  • Extremely difficult to sing this song is exquisitely sung by Lataji. The credit goes to the music director as well. The language whether Hindi or Urdu is unimportant.

  • We can ALL argue about which actress in Indian cinema is the most beautiful etc etc etc but one thing can never be argued upon who was and remains the all time most handsome actor of Indian cinema = Dharamendra!

  • @BabiAusten Yes, Dharam is non-pareil.

  • Lata is the kohinoor of indian cinema..If not for Lata, kishore ,RD ,..bollywood by now wud have been another victim of hollywood..

  • dude ..there are times when u love to calmly listen these oldies ..ow...rock and jazz is always fun

  • Well people still listen to these old songs. But you will probably not hear this Kurbaan hua song after a year or two!!!! So which one is better? You will also get old and boring. No one is going to get younger. It is a one way road.

  • Dharmendra and Mala Sinha. Film is Anpadh, Music is by Madan Mohan.

  • My favorite and lovely dialogues and the best sweet voice, Lata GOD BLESS U. LIVE THOUSANDS of Years in INDIA and alive and ACTIVE.

  • I believe the lyrics are by Raja Mehdi Ali Khan.

  • I never care for the cotents of the lyric but the music--Latha is Latha among men Rafi Madanmohans handling is superb

  • aaap ke nazrooon nay samjaaaaa woww amaizing poetryyyyy.....!!!!!and also much great voice...

  • I have been longing for this song for quite some time. How lucky i am now/ I have got it.

  • very niceee songs thanks................

  • there are various theories about how Lata didi had been at the top for so long...but just to give her the credit she deserves, very few people can sing so well at the age of 80 yrs.

  • I will also give a lot of credit to the person who has written the song so romantically.

  • Nice song............

  • very goodddddddddddddddddddd

  • song of universe

  • awesome song my all time favourite...just love it

  • All said and done, it was Mala Sinha who brought the song to life on the screen, If Lata sang this song so well, it was Mala who emoted those feelings so well. One of India's greatest actresses, who never received any recognition for her great contributions to an art she loved so much. She was not there to pass time, but gave every role everything she had!

  • nice skirmish of asianhawk and zorajabeen trying to prove who is/was the best. in my opinion both of your are right/wrong. singers like pankhaj malick, kl saigal, khurshid, jag mohan, ch atma, jothika roy, parol gosh, kamla jhargia, tghe great singer begum akhtar(akhtaribai faizabad), zohra/amir bai mukesh rafi lafi, all are/were great singers and cannot be superceded to each other. sorry i like only few movie songs of noor jahan eg anmol ghadi, mirza saheban, bari man etc and mehdihasn non

  • Hi friends,

i went through the comments by my friends about different singers.

what i think, each one has its own place and they tried their best to prove that.

But as u see every one has own choice, like one person likes a color and other likes other color. But some things look great in a particular color. So some songs sung good by one and other good by other singer.

But we must feel blessed to have such great singers in our subcontinent.

  • JUST GREAT

  • Lata is the best singer in the world period! She was never challenged as the numero uno.

Rafi was displaced from the top by Kishore in 1969 and remained second to KK till his death.

But Lata was supreme. She is the best, next come KK, Asha, Rafi, Mukesh.

  • That's because Lata never let anyone come up. There were far more versatile singers than her, but she made sure she dominated the times. Lata may have the voice (perhaps in her younger days, not anymore), but she never had the variation and abilities like Asha.

  • And then you woke up from your dreams. Lata sang really well when she was younger and then the years passed and cows in the street sounded less cacaphonous.

Asha had variation but was never given the main roles to sing.

And Rafi is universally brilliant. I can't believe you put Lata on top of your fake pedestal and compared her to Rafi.

  • What you are spouting is your opinion on Lata. It was Lata who was universally brilliant, and she was never displaced from her numero uno position.

OTOH Rafi was swept away by Kishore Kumar. Because Rafi was not suited for manly songs cos of his feminine voice.

  • Because she never allowed anyone else to come up. This is the exact reason why you are exalting someone who was so adamant in maintaining her position but didn't do so through incredible singing, variations and whatnot.

This is the exact reason why I want to dig through and find the unknown artists who sang so beautifully but were never able to carve a path or share the top pedestal with your vaunted Lata.

  • The reason why Lata maintained her position was because she was better than others. If music directors had found someone better they would have used her. No one was stopping them. OP Nayyar never recorded a song with Lata but that did not diminish either Lata or OPN.

Asha herself has said Lata was the best.

Whatever the personal opinion, the fact is Lata was never displaced from the top. While Rafi was totally dethroned by KK.

  • You are perfectly right about OPN and Lataji but I don't agree that Rafi was dethroned by KK...They both are Legend...can't compare...Rafi maintained his position even after KK came..n Rafi was at top when KK came but still KK made his own fame...Again, comes personal opinion whom you like more

  • Gr8 song thanks for posting.

