Police responded excellently during the Olympics. They kept order without any undue violence. I even saw a police officer get spit on and stay calm and collected, let's see you all do that. Overall, very professional conduct all around.

This represents nearly 4 billion of the 7billion....oh wait actually it less than 7 billion. Yes the Olympic village costs 1.2 billion and unless we see a drop in real estate prices (unlikely), this cost will be recouped. I was at the riots of Seattle, Quebec city both times and several other places. These reprobates were there and stood for nothing. There's much more to human life than property. I'm not a big fan of their tactics, but I don't care about the window. HBC has a pretty awful history, and 1,000 dollars is nothing to a company worth billions.
I'm sure you care more about that window than you do about the 5 Afghan children that were killed yesterday by NATO, and that's really sad.

The majority of these large corporations have accumulated their wealth through the exploitation of workers. In many ways they stole their property. I'm not going to feel bad for these corporations. I would feel bad if the protesters were destroying some guy's pretzel cart, or some mom and pop pizzeria.
I'm not a big fan of their tactics, but the attacks aren't random. They aren't smashing every window in sight.

Do the workers at HBC suffer from the company loss and property damage or does The CEO? Who are you hurting if your grandmother shops at HBC and the prices are raised to pay for the window you just broke? Are those actually protesters or plants?

All crime isn't immoral. At one point it was legal for human beings to own other human beings; it was illegal for women to vote. Civil rights protesters were breaking the law during sit-ins. I'm not comparing these protesters to civil rights activists, I'm just saying it's wrong to look at laws as divine entities.
1,000 dollars is nothing to HBC, but I wouldn't care if they lost all of their money. I care about the people they exploit, like all of the sweatshop workers they have used.

If you do unto others as you would want done to you, you will find yourself doing no harm. Not breaking windows, not jacking people, not ripping off employees, not paying slave wages, none of it. The spirit within you Allende seeks righteousness and justice, the spirit of HBC is shareholder and profit, do not lower your values to the level of HBC. Make a difference, not damage.

I never said that, iarewtf. I was referring to how a window being smashed during the Olympics sparks more outrage than the slaughter of 12 Aghan civlians on the same day.
Many of the people who curse the vandalism as grotesque violence will wrap themselves in the flag and get all teary-eyed when their country prepares to go off to war. Breaking a window is a depraved act of violence, but wars that slaughter thousands of innocent people are different, you see.
