    Sir

    HI

  • Hi Blake -it's a great cover of a great song by a great musician [love John Hartford-God rest him ]Keep It coming Blake -Great stuff. Thanks For Posting Mate' Tom [in England]

  • Excellent cover of a womderful song.

  • Nicely picked,, great sounding banjo..Well done :)

  • Nice. As soon as I saw you were holding a Stelling, I thought, "This'll be good. Stellings are great banjos. They are bright and clear. What they lack in 'growl' will be an advantage in this song." And that's what it is. Good playing and singing. Super!

  • just brill.

  • SUPER!!!!!!

  • great!!!!!!!beautyfull version!!!!

  • Blake - I've loved this song for years ... even put together a disc with more than 20 different versions. This is as good as just about anything I've got. And I agree about the banjo - excellent performance.

  • Well Done !!

  • just beautiful

  • Really well played and you've got tremendous voice too.

    Thankyou

  • A true musician! You look like you're putting your heart and soul into this beautiful cover. Keep on pluckin' brother.

  • There are many covers on this version done completely different and nicely, though. Dean Martin, Paul Anka, ... but I still think (or guess) that the banjo is essential to carry the contents of the lyrics emotionally. This is certainly the best "private" cover on youtube.

  • Thank You very much for the kind words!

  • Nice job. Yours is the best cover of this song on the whole of Youtube.

  • Thank You very much for the kind words!

  • I liked your performance and your execution of the banjo, that was a nice arrangement.

May I ask where I can find your banjo arrangement in tab ?

    Thanks

  • Well Done, nice version of this song.

  • Great job on a great song!

  • What tuning is he using? Ive heard John Hartford play it in G, C and D tuning??

  • Im playing this in a C position capoed' out of A...... I think in johns later years he played in a standard g tuning but tuned way way down to a low E..... Therefore he also used a considerably thicker guage set of strings.... John was a rare bird Im sure he could have played that song in X flat if he took a notion....... Thanx for watching...

  • Gotcha, thanks. Watching this really helped me figure out how to play it. GOMM is my favorite song of all times I guess. Have you ever tried to figure out Nola. I heard Larry McNeely play it and it is a great song to learn. I have the tab on it but it is a doosey to learn. Keep up the good work. Frank

  • Very good, Blake! One of my favorite songs. Thank you.

  • Goodness, Ive gotten fat since then....

  • Big musician, I like very much.

    maurice

  • I remember you playing like this for band in, seventh grade? I think. You had everybody in awe.

  • Remember when I used to bring my guitar in the third grade and jam along to eric clapton audio tapes..... I remember being laughed at alot in Middle school for playing the banjo.... Im sure I was an outcast!!! Now I cry from social rejection.... All the way to the bank.......

  • I'm sure you don't! No one laughed at you. I remember square dancing in 3rd grade! Oh Gosh! I can't believe we did that. Had a show and everything. I love eric clapton by the way