  • such a beautiful song

  • Rafi & Lata have left a vacuum that is going to be too hard to fill. On top of that there was this guy Madan Mohan - in the most highest class of his own. This song is a monument in itself.

  • very well said!

  • india is so fortunate to have a legend like lata ji she is the best singer ever no other singers comes close to her.

  • best in females only, the best singer of the subcontinent is M Rafi sahab and hes probably among the best in the world!

  • I agree to an extent, Rafi had the best voice, but there are some singers tht may be a close rival if not better, legends like mukesh, kishore, but no one comes close to Lata she is indeed the one and only, She even surpasses her teacher who if im not wrong was maalika nooor jehan of pakistan who was another great legend

  • no way bro, Rafi saab was wayyy wayy ahead of those u mention, both kk and mukesh had one type of voice and no versaility, for example can u even imagine mukesh singing the fast paced songd Rafi saab sang or the qawalis, and can u imagine wht a botched up job kk wudve done of 'o duniya ke rakhwaley' and madhuban mein radhika nache' etc

as for lata many many times suman kulyanpur has been mistaken for lata and imho shes same as lata , if not better

lata has much more competition than Rafi sahab.

  • cont..

As for noor jehan, she was a legend and lata regarded her as her teacher, students are seldom better than the ustaad, but then thts my humble opinion.

saying all tht , i do think lata is the top of her female counterparts but stil behind Rafi sahab and she has plainly admitted tht.

Do remember Rafi saabs versons of all songs they both sang (seperatly) were much more popular and in som cases ppl didnt even know there was a lata version. i think tht says it all, dnt u think?

  • like I said Rafi had a fantastic voice which can never be replaced, the one thing that rafi had over his rivals, was that he was versatile he could fit in any era, genre, class. But when it came to sad songs I think Mukesh was awesome, lol he sounded sad even in happy songs, dont get me wrong the way rafi sang for the film Baiju Bawra was just vintage, and i agree with u bro he was the best.

  • But when it comes to lata?? then she is the best, if rafi was the cake then lata was the cherry on top of the cake, songs from films like like Ahh,AAwara, chori chori, shre 420, etc. But please dont compare suman K to the great nightingale that is an insult big time, oh by the way the raag madhuban mein radhika nache' i agree only rafi could have sunh that to perfection, Have u heard rafis intro in ramayvatsavi in shree 420 simply awesome and also in the old film dosti?

  • thnku for ur comments and i think i may hav to agree to disagree wen it comes to lata..lolz!!

anyway yep iv heard the song from 420 n Rafi sahab owned tht song!

again thnks for the discussion, jus one thing, im a sis not a bro..lolzz!!

  • Lolzz sorry Sis, i hvae just really paid attention to ur name, lol, any way nice discussion, and just because im a Lata fan it does not mean that I have undermined Rafi, like i said he is awesome, take care sis

  • LOLZZ!! no probs bro, u take care too!

  • can sum1 translate the song

    it would be really nice

    Urdu itself music,melody

    Urdu itself poetry,culture,hisotry,civilization,

URDU got superiority over other langauge like Rose over other flowers.

another name of URDU is also TAJMAHAL.

Urdu is like OASIS in desert of langauges.

Urdu is like magic, producing joy& tears

    Urdu is like perfume

Urdu ganga mayyiaya ki bhi maa hay.

  • @poissondelamer @poissondelamer Idiot, go and tell your persian fathers that this is Urdu which comes from Farsi and see if they understand a word of this song, Jackass!! You Pakistanis are all brainwashed by the Taliban, that is your problem, 17% literacy rate in Pakistan, now go and educate your masses, dont be jealous of the Hindus, fooL!

  • @tolykozin abey chutya idiot, its pure Urdu langauge song.who the fucking shit to name it as hindi, hindi is not langauge of music and melody

what remains in lata and mukesh without Urdu? patah howa baans.

  • @poissondelamer abey oonth ke bache, I can spot 80% shabd (words ) in hindi, which actually give defination to the song, urdu is used as connecting words only.

  • @TheYTListener abey randi ke bachay(son of bitch) its pure Urdu song.not hindi.

hindi of today takes 95% words from Urdu.

matcherchood get this song translate in hindi and see the result.

  • @poissondelamer Maa ke lund pagal hai kya, ghasti ki aulad. hindi takes words from sanskrit, all languages of modern world (this exclude arabic world) have been derived from sanskrit for eg. german, french ..

madarchod ke pille maine suna hai abottabad mein teri maa laden ka lund choose rahi thi. Bahen ke lund hypocrite ek toh bollywood gana sunta upar se complain kar raha hai.
