  • hi mbartolomei i'm going to convert my dano to sitar like yours can it be played in normal concert pitch tuning or is this thing played in open E or D ?whats yours tuned to? thanks ed

  • thanks for the answer! I finally managed to adjust it! cool! :-)

  • @PATRICEBUI Updating: One thing that enhanced a bit the strings tension over the bridge, resulting in a better performance, was to wrap the strings from the front of the tailpiece bar and passing them under the bar in the right direction.

  • @mbartolomei thanks! i will try this!

  • hi, i understand that you need a tailpiece in addition to the gotoh buzz bridge. where did you find a tailpiece for your danelectro. thanks!

  • @danesemike1 I just bought a very cheap one, made for hollowbodies or archtops, I don't know really! Ebay may be an option I suppose, Allparts, GFS, etc.

  • thanks for the answer! i will try to set it up right!

  • hello! I got a problem trying to mod my 56 danelectro. I bought the all parts sitar bridge and a all parts tail.

    its totally not in tune!

it's not usuable at all, just maybe around the 5 first frets......

I just reallised it cannot be in tune as this new bridge totally changes the diapason of the guitar!

  • @PATRICEBUI You paid a lot of money for it in allparts, I bought mine on Ebay for almost half the price... but regarding the problem you are getting with it: it's a matter of fine setting it, you must deal with the heights of the 3 screws until it sounds right and tunes right. It's not that easy to find the right spot, but at the end you will get the sound and will stay in tune!

  • @PATRICEBUI The Gotoh bridge is adjustable and intonates. Adjust the tilt of the bridge. Yours need to come up in the front (the neck side). Use the three screws to adjust the height and then tilt the bridge for your intonation and amount of "buzz".

  • hi, I have a copy Dano U1 spare, if I put the sitar bridge on it will only having 1 pickup limit the sound compared to the 2 pickup model - do you play with variation n pickups switched on to gt the full sound? Thanks!

  • @southdowner97 I see no problem using your Dano with only one pup converted to a electric sitar with the Buzz Bridge. But in this demo I used both pups combined, as it has a fuller souind for my taste. Good luck!!!

  • Cool thanks.

  • Excellent! Sounds great - gotta get one! Cheers from Funky England, JC

  • i have some danelectro rip off with the sitar bridge and boy its amazing. aside from the fact that the intonation sucks balls its perfect. its an authentic sitar sound and its awesome

  • @variaxguitar

The Variax line of guitars is a fine piece of art and technology, I tested several ones and found them amazing good as flexible tools. But to be honest, nothing substitutes the real thing. Nothing, until now...

  • @ovneb

    .010 standard roundwound strings

  • @mbartolomei Sorry to bother you, but I have one more question. When you installed the tailpiece, was it as simple as screwing it into the body?

I'm just making sure because I've heard of people gluing blocks of wood inside the guitar before installing bigsbys and other special bridges/stoptails.

    Thanks again

  • @ovneb

No problem, it´s a pleasure to help with this matter. But no, I didn't need to drill anyting for the tailpiece or the bridge, the tailpiece is just supported by the strap button at the guitar body side, But the dano original strap button must be substitued for a regular one, what I find a very easy job and a better choice for using the guitar with a strap.

  • @mbartolomei Awesome. Thanks again for the help. I'm converting a Dano DC3. Hopefully it turns out as good as yours.

  • What kind of stoptail are you using? Very simple, yet classy looking.

  • @ovneb

The cheapest I found, no brand on it...

  • @mbartolomei Nice. Did you have any trouble drilling the holes into the body or was it pretty simple?

  • @ovneb

No drilling was necessary, as it's a direct replacement for the Dano standard bridge. But i needed to replace the the strap holder in order to accomodate the tailpiece.

  • Very nice!

  • @Effectology

Thanx, it's a rather efficient piece of hardware!

It's a honour to receive your visit!

  • Well...I screwed it in...

It's not buzzing right...One thing I noticed is, it looks like you put the springs under where the screws go...I thought the springs when in those holes on the other side of the bridge? I think the problem right now is the back part of the bridge isn't high enough so the strings arent getting enough room to buzz in...yup, this is going to take some time ^_^

  • @slctdmbntwrx

The springs go between guitar top and underside of the bridge to offer resistance to the string tension over the bridge and leting you do the correct seting up.

But are you using the tailpiece on the end of strings? I think the Gotoh Buzz Bridge can't hold the strings alone. A tailpiece is required.

Did you see that on my Dano pics on the video? The buzzing/right entonation is just a matter of adjusting among the three screws.

  • Yes I have the same tail piece as you.

The problem I have right now is I need the back of the sitar bridge to go up, and when I unscrew that back screw, it really doesnt move up at all, almost like there should be a spring there too, I only have two springs at the front of the bridge...oh well I'll figure it out eventually.

  • @slctdmbntwrx

It comes with three springs, one for each screw... so I think you need to get one more to adjust it properly.!

  • Yeah I got 10's but ran into a big problem last night, the holes don't match up with my original dano bridge, it's weird...it's the three hole bridge with the wood peice, thought that was the one? looks like I gotta bust out the black and decker.

  • @slctdmbntwrx

Ow, my... that's realy strange because the GOTOH did fit very well in mine...

  • Mine just arrived today!! Any string suggestions!?!? Hurry!!! Someone told me 52-10's work but I was thinking thinner might be better for a more authentic sounding bend?

  • @slctdmbntwrx

I just use .010 strings, I used standard tuning, but most of time droping the E botton string to D for dronning, as featured in this vid. I didn't test it with lighter strings as I think it's realy good for sound and playability.

Anyway try to put the bridge as lower as you can and adjust the balance among the three screws to optimize buzzing and entonation! It works great anyawy.

    Good luck!!!
