@mustang071 Perhaps their tone deaf? This is one of my favorites by David. Everytime I sing along with it I tear up though, I guess the song moves me too much.
this song always lifts my spirit. i love the BEATITUDES.. its sad everytime i ask my non catholic friends to listen to a song like this, they dont always find it so compelling, i just find that so surprising.. but God bless them all..
Last Sunday.. they asked my family and I to deliver the gifts (the wine and bread) at the altar.. while people were walking up to receive the host and right after I had recieved mine, I knelt on the pews and I remember asking God, in my head, .."I don't deserve you, I don't deserve to be your child...I feel like I've done some bad things in my life and I don't know why I deserve your love. 2 seconds after, the choir sung this song " Rejoice and be glad. Blessed are you, Holy are you."
@NomesyTroy Yeah, it was rather silly. Seems the comments got away from me while I was deep in school and work. Since they didn't add anything to the conversation, I deleted them. >.<
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (November 7, All Saints' Sunday), we sang this as our Hymn of the Day. It is #728 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship. May God bless all those who have gone before us.
This is in my opinion is a wonderful song and expression of God's endless love for us, despite all of life's test's and trials, like him if we choose to we can choose strength in dealing with all in life
Wow, something just hit me. "Blest are they who suffer hate all because of me," isn't just a reiteration of "blessed are they who suffer in faith," I think it's more like blessed are those who are the target of hate and malice because of someone else's evil actions and twisting misinterpretation of the word of God.
The description has me wondering if David Haas is signing this lovely hymn he wrote

I really needed to hear this song today. Lately I've felt my faith faltering, and that I was losing my hold on my life. Now I feel so uplifted. <3

This is probably the most inspiring video I have ever seen. My heart leaps and I sing loudly every time they play this during Mass.
