yes, think that she is very underrated as vocalist. I want to hear her voice on some normal music again (aka "Baby One More Time" times) not only on auto-tune songs without any meaning! I hope that she'll make album like BOMT again! :)
I love her lower registry, it's the best part of her voice IMO. Especially C3, C#3, D3, Eb3, and E3 notes. Her B4, C5, C#5, and D5 are her best chest notes. Her voice is cute!
@kellyclarksonismygd Understandable, but if you already feel a certain individual about the individual with whom the video is about why put yourself through 8 and a half minutes listening to an individuals voice who you don't care for, it's not like the video is going to change your mind so what would be the point. I'm not trynna attack you or anything but I would just like to know what's the real reasoning behind your comment, it baffles me.
@mAnNyEILaTiNo33 r u drunk :D? legendary ? mediocore ? i dont know how she managed to make her backup singers sound like her she cant sing at all her songs are maybe good and stuff but vocallly she is NOTHING litterally NOTHING !
@QualityVOICES She's a legendary ARTIST. & Yes she's a mediocre singer. Meaning average. Not amazing. So you might've wanted to try re-reading that & digesting what it said before you spat words at me. Thanks bye.
@TheTomimomi455 I meant the second E5 btw haha. I don't know about that, there's no way to prove it. And yeah, I did a britney vido but I'm not a fan of her music. Sorry :/
One of the greatest artists of ALL TIME. She really is legendary. Vocally she's mediocre. I like her low notes. I also love her C5 at 4:20, and the C#5 at 5:15. Her falsetto notes are pretty. Great video!
Britney is amazing!!!

Range =/= voice type
She is not a contralto because real contraltos have a manly low chest voice
Take for example Annie Lennox and Cher

@MattyTheDark And p.s. she didn't use vocal fry for the G2 just the G#2's.
