It's a nice thing to be liked and a rare one in youtube. As for my use of "egolatric" I wasn't quite sure of its existence when I wrote it down. Take as an explanation of sorts the fact I am not a native English-speaking person. In other languages similar words occur convey exactly the meaning I had in mind. If it turns out to be a real word, then I will be more than pleased. I think now I should have used "egotistical" but it has a "softer" meaning.
I couldn't agree more with you. In fact, when I watch videos of the Smiths which are not gig footage, I usually try not to watch them very carefully. I am a fan of the Smiths and it hurts me somehow to see such blatant evidence of Morrissey's egolatric merchandizing. Well, what's most fun about Morrissey is his willingness to relish his own evil nature, isn't it? I enjoy it too, but still I'd like to think that knowing his own fortune & place in history is secure, he'd like to be remembered for having a larger heart than that which we know now.

Well, Morrissey is a cheap bastard. So many of his albums have songs that are on other albums because he's trying to squeeze more money out of us. Also, he's taken all his YouTube videos and canceled the sound. Cheapskate!

It's a nice thing to be liked and a rare one in youtube. As for my use of "egolatric" I wasn't quite sure of its existence when I wrote it down. Take as an explanation of sorts the fact I am not a native English-speaking person. In other languages similar words occur convey exactly the meaning I had in mind. If it turns out to be a real word, then I will be more than pleased. I think now I should have used "egotistical" but it has a "softer" meaning.

I couldn't agree more with you. In fact, when I watch videos of the Smiths which are not gig footage, I usually try not to watch them very carefully. I am a fan of the Smiths and it hurts me somehow to see such blatant evidence of Morrissey's egolatric merchandizing. Well, Morrissey is a cheap bastard. So many of his albums have songs that are on other albums because he's trying to squeeze more money out of us. Also, he's taken all his YouTube videos and canceled the sound. Cheapskate!

Oh yeah, he's a fantastic singer and musician, and his lyrics are unmatched by anyone.
I'm irritated with him because a lot of his official videos on YouTube have been shut down, and he also released so many albums where nearly half the songs were duplicated on other albums, so that you had to shell-out full CD prices for only 6 new songs. Those are miserly tricks for a rich man to pull.

First of all, I don't take orders from you. Secondly, I was responding to name-calling by another poster who wanted to put me down for being a "Yank." So I was rubbing it in.
I don't believe the U.S.A. is the best place, I just believe it's the strongest. I do happen to like it a lot, though. I've also been to Europe, and I like it there, too.

You seem to have a steady if rigid intellect, and perhaps it is hard for you to get past his camp persona and homoerotic overtones when deciphering his lyrics.
Morrissey's songs were never based in the figurative "gutter" either, his life was.

He sang without a mic because top of the pops wanted him to lip sync so morrissey thought well i'm going to sing without out a mic to show everyone what they wanted him to do, instead misleading everyone, he believed in live music, i don't think you'll ever get why he did it because i don't think you will ever understand. and it isn't pop its independent music.

The category is "popular music," so I just abbreviate it to pop. What I understand is that Morrissey is lip-synching to the studio cut. That is not a live rendering of the song; it's just Morrissey hamming it up. I understand perfectly. What Morrissey didn't have was the balls to refuse to do it because he's greedy, greedy, greedy!
