A very ambitious song, and well-deserving of all the praise. The arrangements are very complex for a demo, as are the harmonies and the changes; this song seems to be, or is in the works as, a "suite". Look forward to finding out how this song will further develop, or be modified, as its profile is raised this year. There is a tremendous amount to work with.
In all seriousness, this is a great song. The Left Banke came in same time as the British Invasion of the 60s and their sound was more akin to that influence than what was going on in america at the time. This song proves that point..very Beatles influenced vocals and guitar wise.
You know what, I just taught the boys in the band this song. Guess what, recently some very powerful people in publishing business have started to work this song. It looks like a lot of people really like it, and maybe it will enjoy a second life.
i have this album. suddenly I am hearing this with new ears..terrific.the vocals are outstanding, with a lusher production this song would have fit right in on "too".
Both, and some musicians perfected their songs for months and years back then as well. I don't know exactly how long Brian Wilson used on "Good Vibrations", but it took months. However you don't necessarily need a lot of money and studio - time to do so these days. I'm impressed that this song was done in only one session. To my ears it sounds great the way it is.
You know, it's really funny how many choices you have these days, to make a song sound however you want it to sound.
This song as you hear it here was done in 1978 so, it was done at one session. But. now-a-days musicians can take months or even years to perfect their songs. Is it good or bad?
Hi imsmember01 I recently re-recorded this song, Michael Brown, really likes it, so he wrote a new bridge. I changed the feel of the song, I took off all the vocals, added strings.
Now it's not boring. It's actually nice, if you listen to the chords, they modulate just before the hook.
This is great the way it is, but if you had more time in the studio to work on the album it might've been even better. It must have been very frustrating.
Ahem! Well, This song was recorded at Kingdom Sound studio in Long Island. It was meant to be a demo. We never had any idea of releasing it. The whole "Stangers On A Train" album were demos except for two songs. But the producer released it.

What a great song. Sounds like the Beatles but I know it is the Left Banke. Something to truly be proud of.

If the Beatles had been still going at it in the late 1970s, quite possibly this is what they would have sounded like.

Love listening as it sounds like intimate conversation between the singer and listener. A visit with someone giving you a gift of self.

The reason the producer released the album was, his contract depended on him procuring a record deal. So he released this to bind us.
