@sfsc16 yes it is no different from a woman giving birth, all beings are covered with something during birth! it is not hurt, it is exhausted from the hard work of getting out of the shell as it takes a few hours to do so, thanks for viewing
arent they meant to be in an incubator? i dont know cos my science class has a incubator with like 5 or 6 eggs and they hatched they look cute when they are in teh egg ugly when they are hatched nd cute agen when they are normal
@somethingfunny18 We got a small "budget" incubator that fits 6/10 eggs depending on size. 4 hens and ducks the temperature should be 37.5 C, 4 weeks for ducks, 3 for hens. As it is a cheap one we have to turn them 3 times a day until they start to hatch but you can spend more and get one that turns them for you. Humidity should be higher at the time of hatching to prevent the membrane thingy from drying and trapping the bird inside. This is done by topping up the water inside the incubator.
@yosesaurs because if u do,then they might not be ready to hatch and if u help them, they could die. If they r grown and ready, then they will hav the stength to push themselfs out.:) i suggest u wait a while until u kno alot more about raising a duckling. If u want a duck,u can find them at a website.they can sell u ducklings or eggs:) it takes 28 days to hatch. Or shorter.
awwww its so pretty to watch. i want a duck really badly, but i don't have the money to get one right now, and i want my duckies to have a wonderful home with me...
my duck egg just hatched about 4 mins ago. It's still half in the egg and it looks sooooooo tired. it's eyes are closed and i think it's sleeping now. even tho its lower body is still in the egg. it looks like she has a little tumor in her belly area. is that normal? idk if it's the yoke sac. it's medium sized and is attacked to the baby. She baby seems faily vocal and alive. is this normal? mine didn't come 100% out of the egg like yours. again mine's a mallard. what do ou think? thanks! :D
@suej3169 it's ok all is well. he/she is doing great. growing fast. luckily i have like 100 pics of Nicky already. I go a little overboard LOL. but oh well. now i'll have plenty of memories LOL. thanks tho
i have ALWAYS wanted a duckling my hole life so i asked my mom and she said no so i said what if i cold incubate a DUCK egg she said its posible (but in my family that means yes) so how do i incubate it and how do i get a egg? ps i am exsided but i know better not to get my hopes up
@TheMonks7 Hi thanks for viewing, before you incubate it think about if you are able to care for it properly,ie have you somewhere safe for it to go into at night, a pond or something for it to swim,, you need an incubator for your egg and a fertile egg, best place tog et a fertile egg at the moment is Ebay as this is the time of year that eggs are most fertile,...
i saw a documentry about penguins and they would take the eggs away and put them in an incubator and replace the eggs with round pebbles and the penguins would sit on them =) I guess they are easy to fool.
@nicolineTappert thanks for vieing, no I left it to dry in the incubator for around 30 mins, just giving it drops of water , then put them into a warm cage with a lamp and give them some mash, if you look at my other video of sleepy ducklings you will see they clean themselves and are very independant quickly.
@Potlickerdotorg i cant remember what model this was, it was a friends and a very old but a good quality one,,you can find incubators on ebay at reasonable prices.
@Myobokuuzan I used my own eggs. and i also bought some fertile eggs off ebay to ensure that there was a new mix of blood,(if you interbreed them it can cause problems).thanks for viewing.
Such a beautiful video. I've always thought to own a duck, but I live in a lakeside property with no backyard. That little bugger would get out on that lake and never want to come back! :)
I need some help, we are getting some white domestic ducks today a mating pair. How do you know when an egg is fertile? How long does it take? And how long do you leave the eggs in the incubator?
omg ok i have ducks and um they layed 13 eggs the thing is i found 2 eggs shell empty do they eat their own eggs if it is dead? oh and we dont knoe how to breed at all the egg has ben in the nest for 4 weeks is that a bad sign? and the eggs are white mix with grey..idk i need help and plus my duck also leave the nestallthe time and it's octber..do you think the egg died?
@lyndalinda23 If it's freezing cold and they haven't been sitting on them yes. But with some duck breeds, their eggs take longer to hatch so kinda matters what type of duck. But they usually take around 28 days. though I know some eggs take about a 31.
hahaha i feel so stupid. I'm so used to puppies being born and drinking milk so I'm waiting to see you give the duck back to its mother to drink some milk.....oh and why isn't the mother there? I don't know much about birds hatching but shouldn't the mother be there?
@nicholask95 These are grown in an incubator, unfortunately like probably 99% of anything hatched is done this way. this duckling does have a mother as all the eggs are from my own stock, thanks for viewing
@suej3169 you're right BUT ... my experience with geese, if you bring him immediatly to a female maybe the ducklings may have the protection of an adult
@nicholask95 ok 2 things 1. they DON'T drink milk, they can eat solid food and drink water after a few days when the yolk in their stomach is gone. 2. They don't need their mother. They just need a heat lamp, baby duck food, water, newspaper or something to walk on and go to the bathroom on and a few friends and their good to go.
@nicholask95 ducks that have been bred by humans are not always very good at sitting on eggs keeping them warm for a full 28 days. My ducks are Campbells and we have had them 4 years but hatched our first eggs last night in an incubator. They will be returned to their mother(s) as soon as possible, they grow very fast but need to stay in a few days until strong enough to handle predators such as the neighbourhod cats and sadly rats. I say mothers because our 3 females share a nest.
@Kinatakins no there is no need to feed them straight away.. i fed them a mash for chicks and ducklings with a litlle water added to it.thanks for viewing
Would it be wrong to help it out of it's shell? It looks like it was really struggling. And don't sue me for asking, please. I would just be like here you go, little buddy.
@Wendypretty1 they need to break out of the shell on their own so that theirs legs are strong, if you help them out, they poss not be able to walk properly then u would have the heartbreaking situation of having to euthanase it.. so the moral is let mother nature do her thing...thanks for viewing
@suej3169 actually if you have a baby chicken or duck like mine sometimes you need to help them. I was hatching chickens once and one was stuck for over 6 hours in the shell because his wing was pinned and he couldn't move. In that case we have to help them. And the chicken whose name is Buddy is perfectly healthy rooster (and a very friendly one, I think because we helped him and let him live) But it isn't true that they won't be able to walk. Sometimes you can beat the bitch mother nature :)
@henhen7890 , thanks for viewing, i used paper towels whilst they were hatching so that birth matter etc can be contained so as not to spread any mess to the other eggs. I use thin hessian sacking to put them on when incubating and then cover it with papertowels which are easy to take out and dispose of safely,
@CoOkIeS8DxD .thanks for viewing, once hatched i would leave them to dry in the incubator and just dip there little beaks in some clean water , then i would transfer them to a warm box as you will see in my other video of 'sleepy ducklings' and then after 3/4 days move them into a bigger cage with heat lamps..
I have a duckling egg in a glass aquarium and a heating lamp over it, i check it reguraly to see if its warm. even waking myself up at nights to check. im not quite sure how long its going to be before it hatches... or if it even hatches, ive checked under a light and i can see the litle guy moving around. im just not sure when he's going to hatch... any suggestions on what to feed and keep him i once he hatches? (i wanna name him jericho.. plz be a mallard!)
@F3nR1RF4ng Do you have the right humidity, tempurature and do you also turn the egg? If everything is right, hatching should be flawless. Once hes out, you should feed him fresh fruits and vegatables that are finely chopped or chick/duckling feed, don't feed them seed.
@zimtower i appreciate you taking the time to explain a little bit to me, unfortunately the duckling didnt make it. :/ but, i guess thats what happens sometimes. still. much appreciated for the information.
@Mullikaji1 thanks for viewing. it was not strong enough to stand as they are so exhausted from getting themselves out of the eggshell. they take 2/3 hours to gain their strength then there is no stopping them.
@sweetie4pie sadly not. We put it under a tree hoping it would hatch there but my dog stepped on it. All that was inside the egg mas a teaspoon of clear goop and 2 worms.
What happens since their mom is not there to clean them and feed them and all? Just curious. Seems like it kind of breaks from the natural scheme of things when the mom is not there. The little guy seemed to be looking around and saying "ok, now what"?
im hatching ducks right now and im not shure what to do now.they have come out of the shell but are very weak. one of them cheeps but the other one doesnt ...i need help as i dont want to kill them......HELP!!!
I am pretty sure you won't kill them, I have a lot of experiance with hatching and looking after Indian runner ducks. They are bound to be very weak after they hatch, It takes a lot of effort to break out of the shell. They need time to rest. Hmmmm, if one cheeps but the other dosn't i suggesest you leave it for 24 hours in the incubator to dry off, before getting it out and checking if it has made it. GOOD LUCK
@winobliss he was talking about killing other little babies by crushing them in rocks!!! and other stuff about killing innocent animals! either that or he was spamming.
is it true that the ducks which are hatched from the incubator cannot sit on nest

