you know I think america is missing shows like this you know. focus on the teens not over grown adults playing teens and they don't tackle the issues teens face. you have gossip girls, one tree hill, melrose place I could go on. although they're good shows I'm not bashing them just saying that I think they need a show that focus with the same issues and such so teenager and others can relate through a adolescent perspective.

As far as censoring the gay scenes... FOQ was resistant as well at first.. Fer only had one kiss with a guy in season 1 and then not again until season 2 with his first boyfriend and even then they rarely showed them kiss. At the end of season 2 when Fer hooked up with the guy from season 1 and then when he briefly made out with the guy in the 3rd season.. O and when Fer/Gorka & Fer/Julio kissed but that doesn't really count.. Until David... Fer never had a real deep love kind of kiss!

I completely agree. I like the show so much, it is not just about the gay couple, there are some many characters (Gorka, Yoli, Irene, etc), that you do care about their stories and lifes.

Also, One thing that make this show so special, it is that they are normal people. Many american shows (Gossip Girl, Beverly 90210, Soaps), they show rich people that you cant really realate to. The majority of people are poor or middle income and FOQ deals with "real" people.

I really liked when Gilmore girls and Friends was still on cause they were about real people and situations.. Now all we have are stupid teen Drama's.. Well i kinda like Gossip Girl sometimes but it has no real point.. Skins starts a new series in a few weeks and I am totally Psyched!!! That show is better than anything ever in the US. I heard MTV might redo the series and Americanize it but I don't see how that's gonna work with all the drugs and sex going on all the time. lol

I saw Skins, season 1 and 2, but stopped when they changed the casts.

There are shows that they dont work in the states as you said because of all censorship. For instance , Foq has some nude scenes and foul languages that they cant do so much in american shows.

One thing that I like about this show, it is not just drama but i t has a lot of comedy too. So you laugh and cry all at the same time in one episode.  The writing is amazing.

I thought I wouldn't like Skins season 3 cause I was so attached to the other cast but I ended up really loving it! Especially Emily and Naomi because they are just too cute together! You should watch season 3 if you get the chance.. I was surprised how easy it was to get used to the new cast.

I don't know what american shows you guys are watching, but all the show I watch in the States has cursing, nudity, and some SERIOUS adult situations. The first few seasons of Nip/Tuck was good, Sons Of Anarchy, Rescue Me, True Blood just to name a few. I could never get into Skins I tried, but it didn't interest me, but it could be pulled off in the States, just NOT on MTV.

well Nip Tuck was allowed cause it was on so late at night same with Rescue me and they were on Cable and True Blood is on HBO which is a paid service and so cursing and nudity is fine cause ur paying for it.

shows on ABC, NBC, FOX.. etc are not allowed at all to curse or show nudity. SKINS is one of my favorite shows. I love that Britain is so laid back with the whole cursing sex stuff cause I honestly don't see what the big deal is. True blood sex scenes are way more graphic then Skins too.

Yeah but they were on cable networks. NBC, for a while, did have brief nudity during the days of NYPD Blue, but the FCC got tight on them. I remember when ER and Chicago Hope got in trouble because of the word shit being used on both shows, I was like WTF?? It's no big deal. Networks like TNT, USA, FX and the like are good because the are cable, but they aren't paid for channels like HBO or Showtime. Here in the U.S. They can show bloody gory scenes, but god forbid someone sees a side boob shot!

I was wondering that too cause last season Fer made a comment about David being a first year. I'm not sure how the school system works over there, but, maybe they can have some of the same classes together even though they're in different grades. I mean we do that here, although the way they're making it sound, it does seem like now they're in the same grade. Maybe the translation was just a little mixed up and what Fer really said was it was his first year, meaning at that school. I don't know.
