  • are they any old churches left or did they all get destoyed?

  • I had eyegasm ಥ⌣ಥ

  • For a split second the stairs @ 0:29 reminded me of the stairs leading to the 'Place du Tertre' in Paris. Don't ask me why, 'cause here there is no noice, no millions of tourists you have to crawl over and best of all : No 'Sacre Coeur' ......I sooooo want to go to Japan!!!

  • how do they keep people from stealing their stuff?

  • Ohh I am sooo moving in!

  • Very beautiful footage! *_*

I half-expected you to bump into softypapa in the video, then I see he already commented here. Haha.

Do you know what type of bird that was calling in the background? It sounded like some type of thrush. (Sorry about the entirely random question, but I didn't know if Japan had that type of bird [or something similar], and if you happened to know it would be considerably easier than an hour of google search. lol)

  • @weya

It was Softy hiding in the bush imitating a bird ^-^

Sorry.. don't know that one ^_^

  • Thanks alot for another grea vid! Calming to watch it let alone beign there heh

  • Such a beautiful place. So quiet and peaceful amidst the trees. The river looks like a fun place to play during summer. ~Kurt :-)

  • @softypapa

I knew you would like it!

You would have liked climbing the mountain behind it with us too!

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom It's interesting to read your words as I just came home from a tough (yet wonderful) hike (climb really) up to a mountain hermit retreat turned Buddhist temple. As I walked the grounds and took in the abandoned priest's home I was thinking of your video. And just as you described I found a trail at the back of the temple which wound up to the summit of a small mountain. You and I seem to be enjoying some synchronicity this Golden Week. Have a great one my friend! ~Kurt :-)

  • Gotta love Buddha, the tried and true philosophy of sitting around, getting fat, and trying to force all thoughts from your consciousness.

  • @ryderawr It's not that simple :P. Most of the time people contemplate while working. I've seen a footage about Buddhist temple once, there was this chubby (not fat though) European dude. After the first day in the temple, he nearly dropped dead on the floor. In Asia religion is not a way of being lazy.

  • so beautiful ^^ I envy you.

How much time did you learned speaking and understanding japanese?

  • I'm Christian and I treat Buddhism as a philosophy. Budda has never said something about non-existence of God. So, in my opinion, you can be also Buddhist and Christian, or a follower of Confucianism.

  • @jpzhmus Yeah you can be. Buddha never intended Buddhism to become a religion, but more as a philosophy. And a great one at that :)

  • I went before a buddhist temple and saw a buddhist and my little cuzin say hi and we go and eat for lunch and it was cool! me and my little cuzin prayed and my little cuzin mom take us picture hehe and it was nice.

  • I love how peaceful it is there ^^

You can tell just from the video. I really hope to go to a Temple or Shrine one day.

Arigato gozaimasu for the wonderful video!!

  • @8191921 - i know...i hear japanese architects are some of the best in the world...i read recently that 2 japanese architects won the prestigious pritzker architectural prize this year.

  • So beautiful! I don't know much about Buddhism, one of my housemates at uni was from Sri Lanka and she was a Buddhist. Are the practices of Buddhism in Japan the same as Sri Lanka? Apologies for the ignorance, just really interested

  • @aoiskies- they are slightly different. Buddhism is divided into sects much like the sunni, shia, protestant, catholic sects...Sri Lankans fall under the Theravada branch of buddhism while zen buddhism(japan) falls under Mahayana. but it doesn't matter..a buddhist is a buddhist and every december and early january, thousands of buddhists from around the world congregate at Bodhgaya, india where buddha gained enlightenment.

  • @aoiskies- i was born into a buddhist family and even though i identify as a buddhist when people ask me what religion i am...the truth is i'm not a practising buddhist..but yea..i learnt all that in school growing up. not at home.lol.

  • Why can't everywhere be this beautiful?

  • Just beautiful =D

  • It's just beatiful =D

  • Really calm and relaxing mood around/inside that temple ^^ With the trees and everything really makes it a beautiful place =)

  • What is the name of that Bamboo stick that fills with water from a fontain and then drops the water out hiting a stone making a peacefull sound? I would love to do a japanese garden on my house.. just to remember this beatifull land called japan..