You should have let it stand up ,Thanks for the upload ,Great effort!
Mullikaji1 1 year ago
@Mullikaji1 thanks for viewing. it was not strong enough to stand as they are so exhausted from getting themselves out of the eggshell. they take 2/3 hours to gain their strength then there is no stopping them.

@hdjdrkff How did that go? Did it hatch??
sweetie4pie 1 year ago
@sweetie4pie sadly not. We put it under a tree hoping it would hatch there but my dog stepped on it. All that was inside the egg mas a teaspoon of clear goop and 2 worms.

What happens since their mom is not there to clean them and feed them and all? Just curious. Seems like it kind of breaks from the natural scheme of things when the mom is not there. The little guy seemed to be looking around and saying "ok, now what"?

She was probably trying to get used to the light too (well if her eyes are open right off the bat, which I'm not sure if they are or not). lol

im hatching ducks right now and im not shure what to do now.they have come out of the shell but are very weak. one of them cheeps but the other one doesnt ...i need help as i dont want to kill them......HELP!!!
strawberryjn 1 year ago
I am pretty sure you won't kill them, I have a lot of experiance with hatching and looking after Indian runner ducks. They are bound to be very weak after they hatch, It takes a lot of effort to break out of the shell. They need time to rest. Hmmmm, if one cheeps but the other dosn't i suggesest you leave it for 24 hours in the incubator to dry off, before getting it out and checking if it has made it. GOOD LUCK

@suej3169 sometimes you can make an incubater just use a shoebox shredded newspaper a very warm water bottle
