It's amazing that people think he won because of his race; and yes, that IS racist reasoning. Do you realize how low the popularity of the Republican party has sunk even without factoring in Democratic candidates for the presidency? Probably the single biggest factor was the general public's reluctance to elect another Republican.
Also, most elections are popularity contests more than anything else, and Obama is a million times more charismatic than McCain ever was.
