@frankycarras Yes , Brazilian jiu jitsu is actually very effective on the street , but , when it comes to multiple opponents , it becomes very tricky , because they can easily hit you on the ground , I know that , because im training the traditional jj , and the rule in street fighiting is to stay as much as you can from grappling on the ground
@MegaPasulj yes but if you are getting yourself into a fight with multiple opponents you are being very silly. i was recently sparing with a guy who was a brown belt in jiujitsu (it took him five years to get that). now ive done mma for about 3 months 3 times a week for two hours and about 50% of what we are doing is brazilian jiujitsu. we started off from stand up. i took a fight straight to the ground and tapped him out 3 times in about 4 minutes meaning i could have killed him 3 times...
@augi888 now what im trying to say here is that if you are going to fight be smart about it. if im a white belt with no stripes in bjj and i can tap out a guy who has been regulary doing jiujitsu for 5 years that means there is some syrious disproportion of skill between two disciplines. i dont even want to think what would happen to him if it came to start of with striking allowed... oh and in case you might think im older or something we are about equal weight and he is 5 years older..
I doubt ppl that say bjj isnt effective in the streets have ever taken a class or seen it used in a real situation, like a street fight. All that dirty fighting really isnt an answer to nullify bjj... Haha
this will not be useful if there is biting, gouging and pinching or grabbing the soft parts( the groining and around the neck areas) in real fight, any grappling/wresting type of fighting puts both fighters at risk.
@11someguy69 No, you see our moves are done so quickly no one has time to execute those techniques, this is proven in the Gracie challenges, i've also tested this with my friends trying to make the same argument as you.
@11someguy69 Except that the person with superior grappling is in a better position to apply the same dirty tricks, but causing even more damage. Anything you can do will be returned worse.
Its good to see other ppl talking about jiu jitsu, ppl say all I do is talk about jiu jitsu, but they talk about their shitty football all day. I hate how this art doesn't get the respect it deserves. bjj ftw!
"Apaga mais nao bate" , se doer bate, se não bater grita, se não gritar quebrar! QUEBRA MAIS NAO BATE !!! A dor é a fraqueza saindo, se Deus quiser final do ano pego Roxa
BJJ is awesome! Here's a tip for you to help avoid injury, strengthen your core muscles with some weight training while your a white belt (stabilisers, squats etc). Then as you move to Blue and beyond. You should try and put some muscle mass on your legs, specifically big quads help protect the knees and larger calves help protect the ankle. Experience: Alliance BJJ fighter, 2 yrs training. 2 x popped ribs, 1 x blown knee. Injuries suck!
Interesting to see that finishing holds that have been used in Catch wrestling. Have made their way to Bjj. Says a lot about the effectiveness of Catch. Anyone wanna guess how long Catch wrestling has been around? Look up Bill Riley. U will see the history on the art of hooking.
@JCOMPETITOR the name of the music is "Apaga Mas Não Bate" by Pregador Luo. The title means more or less "pass out but do not tap out" in English. Hope this helps.
@carlsongracieteam The Team has no official name :p so it's just a club without a name. Instructors name is Dan, and a few years is 3, approximately. :)
@ViRuSGaNgStEr lol so let's get this straight, your a brown belt, you've only been training for 3 years. and you don't even know what team affiliation you have lol?? sounds like someone is telling a little white lie.
@MAZ1N00 actually 3 years would be pretty damn fast for a purple but still possible, I've found 4-5 years is average for a purple, 6-8 brown, around 10 for black.
@carlsongracieteam my instructor is under royce gracie and he is only a brown belt. he has been training 15 years. it takes a while when your under a gracie that is barely in state.
@carlsongracieteam Well i'm in colorado, i trained with him once, he gave me a stripe on my belt. But yeah my instructor who teaches at the school has been doing it 15 years, which is incredibly long time!! haha it sucks but what can you do?
@ViRuSGaNgStEr I d like to roll with this "brown belt" I want to see if the delariva system can overcome this no name style that you can get a brown belt in less than a 5th graders lifetime lol.
