Dan Albarn is a very talented musician. His knowledge of song writing and chord progressions supercedes most other 90s musicians. I remember I heard the song "Ernold Sane" for the first time when I was 19, and being a musician myself, was amazed at the song, which is slightly out of harmony (deliberately) yet still sticks together. I forget which classical composer used to do the same thing with his music. The name will come to me one day.