  • Wow, seems so peaceful!

  • This video is a bit slow xD

  • Wow! magnificant!! wanna go for sightseeing myself.

  • Great video again!

  • Great video again!

I was wondering, in these types of places in Japan, are you free to film and take photos? do they ask for a fee or donation if you visit them?

  • I saw some beautiful temples in the mountains when I was in Japan in Feb.

  • Beautiful. I love places so quiet and calm. Reminds me of home in that aspect. I hope to see something like this in my life.

  • Nice as always keep it up Thumbs up/5 STARS.

  • This place is very beautiful.

  • Very beautiful place, thanks for showing it to us.

  • That's a Beautiful Temple. We have a Temple built by Japanese craftmen nearby in England, which i visit often.

    Awesome places 8)

  • When was this temple built?

  • it all looks no nice and peaceful... damn please have a visit japan giveaway! :P

  • awesome temple and footage, but the camcorders mechanisms is very noisy

  • i wish youtube wiuld put stuff like this on front page instead of boring people talking to webcams either saying how great their life is or complaining about anything they disagree with

  • Thank you one more time :)

  • Wow What a fantastic temple! <3

  • Thank you for showing this. It's definitely someplace most people would otherwise never get to see.

  • So is it okay to walk into a temple anytime or do you need permission. The reason I ask is cuz when you were filming it looked like no one else was around.

  • awsome vids as usual, keep it up. buddhist temples are so peaceful. how is praying done in japan? do you guys you incense? the alter set-up is different than i'm used to so just wondering how it works.

  • Wow. Looks really nice there. I like places like that but I always feel like i shouldn't be there or don't belong there. So it's nice to see it from your vids. Thanks.

  • Whose playing old games on a phone in the background? :D

  • that would be awsome just to go there and get away from it all.

  • man you never made a video about red light disrict, I guess you can't do it now haha anyway you should grow your beard lol

  • That must be a zen temple with the meditation zebuton cushions where you face the wall to meditate. You should take a class there.

  • @Limastudent

    Thanks for the advice..

but I am a Buddhist and I practice kyudo which is a form of zen meditation.. so I get at least 6 hours of zen meditation a week.

  • beautiful, hermoso.

  • hey i would like to thank you for putting up all the vids about japan this gives me a lot of information every time i see one of your videos.

  • just gorgeous

  • thats alwsome

  • Those stairs look killer...

but cool vid ^^ I'd love to actually go to one someday

  • how do Japanese people who practice Shinto feel towards Buddhists and Buddhism?

  • @VSophiaV

The two are so parallel to each other.. intermixed almost.. that most Japanese people show respect to both.

  • Most are both Buddhist and Shinto, even though some of the philosophies might not seem to mix. Like JapanChannel says, they are so intermixed that it doesn't matter!

  • @VSophiaV If i may ask, may u explain to me what shinto is?

  • hi jim

  • i wanna see a shinto archer in action x3

  • @rioishikawa

Look at my martial arts playlist.

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom rummages through your page

  • @rioishikawa yeah that's pretty much the entire subject matter on one of the videos.

    lol

  • Where are all the people (visitors, monks, etc.)?

  • I always enjoy videos about Japanese Architecture. 5 st- I mean, thumbs up.

  • That river in the beginning was sweet. Would the Japanese find it socially unacceptable or weird if they saw a young adult hopping around on the rocks from one side to another, because thats the first thing I thought about when I saw that.

  • Bukkyoto

The only religion I would ever touch.

    otera no bukkyoto sugoi desu

  • did you increase the resolution of this video, it is playing back really slow. my upload and download rates are normal but this is taking forever to stream

  • @dragade101 agreed, slow to load

  • @imbored2

It is the CRAP new youtube system.

    See the video response below.

  • very kool

  • Seems really peaceful, very beautiful. Just another reason I want to go to japan :)

  • I was really expecting for this to be some sort of prank video because of the way you shot it. LOL! Was a nice video though. :)

  • Awesome. Majestic. Much love for Japan.

  • God, why does japan have to be so amazing?

  • buddhist temples are very sacred