@gogetatr12 lol. Brown belt in 3 years? He's a fucking joke. I know what you mean. BJ Penn got his black in 3 years, but I'm pretty damn sure he knew who he was training under.
I'm not saying Jiu Jitsu is not good, it’s really good for sports, MMA, K1 or UFC tournament but simply Jiu Jitsu skills are not enough, especially in real world street fighting with more than one enemy!
@edistdats look ur retarded simply because u are saying jiu jitsu in general there are several forms of jiu jitsu tht are perfect for life or death knife and gun fights one of them being israeli ju jitsu so before you would like to throw down one of the best styles in the world just remember that u hav to know the sport before u can talk shit about it..
@edistdats You do realise that they teach types of jiujitsu to the USA military with the philosophy of never spending more then the aboslute needed time on one enemy because it could cost you your life... in a real life or death situation (well I mean...if the army ever got into those right?). They do teach other types of combat but Jiujitsu is high up there for taking down enemies as soon as possible. You cant take down an enemy with a kick or a bunch as fast as a choke out.
@edistdats I agree with you. Jiu Jitsu is a brutal and devestating martial art, perhaps the best in terms of a one on one fight. Im not an expert, but IMO against multiple opponents, stand up fighting like muay thai or boxing are better, for a variety of reasons. Doesn't mean jiu-jitsu wouldn't be effective, you could utilise throws and locks to dispatch opponents, but i feel that a punching and kicking martial art would keep them away from you, unlike jiu-jitsu. Just my opinion.
@jomastretch Thats so true. Grappling is superior when fighting against one single opponent, but if you are up against more than one you would prefer stand up striking. Thats why you should do MMA :-)
you could not take down the frist enemy in seconds. If you encounter more than one enemy in real life & death fight siutation, especially they have weapons; u still got a chance if u r good karate, taikwado, boxing, kickboxing, JKD or kung fu fighter. But definitely no a fighter only bound by Jiu Jitsu system. That's why I like Bruce Lee's philosophy of JKD, "Be like water" and not bound by any particular skills or system.
If Bruce Lee was still alive, I guarantee you, he'd be doing Jiujitsu and possibly teaching it. Also, comments like yours are usually coming from people who have never experienced Jiujitsu in any way, form, or shape.
@edistdats Bahahaha!! "karate, taikwado, boxing, kickboxing, JKD or kung fu fighter" I have trained all but two of the styles you mention here plus BJJ and I can tell you, BJJ is most practical by far. The reality is you don't want to fight multiple opponents at any time, no matter what training you've had! "The real world is u may have to encouter 2 or more enemies at the same time. If they have weapons, u'll become dead meat if" But your awesome Muay Thai will sort that tho hey edistdats!?
@gutts077 BJJ is really overrated, think about what happens if you cant organize the fight if it comes out of no where. you have no idea what your wearing, what he's wearing, the surface, obsticals in the way parked cars walls curbs. he might have a wepon, and not to mention if he has buddy's around. one on one in an arranged fight, its very effective, but guys its no good on the street.
Jiu Jitsu is one of the best skills you have to master if u want to win in one on one MMA and UFC ‘sport’or ‘competition, but definitely not the major skills in real world street fighting. Jiu Jitsu focuses on putting your enemy on ground and using arm, leg, figners & wrist locks, etc. The major limitation is it's designed for one on one fight or martial art combat. The real world is u may have to encouter 2 or more enemies at the same time. If they have weapons, u'll become dead meat if
At :55 you know that's Cafe Dantes tapping Marcelo Garcia and at 1:49 Rickson Gracie's oldest son the late Rockson Gracie choking out someone hard style
That marcial art is one of the best in "Come on, I dont wanna fight, but I can stunt right now if u mess with me", or "instead of share blows, we could simplily finish each other in a second".
Like in Ninjutsu, dont fight, avoid fight, but if the fight comes, finish it before it comes.
