I had the same kind of operation in feb 2008 it went very good but a painful operation and my foot got infected and it was worst than the operation. I had to retire from work but my foot is almost pain free no more pain in my foot like i had before the operation, but i had a great doctor that did my operation.
just wanna say thanks to all who replied and wished me well. Sorry for taking so long in replying though. As I was healing, I made a career change that required some going back to school. My new career has me away from home a LOT, but I am doing well and I like it (except for the away from home a lot bit...)
Hope you had a great recovery! I had this done when I was 15 and then redone when I was 17. (I have CMT.) I am 44 now and had the ankle replaced ten days ago because of the severe degenerative arthritis that was a result of the previous surgeries. My anesthesiologist kept a pain block in for the first three days...amazing difference in comfort...I felt very little pain. I'm pain medication free now after ten days. (Drug of choice...morphine.)
lol... I hear ya on the morphine part! great stuff :)
recovery went fairly well. The only real drawback was the dehissed stitches and that was about all. Other than that, it healed up pretty fast and is pretty strong now. I still get occational pain, but nowhere near like it used to be.
Looks like the butchered you bro, what about these incisions that are really small. Was this reconstructive? Hope you are in less pain then before. I have pain every day.
I just had surgery a month ago, I was wondering how things are going with you? Did you have any problems with infection? How long were you out of work? I hope things are going well for you. Please let me know how things are going now.
I wish you the best of luck in your healing. I had an arthrodesis fusion of my right subtalar joint. I was in several casts for the duration of three months, following months of physical therapy. It still bothers me on rainy days. and of course, I cannot do much high impact exercises. I have much empathy for you. at least you had nice colorful casts. Take care, and remember when in pain,(R.I.C.E.)Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation.
