I drink and drive all the time. Have for 20+ years. Never had an accident and probabally never will. Then you have the soccer car moms with cell phones crossing the divider and killing people in their SUV's. They should have strict licensing arrangements for people at a certain BAC. You should have to blow a certain level and then do an obstacle course. If you pass, you get a certain bac endorsement. Then again, most "drivers" just have to be able to go around a corner at 40 to get their license

I am NOT AT ALL trying to discredit how many deaths are a direct result of drugs and/or alchohol influenced accidents... HOWEVER, these type of accidents do not compare with the death rate from accidents of sheer stupidity. Ok well, I drove drunk 2 times, 1st was when I lived in SC, Pounding Jack all day and in the heat. Left the watering hole in my high performance car, Spun out on a dark road, no more than 2 seconds later did a car come past me, 2 seconds sooner and may have killed somone, NOT PROUD. Shortly after I moved to NJ. Was dinking vodka all day and in the heat again. I pulled over to change a cd when a cop pulled along side of me. Long story short, I was charged with a dwi and the cop saved a life.

There are few greater wastes of life than losing a loved one to a car wreck. These things we drive around in are death traps, especially if we're intoxicated. I'm reminded of this shit everytime I go to work: I pass through a long stretch of highway marked with memorials and crosses hinting where people have been mutilated in these rolling boxes of death.
